  1. Looks familiar 👍
  2. Yep, it’s happened to me a few times, feels like you’re dreaming that you’re on-stage at a gig, then you wake up and you’re on stage at a gig. In my case they’re micro sleeps of literally milliseconds each time but such is the nature of sleep it can feel like a whole lot longer. Not risky on stage (starting to lose balance will wake you immediately) but f***ing dangerous behind the wheel where you don’t lose balance 😕
  3. Nothing to see here @Sean
  4. Reasonable point well made 👍
  5. I’ll see what I can do mate 👍
  6. @walshy has dangled a rather elegant piece of Californian Engineering so I'm probably going to put this on eBay and Reverb this week. I'm happy to talk deals here first. I'll also take a load of detailed photos tomorrow (Monday) and post them here. It's an extraordinary instrument and if it's on your bucket list now's your chance 👍
  7. @walshy @AndyTravis I wouldn't mess with you two geezers, lovely gentlemen though I know you both to be
  8. That was a good move 👍
  9. That’s a beauty, almost looks like a bass 👍
  10. @walshy let’s talk mate 👍
  11. Fixed 🙂👍
  12. What I love about Rush, or one of the things I love about Rush, is that unlike most supergroups, there's not a single track that doesn't sound like Rush. I guess some would see that as a limitation but it's a rarer band in which all parts (vox, gtr, bass, and drums) have a consistent signature. U2 are potentially in the same space in terms of signature, but IMO in nothing like the same league creatively. I will never forget the first time I heard Spirit of Radio, sublime moment, that track grooves, rocks, and transcends all at the same time. 38 seconds in, when the drums and bass lock in, just f***ing glorious. And as if by the magic at your fingers......
  13. Had a funny sense of Rickenbacker when I read the thread title
  14. Crikey, the bridge plate is bent AND pulling out the bass side screw, and it's likely to get worse. To prevent this sort of thing most bridges have three or more screws behind the saddles (your have two, Fender usually have five), so I'd suggest getting a Fender style BBOT and drilling the three - possibly five depending on how the two outside holes on the Fender bridge line up with the two screw holes in question - extra holes required 👍
  15. PS the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, working at which was something of a goal for me as an 18-21 year old student of Electronic Music Technology in the early 80's, weren't in live music sound production but were focussed on sound effects and entire soundtracks for BBC shows, where would Dr Who have been without them EDIT: Just checked out the Wiki page on them and having been closed in later 90's some of their original members still do live music/audio performances using some of the original equipment 👍
  16. I don't think the BBC were worried that their sound techs couldn't manage, they were more worried - correctly some/much the time - about that the acts themselves. But I suspect the economics of the show and the intended audience also lent themselves to non-live performances. IIRC they did do one or more live episodes that appeared to justify their earlier non-live position (I seem to remember T'Pau making a bit of a mess of things.....) It was always amusing watching bands like The Cure and Stranglers taking the piss by switching instruments/vocals, not playing in time or at all etc.
  17. Are the whole band playing to pre-recorded tracks or just the bass? If the latter, accept that you’re not part of the band, if the former, ask yourself if you want to be part of the band/mime act in the first place
  18. Deep down everyone loves Rush 👍
  19. They’re called Mesa Engineering for a reason 👍
  20. Apparently when I play DB I look like i'm dancing with a beautiful woman (comment from more than one audience member). However, when I actually dance with a beautiful woman I tend to look like I'm misusing a piece of agricultural machinery. Dancing is a complete mystery to me
  21. It’s just a generation thing, nothing more 👍
  22. That is not what you said though, you dismissed a whole category of instruments on the basis of spurious technological and audio grounds. Happy for more basses in the world, but the idea that if there’s more than a certain n= in the band you need a boutique 5er remains utter bollocks 👍
  23. Don’t try and change it then 👍
