Thanks mate, I'm sure there'll be a workaround for the levels, is it just recording levels or do you have the same issue live? BTW, re clipping, that's what I thought! I recorded a 40-min vocal track about 6-months ago and was horrified when I went to process that it was clipping about 80% of the time and was very noticeable (a commercial voiceover). I searched through the various audio forums and came across Izotope RX 10 which not only fixed it but opened up a huge new World of options for troubleshooting dodgy audio, most of which I had never dreamed of (I was trained in the 80's and still see audio through an analogue lens)! OK, it took around twice as long to clean up the track as it did to record it, but given the embarrassment of having to ask him to repeat the recording, it was a huge win, and if it left any artefacts, I can't hear them.

That's what I wanted to hear, although why are the stems low level?

We're a small acoustic band so a little late to the digital mixer party, but having realised that we need better monitoring and want to record multiple tracks, and having read a lot of threads on here and elsewhere, it seems not only that a digital mixer is going to make life a whole lot easier on stage, but that in many cases it will be equally useful for recording in the studio possibly making traditional studio interfaces redundant? Where on this journey is this tech at present and which mixers represent the best option for stage and studio use?

No just too close to the edge of the board and as the bridge allowed no adjustment I had a new nut cut and installed

My Bongo 5 had an awful problem with the top string running off the fretboard, which was not only very annoying but apparently quite common. Looks like yours might suffer from this also so could need some work at the nut which is how I corrected mine But as others have said, lovely instruments 👍

Yep, I'm no fan of the PUP LEDs so have disconnected them as well as the neck LEDs (i.e., removed the battery), and yes, the pickups themselves are passive so require no power

Ah, but the moment you do that you say to yourself "Shit, where do I now put that nice new pickup....?"

I get it, and a lot of that is true. But for some folks that versatility is important, not just within a single set or recording, but more commonly between them, it's bloody useful to have a single bass that can do multiple classic tones at the flick of a switch (and you can turn the lights off BTW) 👍

I'm selling an Enfield as I'm no longer playing electric bass. The reason you don't see many for sale is because they are THAT good, seriously, people who have them hang onto them. And yes, while pre-amp selection makes a difference, the Quads replicate Jazz, Precision, and Stingray basses perfectly, as well as offering a whole range of other options. Mine's fretless but as a Fender fit instrument you can pretty much put any aftermarket neck on it. I suspect the reason they were discontinued is similar to for example the EBMM US SUB range, combination of the costs of making such good instruments plus competitive market forces etc, so often the case in audio gear.

Get a pro setup and start experimenting with changes from there Andy 👍
