FS/FT: New unused set of Pirastro Eudoxas 3/4 - *SOLD*
Beedster replied to Beedster's topic in EUBs & Double Basses For Sale
Thanks Nick, yes these are now extremely expensive, I have no idea how the prices are justified other than by the fact that people still pay them (and there are 'awaiting delivery' labels on most sites reinforcing this). I'm sure that they will compliment any instrument and player. As I mentioned when I listed them, I have it on very authority that they worked very well on the bass I currently own, but then I'm also very happy with the tone I'm getting, so I'm a little torn between trying them out and possibly being dazzled, or leaving on my current strings and staying pleasantly contented with my tone! A very First World problem of course 🤔 -
FS: Mesa M6 Carbine 2x12 combo £500 collection only - *SOLD*
Beedster replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I've the opportunity to buy a couple of things I've wanted/needed for a while and find myself a little low in the music budget, so while a big part of me wants to keep this the common sense part of me says sell it. The standard 19" 3u rackmount head is removable so I'll do the combo for £800, or the head for £550 (I'd quite like to keep the cab if someone wants the head only). Combo will need to be collected, head I can post. I suspect I'll withdraw this again if I find the money from somewhere else 👍 -

Fender limited edition Mike Kerr Jaguar...Tiger's Blood Orange!
Beedster replied to jd56hawk's topic in Bass Guitars
I think I get the sneaky feeling that in the video he's doing his best to show the bass in it's worst light? There are certainly issues, but also when he plays unprocessed he also puts in about 90% less effort than when he plays processed, which probably makes more difference than would changing out the PUPs -

That was my feeling, the saddles appear to be offline Re sig, not sure I agree, I doubt they've made a purposely misaligned instrument to meet the endorsed player's requirements? -

I'm not sure, he wouldn't have such uneven spacing, and the jury's out on whether the strings need to run directly over those pole pieces -

Although his bridge setup doesn't help, bridge doesn't look great? -

Mmm, if Fender were venturing into, I don't know, oboes, cor anglais, or bassoons, then I'd agree. But irrespective of the different (for Fender) PUP configuration, this is nothing more than two bits of wood that are pretty much the same that Fender have been making since 1951 that need to be aligned with a couple of bits of metal. No bedding in of processes required to my mind. Having said that, it's good to see Fender doing something that isn't a J or P derivative for sure, -
Gotta be quick when it comes to these things mate. There were so many options on offer I couldn't resist. There were options around Parker (Lady Penelope's 'man') but it felt I might be getting obsessive
-
And I dread to think what they'd do with a Stingray
-
They could probably lose several Thunderbirds
-
Yep, the more discerning you are about - and the more you pay for - wood, the more chance you have of building instruments using wood with largely consistent characteristics across instruments. Which is why top builders are able to make the statements about wood, and why all bets are off with Fender
-
Which is true and speaks to the variability between component parts 👍

Just checked, he used Secursus https://www.secursus.com/en-gb/?gad=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImaGpvKyTgQMVRvDjBx3oUQtjEAAYAiAAEgJsd_D_BwE

I sold a bass to a member here recently and he sorted his own insurance for the courier, seems what sensible people do, but still doesn't remove the 24-48 hours of stress

Mmm, to use your own phrase, no you've got that wrong. If you're going to bring in the laws of physics then the transmission of energy through a medium will differ with the characteristics of that medium, type, density, age, moisture. Yes it makes little difference most of the time but certainly can make a big difference in some. Whether or not it suits snakeoil salesmen, science (physics) also attests to this reality

I'm with you mate, but for those who aren't......

With no disrespect to anyone who has/does, I really struggle to understand why anyone would entrust anything of any value to Evri, they are a mass-market small parcel business delivery service that clearly has a 20% loss and/or damage rate built into it's KPIs. Hope this works out but for god's sake, next time don't use Evri (I won't tell you my horror story - it was an incoming and expensive parcel (studio gear) but suffice to say I wouldn't use them unless they paid me the equivalent value of the item in question as a deposit first. I specify with sellers that if they use Evri I'm not buying)

That's a good point Re 'in the wrong place' does it really matter if we all know where it is and how to get there? For me it's probably a more useful forum than A&C, and given thread titles can on occasion be misleading - meaning I might miss a useful PA-related thread in A&C - I'm pleased we've got it. Thanks mods 👍
