1. no worries, dont worry bout it.
2.
hmmm PF-500 in the for sale section...
il keep it in mind good condition?
3. do you have any sound clips of it?
4. I tried out a pf500 in andertons today. I dno if it was the head or cabs, but something didnt sound right. Frist through a tc electronic 410, which sounded a bit sterile. then through an ampeg b 410, which sounded to honky, and middy. tried the 350 through an ashdown 112. thats was pretty good. also tried the micro cl, and that gave me nearer the sound i wanted!
5. Thanks dudes I think thats a wise choice, to try some out. Planned on going down to the local shop to try out some. Not a great selection but got some i like. The aquilar cabs alone are about my budget for a whole setup! Im sure they are great tho Im in love with the tone here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0M9CUppC1Y i believe hes using a svt 400. theres a fender BXR bass amp on the rig as well. but not sure if its being used. mesa cabs.
6. So im in need of a new amp, my laney dp100 keep cutting out, and doesn't go quite loud enough. Il mostly be playing my Gibbons RD artist, which i lvoe as it gives me the grunty top end i want. A couple of heads i have been looking at are Ampeg portaflex 500 Ashdown mag 600 http://www.andertons...mag410t-cab.asp Aquilar tonehammer 350 or 500 Lightweight, larger, or valve? then cabs might be best? somthing 4x10 what do you folks think? It doesnt have to be new, any secondhand ones i might look out for? cheers!
7. GAK has them listed for 320 at the mo. sale price i presume but got it price matched at andertons. no neck dive at all! the position of the strap button comes on the back which helps. the neck seems thinner on this than the normal thunderbird iv, so less weight one thing im not overjoyed with is the headstock colouring. i wanted the recessed bit around the edge to be a definite brown, but its very black. other than that its a proper job
8. Just bought one of these. in sunburst. for 320. very nice compared to the normal epi t bird. lighter, thinner neck. would looks great with chrome hardware. the sound seems to be quite muddy. maybe its jsut my amp?
9. If you ever fancied selling the leccys. you know where to come could do with some for my build but youd be crazy to do so. how about some SDG guitar sized humbuckers. buy a NOS rd pickguard off flebay when the guys got them up again, and a little bit of modding to make them fit properly. (pups are smaller by about 2mm)
10. WANT It anoys me the lack of videos of these bass's being played normally, and showing what they can do.
11. player should use whatever he wants to get the desired sound and style.
12. My Gibson g3 I swapped it for another bass at a shop a few years ago. regretted that saw it on ebay jsut over a year ago and bought it back, though when i bought it back it didnt come with the hard case. some bugger must of got rid of it.
13. Andy Baxters always seem a bit costly :/ It would be cheaper for me to buy this one from the usa, pay postage and import! 14. Iv given the one in Andertons a good thrash a few times, and its a pretty awesome thing. sounds the nads. But for the money i would rather buy a secondhand artist. He seems to really make his artist growl nicely in this gig www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ee6xkwVucIE www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2WHuYIb1kI
15. Paid £20 6 years ago to have a Gibby g3 shipped over from Germany. Probably cost the same to ship it down the road!
16. talking about an Artist reissue. INstead of having all that moog circuit boards. wouldnt there be a more modern way around it. all that stuff inside could probably be reduced to a few small boards and chips.
17. big want! but for the moeny id rather buy a secondhand RD Artist. and i wish they had made it 34 1/2" scale, as it was. not 34 " Krist used a standard ocasionally, which he put some jazz pickups in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3limq8huF80 and more recently http://youtu.be/WYy8hz-7Cqw
18. It is a pretty classy inlay. a bit hard to replicate...
19. ahh, thats interesting to know. thanks. I'l stick to a wooden veneer. tho slightly anoying that the heads slightly over 8" long
20. ok, cool, cheers guys. I'v got a gibson neck for my homebuild RD artist that needs somthing ontop of the head, i have some ebony but maybe thats a bit nice to paint black..
21. Does anybody know what the finish on Gibson bass headstocks is. e.g. RD artist, ripper etc I assume its an ebony veneer/ top, but you can never see any grain. jsut a straight black finsih . Is it painted? cheerz Andy
22. i have all this to lookforward to then! if i can ever even find a band
23. titebond it is then cheers guys.
