  1. Absolutely! Considering that this time last week I couldn’t find a track by Yes that I liked the whole way through, finding a whole album - almost - that does the trick is progress for sure! Perpetual Change seemed a weakfish song at first listen, might just be the stand out track now, the changes are pretty special
  2. Now’s possibly the time to get creative with that mono overhead
  3. Slight revision, the whole album except The Clap, WTF is it doing there? Version if album I’m listening to has it twice also. Rest of album is sublime
  4. I’d go with the courier with 95% rather than that with 40% though
  5. No, most couriers have good systems that occasionally go wrong. These guys have stinky poo systems that occasionally go right.
  6. So I've found an album by Yes that I like pretty much the whole way through, appropriately enough The Yes Album. Funny thing is that while I find JA's voice a bit flowery in later albums, there are times on this album when it could almost be Sting (and did I impose my perception onto the music, or are some of the drums and guitars even a little Police-ish.....). There's also hints of early Plant in there as well. It's a bit 60's flower power at times, but that's no bad thing. As per the post above, Yours in no Disgrace and Starship Trooper stand out, I've Seen All The Good People is pretty decent, the almost southern boogie from 3.30ish was certainly not signalled by the rest of the song. One thing about this album is that whilst I prefer the songs and arrangements musically, the bass appears nothing like as prominent a part of the Yes thing; it's high in the mix and very well played of course, it's just not the key instrument it became later. It's been worth the journey, thanks y'all
  7. That's the thing, there's this idea of a quality:quantity ratio that assumes that a poor double album would be a better single album, i.e., keep the 'better' songs. But that's not how albums work, and why listening to compilations is often not as satisfying as listening to original albums. I've often suspected that the classic double album was in many cases a sign that the band had too much equally mediocre material, having originally set out to record a single album. Many exceptions of course
  8. I'd forgotten about this! I think for the time being I'll list it as collection of meet up only as I don't have a hard case for it and the only box I have is also not the strongest. Might be heading to Sussex/Hampshire/Wiltshire next weekend is that's of any interest! I could arrange a hard case at buyers expense and post it if it gets that serious
  9. It is an amazing thing to hear, must have been utterly groundbreaking in the day when you had either a nondescript thump or a middy and often distorted tone that sounded more like guitar. For me, as a newby to them, it's the bass parts AND the bass tone that are captivating
  10. Ha ha, I was hoping for "Because he'd never heard anything like it" but I think you're on the money!
  11. Playing that well with a pick is a whole lot harder than it sounds. Nice work
  12. And Entwhistle bought his because......,
  13. Agreed. So if so organised, why such crude photos, and why a Wal and a harp, there must be easier markets to sell to?
  14. But i still don't get how this 'scam' would work, unless there's a way around PayPal recharging the seller when the buyer reports a non-arrival, which I doubt, having to deal with PayPal when I had a buyer accuse me of not sending the correct item a couple of years back. Or is that what he does, he sells it and then makes out that he's been scammed "the buyer has returned a fake item", but with zero feedback that wouldn't have legs surely? Or does he just close down his bank account and hoof it? The thing is, if you're going to run a scam, there are easier fakes to sell than Wal's and harps; phones, watches, computers, cameras...... This just seems the hard way to do it! Been a long week, I'm probably missing something obvious
  15. What I don’t get is that you’d use PayPal so how does the scammer come out if it intact?
  16. Damn, Inspector Jack wins again
  17. Ha ha, fair points, but if it is a scam, its an odd one
  18. But if it’s a scam, I really don’t get the harp? And he seems to know what he’s talking about musically? And you can’t bid against yourself, it just looks like you can. Perhaps the seller has MPD, genius scammer one minute, rubbish one the next
  19. Mmmmm, fair point, I stand by the harp clause however. If he’s clever enough to distract attention with that, probably not foolish enough to run two scams at once?
