If you had to keep only the one that had the best playability, which one would you keep?

Just imported from the States for my new Fender Jazz Pau Ferro neck. They were supposed to be for 16mm peg holes, but they fit 14mm. I'm not keen on shimming the peg holes or drilling extra holes on the back, so they're up for sale. Unused as per pics. This is the only set for sale in the UK at the moment as far as I can tell. They're lovely and light, but I'm going to have to go with Fender tuners Happy to post to mainland UK. Estimate £5-£6 delivery.

Any thoughts on best method to fill in the white here, and with chip? I'd like it to be the same colour as the surrounding wood. Cheers

So, here's the Squier '77 I've bought to create my Fender 70's build. I haven't received it yet, but I'm a little concerned that the previous relic attempt has gone too far? I wonder if light sanding may be key, but the gouge looks a little deep to me. Maybe best to wait until it's in before worrying too much lol.

Had a Peavey Zephyr. Nice enough to play, but the neck pickup was waaaaaay to close to the neck heel. Gigged it once then sold it on. Looked cool though.

Fender American Standard Jazz Bass 2008 (ON HOLD)

Here for sale we have my lovely Fender Jazz Bass. It's a 4 string American Standard model, built in 2008. I'm the second owner of this Bass. The lowdown: Body: Olympic White. Very presentable with minor imperfections. Most notable are the scratches on the rear, and a bit of paint chipping where the front strap button is. Other minor blemishes. Original tort pickguard is faded in places. I have a matt black pickguard included in the sale. Schaller strap locks are fitted. Neck: This is a genuine Fender replacement done in 2015. Previous owner was having issues keeping the old one straight, so it was replaced for a brand new, Fender America supplied neck. "A" string lock included as per photos. I had my luthier remove a sharp edge of the nut from the G side, as it was digging into my index finger at the money end. No buzzing evident. Strings: Unknown roundwounds. They came from my Japanese Aerodyne. They work well, sound bright and feel nice. Pickups: Tonerider passive set. Solderless vintage control panel with vintage paper capacitors from Northwest. They sound lovely. No hum. Bridge, control knobs and tuners are all unchanged from factory. Action. I think it could go lower. I think it needs a bit of a setup in all honesty. Accessories: Fender hard flight case, and all case candy is included. The only thing missing is the Fender strap, which disintegrated over the years, so it got binned. I might be interested in a partial trade with a Fender Mex / Japanese sunburst 70s style Jazz bass. It's a great bass, and has served me well at numerous gigs over the years. As I'm in absolutely no rush to sell, I'll hold out for the right offer, otherwise I'll just keep it and continue enjoying it. I've also attached a photo of my details on a post it attached to my Fender amp. I'm not with the bass at the moment, so hopefully this photo reassures in regard to me being a genuine seller. I'm located in the far north Highlands, but I'm happy to courier / take a discussion re delivery to UK mainland addresses. I will not send overseas. If you're local, any inspection is welcomed. Cheers

Very true, but I'd find it strange to recommend and pay for a course that I didn't vibe with. Twice I tried it over the years. Kinda like getting him the same type of car I once had, but didn't like driving it. Lots of options out there thankfully.. Cheers

We've had a discussion already on floating vs anchored thumb ( floating favoured by myself ), to let him know there are technique options out there.

So, my 15 year old lad revealed last night that he has a strong desire to learn bass, much to my delight. He's tried 6 string guitar before and couldn't really gel with it, but he's been playing violin / fiddle since the age of two. He's also highly proficient when it comes to reading music. He's so familiar with the sound of bass, as the house / shed has been filled with my own rumblings on the instrument since I started playing 5 years ago. Maybe it's a comforting sound to him, although I hasten to dive too deep into his thought process as to the reasons for this new desire. I don't feel that I would be a very good teacher, as much as I'm keen to share thoughts on what has / hasn't worked for me over the years, so the question is this: Which online course would perhaps be best suited to him? I've had a few tries with SBL, but I couldn't get on with the content and teaching style at all. To that end, I'm mainly self taught. I see Bassbuzz could be a good starting point for him. I've quite warmed to Josh's goofy way of teaching from the online videos I've seen. Gear isn't a problem, as we've a house full of exactly what he needs to get going. Any thoughts are much appreciated. Cheers, G

I left a few days ago. It's all amicable. Their old bassist is coming back, and I'm a standby if ever needed. It's all good :-)

This is exactly me at the moment Mike. Having re found my love of playing, I haven't felt the same about playing with others unfortunately. The thought of 60 mile round trips twice weekly for practice, coupled with all of those late Saturday nights after gigs, being unable to sleep because I'm wired to the hilt, was enough to make me quit the band last night. I have family reasons also that were hugely instrumental in my decision. It's been in the post for a while. The band are such a great bunch, and there's no hard feelings. Hell, I'm even in reserve if their new bassist ever can't make a gig. That's how good the relationship is with them. Now, it's time to take a dive into what I want to play. I'm never happier than when I'm in my summer house in the garden on a warm day exploring new tunes, and trying out playing techniques that are new to me. Looking forward to it immensely. Cheers, George

Some great advice there guys. It's much appreciated and has all been taken on board. Happens to pass at the moment that the band recently lost it's singer due to "musical differences", so it's in a bit of a transition period while a new member settles in. For me, I'm doing much better head wise, and the love for playing has come back rather strongly. I do feel this is in part due to me concentrating on what I feel like I want to play, other than what the band would normally play. Admittedly, I'm rather familiar with the band stuff already. Thanks again y'all. The fact that people care enough to take the time to respond with their thoughts is super helpful in keeping my head straight ! Cheers, George

I guess this thread is primarily aimed at others who have at some point felt as I feel right now. Without going into details, my life at the moment is quite challenging, much more so than normal, and I'm not at all in a great head place. This in turn has made me lose any desire to pick up a bass and play / learn anything. I'm also considering leaving the band, as great a bunch of guys as they are. I really think removing it all from my life might give me the breathing space that I maybe need. I'd be interested to hear from anyone with experience of a similar situation. Thanks, George

A better angle here on a '23 maybe..

I've really no idea regarding specs for the earlier 4003's. This one is a 2023 model
