  1. ABBA's basslines are quite extraordinary, and quite prog in their own way, certainly equal to many prog players in terms of skill and creativity
  2. Welcome @Wellsyboy, I'd recommend that you simply listen to the music you like and pay attention to the bass parts. The likes of Jaco, genius though he was, are not a great starting point for a study of bass, there's are some amazing bass parts hidden in some otherwise quite ordinary songs. Good luck 👍
  3. Been less Jazzy round here a while, hope it reverts soon 👍
  4. So, metal polish ordered, next job is to identify which of the screws is rattling, which I suspect is going to go hand in hand with replacing the old, ugly and rusty flat-head screws with some nice, new and shiny cross head equivalents 👍
  5. Yep, we hear with our eyes and our emotions more than we realise. I get it with strings a lot, swear I can hear a nasty overtone but in reality my brain’s focussing on and unconsciously amplifying a very small part of the overall sounds making me irritable and causing a viscous circle 👍
  6. You’re gonna put FCS out of business Dan 👍
  7. As above really, I’m messing with some bitsas, can I use a hand-held such as this? https://www.toolstation.com/dewalt-dcw604nt-xj-18v-xr-brushless-14-router/p75238?store=E1&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&mkwid=_dm&pcrid=&pkw=&pmt=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5o7-x9nj_AIVh7btCh130AV3EAQYASABEgLCiPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  8. Or in strict legal terms it's a fender Jaco signature jazz that has NOT had the neck epoxied by Jaco's bass tech
  9. Two SVT-IIs, only Walshy could do that 👍
  10. I owned a mid-late 70's Jazz in black, and the original factory finish didn't have much to commend it either
  11. Wish I looked that cool when I get cramp, got finger cramp at a gig just before Xmas (stupidly experimenting with short-scale) and apparently looked like I'd forgotten how to play
  12. I bought a rather lovely SSL Fusion from Bruce, great comms, very quickly sent and very well packaged, which was just as well as the courier did what couriers do best, and all very quickly sorted with the courier by Bruce also. Highly recommended geezer 👍

  14. Leave as is I think Jack, I really rather like it, it's clearly been on a journey and carries the battle scars and modifications to prove it, although I guess in time I might change my mind. I'm going to experiment with strings - Gamut G and D are going on this evening with incoming Eudoxa for A and E - and of course that can lead to a very special level of madness and expense before I even think about restoration!
  15. It's arrived, more details/pics in the mega thread
  16. That's an odd link, pretty sure it wasn't BOC I was thinking of
