  1. Clarification please: was this just a neck? If so, I think your sum for entire basses is 4-5=-1?
  2. I'm so glad that nobody's had just 1 bass in and 1 bass out and it was the same bass coming and going, that would be a real tearjerker.

  4. A long long time ago I was in a Thai restaurant in Salisbury. The music was on traditional Thai instruments. It took me several tracks before I realised that I was listening to Prince's greatest hits.
  5. The four basses refers to the number of basses involved in your comings and goings - you gained four, and both of the two basses you sold were of that four. I bought one and sold another, which is why mine says (2 basses) Got it? Right, good
  6. Yeah I can't work that one out either. I ordered one in March, paid for it in August, thinking it was about to be finished, and am still awaiting it. I decided not to include it on the grounds that as soon as it arrives I'll be selling my Matt Freeman P.
  7. It hadn't occurred to me consider bought-and-returned as worthy of being mentioned - for me it's just a sale that hasn't completed. I did it twice in 2022, not a figure I'm very proud of, tbh, but necessary as, too my dismay, neither was right for me.
  8. I thought that of mine, too, but then reflected that the net number of pickups had gone down 1.... 😕
  9. Added the numbers you were too ashamed to include 😜
  10. This post prompted me to start this thread
  11. I bought one (an SB-1) and sold one (a BB424). So.... 1 - 1 = 0 ....a pretty dull performance. Sorry. Presumably some of us have been having a more adventurous time.....? (ps at least my 0 involved 2 different basses.... 😬)
  12. I'm sure he didn't pay for it, but at least Ed F is actually gigging his MV, not just snuggling up to it on YouTube.
  13. I once thought that there should be a biography of Django Reinhardt called Giving Two Fingers To The World
  14. After I had done my music degree at university, I did three years postgraduate performance study at music college (very classical; nothing to do with bass playing). In our first week, the department's deputy head said to us, avoid the coffee shop discussions about technique — excellent advice that we were all too foolish to take.
  15. The idea that there is one set place for the thumb requires the idea that the relationship between a thumb and the rest of its hand is always the same. My fingers are medium length at best, but the thumb seems to have come from a different set of gauges. Except when playing a neck with a very deep profile (eg a BB424) my left thumb has to be allowed to wander around, keeping itself out of trouble as best it can. If I park my right thumb on the pickup in the classic prissy white boy style, my first two finger scarcely reach the E string, let alone the rest. So either I have to walk away from bass playing, or the uptight notions of bass playing taught by the Neasden University of Music (formerly World Of Carpets Brent) can do one.
  16. I don't even know what the most I have actually paid is — I didn't dare add up the bits and do the currency conversions etc, I just shut my eyes and coughed up, as and when
  17. So I know for the 2023 thread, would receiving a bass that I've already ordered and fully paid for (and really ought to be here by now) be permitted?
