FS: RME Babyface Pro **SOLD**
Beedster replied to Beedster's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
Thanks Martin, further details on this unit here https://archiv.rme-audio.de/en/products/babyface_pro.php. It's a bloody good piece of kit, great preamps, converters and drivers, bus powered (which I've always preferred to be honest), simple to use, works with a very wide range of hardware/software, and not only built like a tank but supplied with an equally tank-like hard case that will also store the USB/midi breakout cables. I'm only selling this as I've recently switched to UAD, and whilst you'd need to have very good ears to hear any difference between the two units, the UAD device allows me to use their plug-ins which was the deciding factor in the RME/UAD decision making process. -
Great piece of kit I've had for years but now surplus to requirement. Can run into Thunderbolt 2 using one adapter or into Thunderbolt 3 using two adapters. Bus powered. Has the Host light issue from new that is common with these, means you have to turn it on twice at the start of each recording session. Having said this, I can say with confidence that it's been rock solid through hundreds of sessions.

Virtually unused, bought at the beginning of lockdown for a project that's still on hold. Plenty on line about just how useful a box of tricks this is. Immaculate condition as you can see from the close up photos. Mic & power supply both included in sale although not in photos. Insured courier around £30.

Exactly the same cause as my current software woes, worst decision I ever made I think

Lovely, and yes, Promenade are great people, went well out of their way to help me a few years ago when they really didn’t need to

Thanks WM, I like the 'looks similar' as I've found a few apps that don't and that in itself is a big part of the learning curve. Is it generally stable, loads OK, no crashes etc on your machine. Also, do you have to use iLok to run it - I was require to link the download to my iLok account - or is that simply for paid-for plug-ins?

Really looking forward to seeing this develop, great work

As it says above really, I've had it with Avid and the concurrent increasingly poor delivery and increasingly high cost of Pro Tools, and having just invested in an AUD interface LUNA looks like it might solve some problems and save some money. Keen to hear people's thoughts, although either way I'm going to do some experimentation this week.

Logged into Pro Tools today to receive an error message stating that I have five days left to renew my subscription and that Avid are giving me extra time? I pay monthly, the payment went through about two weeks ago (with the inevitable extremely slow log in the session following that monthly renewal). Total log in time today over 5 minutes, so this is really the final straw with PT, or more to the point perhaps, with AVID and their appalling subscription model. I still have all the original disks from when I bought PT, I'm wondering if I can reinstall an old OS onto my 'recording' iMac and simply use it un-networked?

Quite like to collar one to be honest

Great for bass licks

Growly tone though

I can find lot of information about using a Thunderbolt 2 hardware device into a computer with Thunderbolt 3 ports, I've not had much luck with the opposite, a T3 device into a computer with T2 ports. Any know if this is going to work before I invest the rather extortionate £45 on an adapter? Thanks. Chris

I feel your pain mate, this is pretty much where I found myself this time last year. Only takes on bit of software that will no longer run on an OS and things start getting messy. I 'upgraded' the OS on my MacBook around that time to allow myself to use some Apps I needed and nearly everything else, including my Thunderbolt display, simply stopped working. The messing about and workarounds got silly to I ended up buying a Mac Mini and reverting the MacBook. I'm still trying to work out the best way to have all of my machines using the same software and, ideally all able to connect to the same hardware. Re recording software, I'm currently looking at Luna as I have swapped one of my RME's for a UAD. I've probably made things worse however

That's lucky, 'cos without the Wal for scale, none of us would have the slightest clue how big a bass rig is That's a stunning rig mate, wish I could justify spending the money on it, or perhaps more correctly, wish I had the money to spend on it. Sorry to hear about the work situation, good luck and hey, you've got a Wal

On its way to Walshy as I write

That made me smile, brilliant. I don't know who the signature belongs to. Oh and by the way, I can't authenticate the signature. Oh, or the bass. But it was signed in 2007 in San Francisco. This type of advert is sadly mostly absent today's eBay, part of me would love to know who's signature it is

Ah, in your first post you said it was new. Yep, certainly sounds like it needs to get to a tech for a look-over. Might be something you could do yourself but probably best not to try

FS: Avalon VT737sp channel strip/compressor
Beedster replied to Beedster's topic in Effects For Sale
I'm withdrawing this, at least for the time being, as whilst basses come and go, these are few and far between and increasingly expensive used. If I got my work location sorted I would be using it daily, and I think that's what I'm going to aim for. I'm rather embarrassed to admit that I assumed I could replace this hardware version with the UAD plugin which gets some very good reviews, but I didn't do my homework and that version will only run on Universal Audio hardware. So, all in all it's nice to be able to keep it
