I love vintage Fenders. I have 2003 made Jaco artist jazz bass. I momentaly made it look vintage, refinished it black and road worn. I called it "red rain". I can't call it yet a vintage Fender, but maybe some 10 years.

Any way, pau ferro is good, too. It's not black, but it's durable and good sounding.

Reads like it is a super wood, availaible 1/1000000. Seams like it's very special and specific. Your choice, seems like You don't miss.

Ebonol also feels and looks like ebony. Gary Willis in some instagram chat said that he prefers to play gwb1005 with ebonol fingerboard.

What fingerboard wood or material would You preffer on 5 or 4 string fretted and fretless bass ? My choice, fretted - rosewood, fretless - ebony.

If i would be richer, i would shurely pay +/- 5000e for the bass of doom. Though, i got my dream bass - Ibanez GWB1005 which i use mostly, i would put BOD to the wall and put a picture of Jaco up to it. Together it would be a nice painting for the room.

Long, long time ago I had a big gig at some festival on half open stage, and the wind was there. My place on stage was right besides the most popular piano player of our country, 90 years old man, called Maestro. I was playing from the notes and suddenly wind got hard and took a few lists away, i was shocked and run for them to prevent the situation and continue to play. It took about 4 seconds without me and then Maestro turned to me and said - "how can it happen ???". I was in bad mood that day.

It can't attack very hard on low frequincies and is built to play very light, no super agressive sound can it take, which i suppose is needed in hard rock and metal.

When i was younger and had more gigs, i bought Fender MIM jazz and felt it much better to play than with precission. Finally i went up to Fender Jaco model and played it a lot. After i bought Ibanez GWB1005, i only use my Jaco for rock.
