  1. Tonight's the night. Even gives me the chance to use the tram for the first time.
  2. next year's bash pencilled in. I could bring just about everything in my sig if wanted.
  3. if the speaker cab has handles, run a strap through the handles and over the top of the amp. Will keep it in place no matter what you do. Halfords do them for keeping kayaks fastened to roofracks.
  4. Week on Thursday up here. Seems along way off.
  5. The fourth member of the band was sacked early in his career for overplaying during the middle 8. hence the expression 'too much water under the bridge'.
  6. Just had a ticket alert for Marcus Miller at the usher hall 22nd October. very good value at £26. Unfortunately this clashes with the Bill bailey gig in Glasgow I've already promised I'd take mrs Jacko to (and cannot get out of no matter what I say or do). Just thought I'd vent.....
  7. I use my Kelly dragonfly for playing at home so no amp required if I'm rehearsing somewhere I need to take an amp I use an Eden Metro combo that had the speakers replaced by the previous owner so it's putting out 600 watts.
  8. Sorry Gavin. I'm having to work tonight now. Bit p*ssed off as they gave me no warning.
  9. Manchester and Kendal and Newcastle are "southern" to some of us y'know . (from Blyth originally so the toon is still "darn sarf" Will be seeing NWR supporting the Quo with Wilko Johnson in December
  10. There's videos on youtube of Michael manring using hipshots on every string and de/re-tuning each string several times during a song. makes my head spin just to watch.
  11. if I can get a pass out I'll try to come along. You may recognise me as the fat bloke that bought an SVP-pro from you a few years ago. How are you monitoring your gigs? Finnegan's has an OK speaker set up but last time I played there they only had 1 floor monitor. We always took our own and spent a lot of time getting the levels right - useful to have the 'front man' explain to the punters what you're doing. as others have said, turn down, not up.
  12. This is starting to get out of control. Suffice to say that if the fans (i.e. us) didn't buy their tickets or their music they would have no income.
  13. if all your curry house customers went in and complained I'm sure they'd pay attention. (or go out of business)
  14. "Dunno who we think we are etc........" We're the people who pay their wages.
  15. Trouble is, Yes haven't played with Jon Anderson for several years. Without him and Chris they're little better than a tribute band - Geoff downs and whoever the latest stand in singer is do nothing for me. Saw the fly from here tour and was very disappointed. Haven't even bothered to listen to the latest album.
  16. That's right. Quite an acrimonious legal battle so I was very surprised when they got back together for the union tour.
  17. Tony and Jeff were never members of Yes. They were backing musicians in an offshoot called ABWH (playing the music of Yes). Chris has been the only bass player on a Yes stage. IMO they should call it a day otherwise they'll end up spoiling the memory in the same way daltrey and townsend have
  18. Amongst Bass players he probably is. Not as prominent as a member of zep as the rest of the band though (to the average layman)
  19. Naaaah. They should have stopped after Black holes and revelations
  20. "Put it another way; if, back in the day, Freddie Mercury had shagged Bono, Muse are what would have subsequently dribbled from the Irishman's f***ing anus!" Brilliant
  21. Level 42's 'Dune Tune' is up there for me but one of my all time favourites is Jimmy Johnson on James Taylor's 'Millworker', especially played live where they perform a sublime duet intro.
  22. Thanks folks. I've posted on all the places I could find and also informed various studios and cash converters. Don't hold out too much hope of ever seeing this stuff again but it's a lesson learned.
  23. Some bastard broke into my car sometime in the past 2 days and took my 3 gig bags.. Shure sm58 mi a couple of XLR cables and 4 or 5 guitar cables. transmitter for a line6 G55 wireless Long warwick bag with 2 Hercules stands and a mic stand laptop backpack with an ashdown little giant 1000 head, a toolit and a bunch of spare cables.
