  1. The greying out of threads which have been viewed goes a bit far, and is strangely uncomfortable to look at, kind of misty. Also, when the text goes further down than the thumbnail photo, it takes the opportunity to justify even further to the left
  2. So you could move it from the Basses I Regret Missing Out On pile to the Basses I Regret Selling pile?
  3. That one there, the guy who just bought it discovered that it didn't have the stock preamp, but fortunately he liked the replacement very much. More here
  4. I remember a 2024mx being on the list of possible trades for the 1300
  5. A friend of mine came round to see my new bass today. We decided the difference in character between my Dimarzioed-P and my 424 was well expressed by this pair of photos
  6. Thought people could cope with seeing this photo stolen from the TB BB thread BB615, BB425x, BBP35, BB425x, BB2025MX
  7. A friend came round to see and hear the new Squier. We decided that with both basses their sounds match their looks, and that this pair of photos nicely illustrates the difference
  8. I've just been getting used to a new box similar to yours, also going into an active speaker. While I've been very much enjoying building my patches, I can't shake the feeling that essentially I'm making Instagram filters to make my mundane bass playing seem a bit more exotic. If your bass and your bass playing don't need tonal filters to sound good before they hit the honest-as-possible amplification, take the compliment
  9. I get mystified when solo bassists play things like this entirely beyond the 12th fret. No lower than a guitar but with a constricted range and tonal palette, and heavy articulation too.
  10. I found a cure for daydreaming about a bass with a 44.5mm nut – own one with a 42mm nut. Strewth.
  11. I screwed up my courage and went searching in the unit's settings and found that – YES! – I can reassign the foot switches' functions. I've turned off clicking two buttons together, and have turned off holding a button down. Now I've just three simple buttons: two to go up / down through the patches, one to go to the tuner. Blissssss.
  12. When I was shopping a year ago, it had to be either an SR or a TRBX. After lots of practising, I decided the sound wasn't right for me, and discovered that I had developed sufficient strength and flexibility in my left hand to manage thicker necks. Had I gone for the SR, I could have given it away and lost £300. As it is, making a £300 loss selling the TRBX is taking time and effort.
  13. Being awarded Community Regular made me feel like I was the BassChat equivalent of Bran Flakes
  14. Presumably one ends with I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles?
  15. I just got Community Regular and Basschat Hero with the same post, and was very relieved it was a post about a bass that had earned me these precious trinkets, not some drivel on the Off Topic subforum
  16. When EBMM released that replica Cliff Williams Stingray recently, one of the 30 made was bought by the bassist in a leading US tribute band. He was very happy.
  17. I really don't understand the point of people being criticised for noting what is clearly an inputting slip in a thread entitled "bug hunt". Like I said before, if the people requesting observations think mine is worth ignoring, they're perfectly capable of ignoring it, and they don't need you slapping my wrist for them.
  18. The icons for EXPLORER and CONTRIBUTOR are the wrong way round – swapped round, the pattern of pairs would be completed, and the rainbow progression blue-green-yellow-red restored
  19. I'm always entertained by the idea that an unlined fingerboard is wildly impressive to people - the world is full of twelve year olds who can get around a cello or violin fingerboard equally competently. I'd rather have a lined fingerboard, so that it at first glance it just looks like a normal bass. But with no side markers, so that I was having to use my ears properly. (But not as much as I'd rather not bother at all: metal strings sound great kept taut by two other bits of metal)
  20. This dark grey writing looks good on white.... ....but not so much on black
  21. When I was umming and ahhing over an order I didn't complete, I was thinking that these lighter rosewood fretboards would go very nicely with cream or parchment pgs. Not that a pg seems to be the menu here.....oops
  22. I've got the impression that the answer to this question is lots
  23. Cliff Craig John Paul Steve Junior Mark Pino John Paul Geddy Jaco Bernard
