  1. Yep, so many people get that wrong "why would the G-string rattle when I play the A-string?", because it's the frequency of the note that causing the rattle, not the mechanical components of the string on which the note is played. We used to rehearse in studio which had so many loose and noisy items in the room that you could play a kind of mid-70's Dusseldorf school avante garde industrial music piece just by kwnoing which notes on which instruments were going to start the various bits of metal rattling and for how long
  2. Mmmmm, a new bass on which the back bow is so severe as to stop the strings vibrating below 7th fret has experienced more than some subtle changes in temperature/humidity (even if not tuned to pitch), it's been poorly built, even if the extent of that poor QC is a bridge that's too low or a neck that's at the wrong angle to the body. If it were a solid body on which it's easy to adjust things like string height and action, and even to shim the neck, I might advise a bit of experimentation, but not on an acoustic in which the options are generally far more limited. Back to the manufacturer with it quickly
  3. Hi David, not accurately I''m afraid, but it's certainly not at the heavy end, especially given it's late 70's
  4. Hi Cal, bought for a lot more than I'm selling from a guy who makes them out of reclaimed wood. It's bloody nice. Happy to post it, it weighs a ton but it's pretty much unbreakable Cheers Chris
  5. All good Andy, despite being home of the most notorious of the variants, things slowly sorting themselves out All the best mate Chris
  6. Hey Andy, hope all’s well mate, it’s 22w x 19d x 11h inches, it’s slightly sloped at the front so they’re maximums. Cheers. Chris
  7. You need to send it straight back, anything you try to do to sort it out might firstly make things worse but secondly invalidate warranty. A new instrument should at the very least be playable. Good luck. Chris
  8. Not raving psychopaths at all, just psychopaths
  9. That cat is you isn’t it Skank. I always sensed a strong feline presence amongst the more usually canine membership
  10. 99.9% of the time Basschat is a good place
  11. Ongoing clear-out means this lovely thing is also on its way. Heavily reliced, routed for P/J, battery compartment in the back, but man, it's lovely. Loaded with Jason Lollar P/J set, Kiogon harness (with micro switch for PUP switching), and a Gotoh VTB-4 bridge. Neck is NOT included. Please ask if you need photos of any specifics Cheers Chris
  12. More stuff from my studio. Bit retro now, it will work as a standalone mixer, and if you know what you're doing with the tech, there are plenty of workarounds to get it working with current software/hardware. Selling it because I generally do not know what I'm doing
  13. I think it's very genre specific, arguably a defining year for the mellower end of hip hop, some early indicators of indie and Britpop to come, a pretty bad year for rock (although that all changed on September 24th the following year), but terrible year for pop, although part of me has a sneaking liking for Van the Man
  14. Clearing out a lot of stuff that has amassed in my studio. This does what it says on the tin
  15. Having a clear-out of unused studio gear. Built like a brick s*******e, big, solid, heavy, lovely to look at. Some would say it's a work of art
  16. Having a clear-out of gear that's not getting used. I have an RME rack version and this unit probably hasn't been used in a year, and no more than 100 hours in total before that. Great unit, easily portable also. I have all the original cables and packaging somewhere also, they will be included Cheers Chris
  17. Some very very good people here, and yes, not all the good stuff gets into feedback. Couple of members have shown real kindness recently, and it’s much appreciated. I won’t mention their names as it would probably embarrass them, but thanks guys. Chris
  18. For some reason 1990 reminds me of Alice Cooper?
  19. A lot of cheaper bass gear sounds better than we expect. It's often the expectations that are at fault
