  1. More than a few folks on here have been bloody kind to me over the years, so if I can help someone out at a difficult time I’m more than happy to 👍
  2. As was I 😆 Hope all’s well mate 👍
  3. That's different though mate, having nothing to do with audio quality and everything to do with originality which - in the antiques world which is really where the collectable end of the bass spectrum resides - is rare and therefore costly. Point taken though 👍
  4. This was a very useful thread 👍
  5. A similar finding to wine experts who, when various wines are chilled to the same temperature, can struggle to differentiate red from white apparently
  6. Beautiful, seems to sit somewhere between Fender, Musicman, and - dare I say - Wal 👍
  7. Fender fit Jazz neck that is 👍
  8. If you mess it up it's too late. Seriously though, you won't, at least as long as you buy a Fender-fit neck which all of those I've listed above are
  9. I've swapped hundred of Fender, Allparts, Squier, Warmoth, Mighty Mite, Musikraft and similar necks over the years and have not once had to use sandpaper. All the brands fit each others necks/bodies within tolerable tolerances. There will be some exceptions and some imperfections, but they are few and far between and rarely affect either tone or mechanics
  10. Yes, it will work 99% of the time without modification, with the possible exception of small adjustments to saddle height and potentially intonation
  11. The research all looks legit, but these days, with the proliferation of pay to publish journals, so does everything. As if to prove this fact, my most recent paper "Is it good for metal: a quantitative analysis of resonance patterns in pointy, classic, and hybrid bass guitar headstocks in late 80's rock" is upcoming in the International Journal of Very Important Science. Copies available in request
  12. No it doesn't, no more than a library argues for the validity of any one of the books on its shelves
  13. Indeed, someone by this good man's Spector
  14. Tell me about it mate
  15. Really enjoyed reading both of those, also very helpful, many thanks @Kickass and @Leonard Smalls 👍
  16. I joined Bassworld early on to find a specific bass I wanted to buy, IIRC first response was "You'll never find one of those" while the second was "There's one for sale here.......". Pretty much sums up this place, and humans in general 👍
  17. It was this , bugged me solid for about 20 minutes
  18. Nice, very reminiscent of an 80's track that I can't quite put my finger on.............
  19. So, I’ve done my homework on multi-band compression. I understand its application in music, I’m less clear regarding it’s use - at least by comparison with a single band compressor - with the spoken word. I guess a good question would be what frequency ranges could I be looking to target more than others and why, assuming there are no plosives or esses to deal with?
  20. Great post @kodiakblair, many thanks, had no idea this was such a well trodden path 👍
  21. Mmm, not sure, I like the idea of a TH Sig, if I deviate too far in terms of spec it's just another mongrel.....
  22. Thanks @PaulThePlug, that's the one I'm using also, great idea to share it here though 👍
