  1. As you get used to the exact feel of this exact bass, the distinctness of the markers will become less of an issue. I'd wait for a while, see how much better muscle memory gets first
  2. That's great news. Initiate a nicely-mannered dispute now, which gets the two of you talking politely under PayPal's gaze. If they choose not to join in, it's pretty quick to get PayPal refunding you.
  3. Feeling aware that a Stingray has an unignorable quality, would the addition of a boost pedal like a Xotic RC to a non-identical 2nd bass allow it to perform as a backup without running the risk of seeming a bit underwhelming?
  4. Is he okay with this fact being made public?
  5. The standard option on US-built G&L basses is Chechen (also called Caribbean Rosewood, but not, I think I read, actually part of the Rosewood family). I paid for an upgrade to Indian Rosewood purely for looks: not only is Chechen quite a light shade, but often looks very streaky too. I can't say the fretboard I got is especially beautiful, but at least it's got a nice even colouring.

  7. Sisters of Mercy, 1990. Oof. Elliot Smith, touring Figure 8, drowning himself and his songs in distortion. (Grandaddy, around the same time, same venue, best gig I've ever been to. The crowd were seemingly in a state of universal bliss. Mr Singer said at one point, yeah this is something for us too.)
  8. I am too ignorant to turn that list into a x-y=z sum for your basses, but I'm enjoying the pretty collage, thank you
  9. With hindsight, I shouldn't have used the words bought and sold. Something meaning arrivals and departures would have been better — which basses joined you, which basses left you. So for sure your Encore counts, for me (whereas my LB-100 — paid for in full in August but still unbuilt — does not)

  11. So is their Bruce Thomas Profile p-bass. The neck profiles are listed as being a lot more shallow than the Yamaha BBs. 424 etc — 22mm / 25mm 434 etc — 21mm / 23mm Bass Centre — 20mm / 22mm The Yamaha TRBX174 and 204 PJs have 40mm nuts and 21mm / 24.4mm profiles
  12. Someone told me that German Sandbergs are 39.5mm. I'm totally ignorant of Sandbergs, so I don't know that's true or not!
  13. I thought the B neck = 1⅝", and 40mm = 1&9/16"? Fender list the Nate M sig at 1.615", which is pretty much 41mm, though a little thinner than the standard modern P nut of 1.625" / 41.3mm I was looking around this subject a couple of years, and got the impression that Aria Pro II used 40mm back in the 80s, but I might have been confused. Someone told me of a Korean Spector NS-94 that was 40mm. Someone else mentioned a fretless Ibanez Roadstar II. Which is all a bit vague; today the Bass Centre's Power Bass p-bass is listed as 40mm / 1.57". On the Maruszczyk configurator both 40mm and 38mm are standard options for the models I've played around with (Jake and Jazzus) [In my head, 40mm aka 1+9/16" is an M neck .... because in the alphabet M lies exactly halfway between J and P 😬 ]
  14. Meanwhile on the thread about not buying basses in 2022, one participant has just bought his 17th bass of the year.
  15. By changing the terms to bass bought PLUS basses sold, @Maude can finally disappear into the chasing pack: 6+11=17 — Eldon Tyrell 6+8=14 — Roger2611 7+7=14 — AndyTravis 3+9=12 — Ed_S 7+5=12 — Paolo85 4+7=11 — Paul S 9+1=10 — Maude 2+7=9 — Doctor J 4+4=8 — sbrag 3+4=7 — 40hz 4+3=7 — Franticsmurf 5+1=6 — BlueMoon 4+2=6 — BassAgent 4+2=6 — BillyBass 3+3=6 — kodiakblair

  17. One bass in the first three months. 15 in the remaining nine months. One every 18 days 👊
  18. If you were looking for a way to slow down, I could recommend ordering a G&L. I placed an order on 2 March 2022 and still have no reasonable hope of even perhaps receiving it until I'm within spitting distance of the first anniversary. And since I paid for it in full in August, the temptation of foolishly spending my money elsewhere has not had the chance of even presenting itself. All in all, very satisfactory 😬
