  1. All the best with the recovery @Telebass, start of a new road perhaps 👍
  2. I think it's great that Bass Direct are looking to stock uprights, despite the fact that many of us play both electric and upright there are very few shops that deal with both at any real quality level. But if they're looking to get into this space they'll need to make sure they have an expert because neither the visuals or the written description encourage much confidence in the instrument, for example 'USA made strings' and 'Quality machine heads', there's a lot of competition at that price point from far more established and far more detailed retailers such as Thomann. But I hope they're successful, seems a step in the right direction 👍
  3. Many thanks for all the above post folks, apologies for delayed response, I was planning on wiring it in this weekend until I read.... ....which is an interesting post, thanks @BigRedX. The tone circuit itself is passive, or certainly appears and responds as if passive (VVT), but I must admit that the electronics in the rear cavity certainly look more complicated than they'd need to be to simply switch on the lights so I assume you're indicating that's a pre-amp albeit preset?
  4. That’s outstanding, rare combination very technical, very busy, and very musical 👍
  5. Seems to be a lot of love on here for Bass Gallery and some hostility towards Bass Direct, my experience is 100% in favour of Bass Direct who have been without problem on around 30 purchases
  6. i tried to buy from them directly so no excuses 🤔
  7. If you’re buying online from there I’d suggest you check it’s actually in stock, I bought a vintage Fender from their website a couple if years that had apparently sold weeks previously, they were very casual about it also
  8. No more PUPs Mick just an active tone circuit, currently passive 👍
  9. This one came with a passive tone circuit but that’s still a helpful observation thanks 🙏
  10. Hi folks, I want to install a J-Retro into my Enfield. The bass has the 2xQuad PUPs as well as neck LEDs, both circuits powered from the battery in the rear cavity (photo below). While I doubt it's entirely beyond my electrical skills to wire the J-Retro to the existing battery, I'm wondering whether running three discrete circuits from the same battery is going to run it down very quickly and whether I should install the J-Retro as usual with it's own battery in the control cavity? The only downside of the latter is that the magnetic retaining system for the rear cavity in the photo above makes changing batteries tool free, quick and easy whereas changing the battery installed with the J-Retro is a PITA. Thoughts/advice most welcome 👍
  11. That is a rather elegant solution, well done. Reminded me of Drillium, when before the arrival of composite components in the late 80's, pro cyclists used to drill out various components to save weight, most frequently the cranks. And occasionally they failed catastrophically as the result, but apparently it's a fashion that has returned courtesy of the hipster/fixie community
  12. Even a heavy Mustang is still on the light side by comparison with most Fenders I'd have thought?
  13. Madness, does he not understand the bass sales process?
  14. Well I’d like to hear one of those 👍
  15. … in fact I’d quite like to hear a Precision with a Mustang PUP…
  16. I think there’s some elusive mojo in the Mustang PUP, very lazy sounding compared to it’s Precision equivalent, a little Mediterranean in attitude?
  17. ABBA's basslines are quite extraordinary, and quite prog in their own way, certainly equal to many prog players in terms of skill and creativity
  18. Welcome @Wellsyboy, I'd recommend that you simply listen to the music you like and pay attention to the bass parts. The likes of Jaco, genius though he was, are not a great starting point for a study of bass, there's are some amazing bass parts hidden in some otherwise quite ordinary songs. Good luck 👍
  19. Been less Jazzy round here a while, hope it reverts soon 👍
