  1. So, metal polish ordered, next job is to identify which of the screws is rattling, which I suspect is going to go hand in hand with replacing the old, ugly and rusty flat-head screws with some nice, new and shiny cross head equivalents 👍
  2. Yep, we hear with our eyes and our emotions more than we realise. I get it with strings a lot, swear I can hear a nasty overtone but in reality my brain’s focussing on and unconsciously amplifying a very small part of the overall sounds making me irritable and causing a viscous circle 👍
  3. You’re gonna put FCS out of business Dan 👍
  4. As above really, I’m messing with some bitsas, can I use a hand-held such as this? https://www.toolstation.com/dewalt-dcw604nt-xj-18v-xr-brushless-14-router/p75238?store=E1&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&mkwid=_dm&pcrid=&pkw=&pmt=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5o7-x9nj_AIVh7btCh130AV3EAQYASABEgLCiPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  5. Or in strict legal terms it's a fender Jaco signature jazz that has NOT had the neck epoxied by Jaco's bass tech
  6. Two SVT-IIs, only Walshy could do that 👍
  7. I owned a mid-late 70's Jazz in black, and the original factory finish didn't have much to commend it either
  8. Wish I looked that cool when I get cramp, got finger cramp at a gig just before Xmas (stupidly experimenting with short-scale) and apparently looked like I'd forgotten how to play
  9. I bought a rather lovely SSL Fusion from Bruce, great comms, very quickly sent and very well packaged, which was just as well as the courier did what couriers do best, and all very quickly sorted with the courier by Bruce also. Highly recommended geezer 👍
  10. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195566906021?hash=item2d88b22aa5:g:nCkAAOSwZPhjzI~u&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoNnguZgk96il0HqrBX8Ds3Cj7nL2cLmeO4PF1z0UXHwqTNS23yLaeOMMCSY4BOkW5HLYC%2F%2FGvmo8F5pjSb8%2BbjG89egzN8TDrl3DceQ3mq23aU8CfLegRznRAHmQLOTT%2BJqv2rBNHoxBMgtpGHdFjHpzA3MXVMqln6o22Jo49HizE76c2uH2MD1fYR7H5peepSQeVujNx1Y%2BG26SZOU899o%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_Cu3a67YQ
  11. Leave as is I think Jack, I really rather like it, it's clearly been on a journey and carries the battle scars and modifications to prove it, although I guess in time I might change my mind. I'm going to experiment with strings - Gamut G and D are going on this evening with incoming Eudoxa for A and E - and of course that can lead to a very special level of madness and expense before I even think about restoration!
  12. It's arrived, more details/pics in the mega thread
  13. That's an odd link, pretty sure it wasn't BOC I was thinking of
  14. So, it arrived, here he is getting to know his new big brother I have to admit that I'm ever so slightly in love with this mongrel of a bass. The tone is WAY better than I expected, quite mellow yet articulate albeit with a rather baked-in low level reverb, courtesy I'd guess of the aircraft hanger-like construction. The first thing I discovered is that if it gets cold it rattles, and when there are around 150 screws into the metal it can be quite an ask to find which of them is causing the problem. The big test of course is how it responds in a room with a drummer and a mic, I'll be reporting back. One very happy owner, as the seller said, I now have custody, it's a responsibility I intend to take seriously 👍
  15. Great playing and great tone mate, thanks for sharing 👍
  16. Lovely playing and lovely tone, well done. Your band remind me of another band and it's bugging the hell out of me which band it is. Lovely music either way, thanks for sharing 👍
  17. Noted! I'd love to hear the recording also?
