  1. Ah yes, the members, what a great name for a band. Go to a night club "You're not coming in dressed like that son" "But I'm a Member"

I have no idea why anyone would use anyone but Interparcel, you can choose the courier who gives the best rate for the specific item you want delivered and the speed of delivery, and Interparcel Customer Service look after you, unlike other resellers who simply wash their hands of it when things go wrong. Scooby, sorry to hear this happened but those you describe are long-standing and know issues with courier, and are why if using such a service you should never use anything but Paypal to pay for a courier, because the moment you mention that you're getting PayPal involved the courier company tend to backtrack.
  3. Bloody hell, you starting a shop Ped
  4. I love the fact that in the opening line of the first post you give the impression that you found this by pure chance in some obscure backwater of the internet Lovely bass Ped, have to say that my ideal threesome would probably involve the Minogue sisters and not P/J/MM basses, but yours is probably more realistic
  5. I keep looking at my avatar and keep finding myself drawn back to this page.......... Fleas are amazing instruments, the best of all world's in terms of design, engineering and function. But wow there is something so iconic about the blue sparkle, I suspect for me it's the association with the man himself, and more than any of those he played, seems to express the true spirit of the guy (how many players could take to the stage with this bass and get away with it). I saw one of these on sale in Japan, not the world's cheapest place to buy a bass, for close to £5k a while back. I suspect that this colour scheme on this instrument, like an LPB '64 Precision or a CAR '62 Jazz, is going to be the future iconic collector's item
  6. In the meantime, I'm going to start a "How many times should I wind a string around the tuner?" thread just to see how many of us can agree and disagree at the same time
  7. Yep, always give the neck time, most truss rod errors come from either turning the bloody thing the wrong way (seriously) or moving it too far because the early adjustments don't appear to have worked. My gut says that PMT might not be the obvious choice but I'll let others who know better clarify Good luck
  8. Might be worth checking whether the neck has been shimmed? People do funny things with basses
  9. Hey mate, I totally agree, there is possibly an issue with the relief that explains the high saddles, but given the OP hasn't adjusted a truss rod before, and might not recognise the warning signs that us old dogs would (tension, ominous creaking........), I would take down the saddles first, and that will answer the question either way. It's not prescription, it's diagnosis, but whilst it might mean that the diagnosis is negative relief, requiring a specific prescription, it might also be sufficient to make further prescription unnecessary? Might have got a bit medical there
  10. Sound of the Suburbs; stinky poo, can't remember the band
  11. This is also a good reason to start with the saddles All joking aside, if it's a used bass, the OP hasn't adjusted the relief before, if there is a problem with the truss rod this is perhaps not the way or time to find out. Check if the action is OK my moving the saddles, and if not either take the bass to a tech or see if there's a local BCer who knows their stuff who might be able to check it out. I've had two basses arrive - both bought on BC by the way - with dodgy truss rods that only emerged when I changed the strings and needed to change relief. If the rod is in any way dodgy, the OP trying to resolve that might not only make things worse but give the seller reason to say 'no way, you broke it' Or am I just a bit obsessed
  12. Agreed Dan, but should't the process be to start with the obvious issue, saddles, and work from there, as opposed to starting with one that is not obvious. OK saddles might be so high because the rod is too tight, but if it's not visibly the case, that's an assumption?
  13. No, but the O/P does says the saddles are as high as they can go, so I doubt he can even think about checking the relief until he's adjusted those down. And if he does so, he might just find the bass plays to his liking?
  14. OP says saddles are as high as they can go but no mention of relief issues, why would anyone start with truss rod in that situation? Might just be that previous owner, like me, mikes saddles high?
  15. Jeez, given the stuff in most threads being unthreadworthy is bad
  16. A customer service agent at most courier companies could have your box right on front of them on their desk, actually able to see the consignment number, the sender's and recipient's addresses, and all bar codes etc, but if their computer said the box was in Tokyo, they would happily tell you your box is Tokyo. You can't blame the people at either company for this, day in day out the poor sods have to deal with the shite computer system that was probably developed by the same bunch that developed the UK Track & Trace system. I think the days of couriers taking any responsibility ate long gone and I'm now very reluctant to buy or sell anything that requires a courier unless I'm buying from a business who will accept responsibility of something goes wrong.
  17. Hello mate, frankly, whilst it's not technically correct, I would always adjust the saddles first, simply because a) the action responds immediately (which isn't the case with the neck) and it's therefore easily put back and b) there's less chance of something going catastrophically wrong! There's also no such thing as the perfect relief/height combination, so whilst it might not work for others, you might find the combination that works best for you with relatively little experimentation. I like dead straight neck and quite high action, other people pick up my basses and say "how do you play it like this....?" Horses and courses Good luck
  18. On reflection, selling this bass for £400 is a silly idea, it's worth about three times that, I think I'm going to look into selling an organ or two and keeping this Well used liver anyone?
  19. As per the above, sale only thanks, too many basses, not enough cash
  20. And yes, love the busker and the audience
