Folks I need to record an interview with a guy who has really poor internet connectivity, OK for a conversation but not great to record. What I want to do is use podcasting software Zencastr or similar to conduct the session itself, but whilst I want him to speak to me live online and record that via the software at my end, I'd like him at the same time to record his side of the conversation to mp3/wav locally and then send me that file. However, this hasn't seemed to work to date, perhaps because mic access is like camera, you can only allocate the hardware to one app at a time. Two questions, firstly should it work, and secondly if not, is there a way around it? Thanks. Chris

I get it, but in the seller's defence........ There is a Best Offer button S/he might be genuinely selling something that they believe is valuable; a parent's old instrument that has developed the reputation of future heirloom over the years perhaps? It's collection so you get a chance to meet the seller and check out the bass It's nothing like as bad as some examples As you were

He may end up wishing he'd put a reserve price on this.
Beedster replied to pst62's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Ha ha, that serves him right. I bid on a bass a few years back and every time I placed a bid, another few small bids went on until it exceeded mine and then stopped. This carried on for a few hours on an otherwise quiet Sunday afternoon during which I became increasingly confident that I was bidding against the seller. Of course, he put in a pretty big bid with about 3 minutes to go expecting me to go higher but I didn't, just sat there waiting for the inevitable 2nd Chance Offer. Amazingly, that landed about 4 minutes after the auction finished, and was at the price the seller had pushed it up to. He said the 'bidder' had emailed him immediately informing him that 'he had put in a bid by accident and didn't have any money'. So lucky me could have it at the sale price Mr No Money had bid it up to (allegedly). I said I would take it at the value of the bid I had on the bass when Mr No Money started bidding earlier that day, about £200 lower, at which point seller started to get really angry with me and said I shouldn't bid on things if I'm not prepared to buy them, and furthermore that I was morally obliged to buy it at the level of my final bid or what's the point in eBay? Made my evening, and I enjoyed the Sunday roast so much more as the result- 56 replies

I now own four Fender-alike bitsas that collectively cost me less than £1500 to put together over a few years (1xP, 1xP/J FL, 1xJ, 1xJ FL) They are very high quality instruments and I'd rate them all at good Fender MIA standard or above (especially when you consider that they have Warmoth and Musikraft necks). I would like to still have my old 4001c64, I would like to still have my old Modulus Flea, but having sold so many basses, I'm now quite happy with what I have. Moreover, I can't sell any of them really (I'm kinda trying with one) because their value on paper is way way way lower than their value to me as instruments. So, in short, I have no seller's remorse at all. Surprisingly.

So not unlike most politicians? In music I like the human voice as an often extraordinarily expressive and evocative lead instrument as opposed to a conveyor of language or meaning, so Jon’s approach works for me. I think it’s been mentioned previously in this thread or elsewhere, but if you write down the lyrics to most songs you quickly realise that they’re nothing but complete bollocks anyway

I’m gonna buy the CD and give it a go through my tube hifi and ‘big’ speakers, that’s a ritual usually reserved for Nina Simone, Miles Davis, The Band and early Tom Waits (and Tribe Called Quest if the mood takes me). I’m mostly headphones these days So what have I learned? Don’t trust Apple playlists Thanks for your help Micheal
