  1. Four guitarists, rehearsals must have been hell Hate those BVs on the chorus as well.
  2. In the context of this thread's origins and direction, this seems relevant......
  3. I think Dodo would be a closer analogy to KW to be honest
  4. I wonder how his early attempts at dating went ‘Hi, I’m Crispy pink torpedo’. I imagine business meetings aren’t much fun either?
  5. We had a rhythm guitarist with a similar approach, although he was so swamped in reverb no-one really noticed. Why was he in the band I hear you ask? He had a van
  6. If only the parents of the Miliband brothers had the sense of humour to have named one of them Glen
  7. I get the impression that if you get a good Ampeg form new it'll often stay good, but if you get a bad one, best not to try to get it fixed, just return it for an exchange or refund, because they have a nasty habit of staying bad.
  8. Three clues for future reference Phil. First the spare ticket which you picked up on. Second "I think you'll like it". Third, The Barbican. I won't even mention the fact that the band was named after a physics thing
  9. I have a good friend who's an academic in internet/fake news and he's adamant that fake news was far more of a problem before the internet, because at least these days the clarification can move quickly. Oddly however, we're still occasionally hearing that Gene Wilder has just died. Go figure?
  10. By which I meant that I could have stayed at home for a far better musical and theatrical experience, as it was was nothing more than a bunch of blokes standing at keyboards; at least Kraftwerk had the decency and creativity to put on a show (although I have to say they were a little robotic). But I guess the thing is, for the TD fans, it was about being there, I didn't get that, but my mates did, for them being with like-minded folks in the same place at the same time sharing the event was the point, not the music or the performance, a bit like church or sport for many. Plenty of folks still go to watch Gillingham play football for much the same reason.
  11. Horses for courses. I once went to see Tangerine Dream 'live', I rest my case
  12. On reflection it was a slightly more combative than necessary exchange of strongly held views Hope all's good in N.C.

  14. But that really wasn’t reaching out for a chat, it was ‘hey, I know better than the rest; why do all these idiots produce bass tone that doesn't meet my high standards?’, then nicely backed up by his post at the top of this page which suggest that musicians should write music to please him or they are ‘a fool’. My rig in fact meets his exacting standards of simplicity and tonal perfection, so I agree with his tastes, just not his insistence that those who don’t agree or confirm are doing so in error or ignorance
  15. Grow up, we were staying our opinion, he stated his. People calling bully is exactly that, bullying.
  16. I don’t think anyone said it’s not a great solution, but the O/P suggested it was the only solution. I love my simple rig, but I also love RHCP. I can’t imagine a Flea without a lot of FX, but he still cuts through the mix?
  17. Well he might have mutilated a little old lady or ran amuck in Kent for example
  18. Could have been worse given other lyrics in the song?
  19. Yep, Werewolves of London makes me smile every time. It’s like a drug you never habituate to. The perfect pop song
