  1. He mentions him couple of times whilst taking a couple of minutes to talk through the bass they put together for him: (from 2'00")
  2. ps I like how they disguised them in big BB shells!
  3. Neck modelled on a 60s J, Dimarzio pickups.... but still a BB, right?
  4. Next you'll be telling us tort doesn't add richness to the tone
  5. Here's a video of four different splits being demoed on the same bass inc. a G&L MFD, a Fender alnico, and a Dimarzio I think I read they made for Ibanez
  6. In case you're not aware, G&L place their MFD split pickups slightly closer to the bridge than is the standard P spot, ⅜" / 9½mm iirc
  7. The MSRP for — — a non-standard neck profile: $72 — upgrade white pg to tort: $72 — upgrade alder body to empress: $143 — upgrade neck to quartersawn: $143 — tinting the satin neck: $143 — painting front of headstock black: $215 Actual prices are lower: once you've removed a typical discount from the $215, then added on UK customs charges, about £140
  8. SB-2 isn't exactly a P bass is it? Different style pickups in different positions.
  9. Just realised that the vendor of that ad @Giazonne Reyes is the selfsame person on this video I enjoyed so much
  10. This ad says 1 11/16" aka 43mm Love the inlaid logo!
  11. I watched a video of how you can fiddle with the preamps innards and it went right over my head 😂 But I did like that you ended up with a flat sound and two pre-tweaked sounds. Think I'd go for boosted mids and really boosted mids, please What is the nut width? I had been assuming it was the old fashioned full fat BB 43mm?
  12. Not a lot of bb1500a action on YouTube, and almost nothing worth sharing, but for a RHCP fan....
  13. A nice slightly-chatty youtube demo is as close as I like to get to a J 😷 And it really is a good one
  14. Ooh stacked hum cancelling pickups says the man on the YouTube video I'm watching
  15. Doesn't the word "vibe" indicate that this isn't a "replica" or "vintage reissue" or whatever? There's plenty in the specs of all the CV models that is different from the actual vintage basses.
  16. Sorry to miss the point, but what is that beautiful, compact semi?
  17. His tech is making sure he's got a fresh set of Rotosounds for every song
  18. Oh how I wish I had the necessary mitts for this. I've just been looking up prices. MRSP is now £1089. Bass Gallery had a used one for £700. This for only £450. Oh oh oh how I wish etc etc. Serial look up says built June 2020. https://www.fender.com/en-GB/electric-basses/precision-bass/vintera-50s-precision-bass/0149612354.html
  19. Looking at how much G&L charge to paint the front of a headstock black, I hate to think what factory shielding would add to the price
  20. This thread has sent me back to this advert. Mmmm.
  21. How does the neck feel, typical modern P? Or something a bit more old fashioned in depth and width? And the pg, has it really got the creaminess that's coming across in the photos, or is just reflecting warm lighting?
  22. My very dull answer to this thread back in November shamed me into having a good think about this. I then picked a cap value that I hoped would give my tone knob options that would I would find more appealing, and suddenly I have a knob that I'm using throughout its range 🙂
