  1. Rics are so not the instrument that so many players appear to think they are, i.e., an anachronistic throwback to a bygone era in terms of tone, playability, build quality and aesthetics (although I recognise that the third can be a problem - although arguably no worse than some other brands - and the fourth is a matter of taste). I always find it amazing how many people who slag them off, whilst basing their entire rhetoric on their experience of five minutes playing a badly set-up instrument through a Carlsbro combo in a shop in 1982, or simply on what they've read on forums. As Nick is finding out, Rics are f*****g awesome basses, that really do fill a gap between some of the more commonly used basses. In fact, I'm really not sure why I don't have one at present
  2. Can’t see he’s going to be much use at gigs if four hours overtime is a regular occurrence Andy?
  3. ‘He will never fit four pedals again because it was such a pain in the a**e’ Brilliant She seems philosophical, at least it’s a contemporary instrument that could be made again, I’m quite surprised how low cost a top GP is to be honest
  4. That’s another candidate who’s not made it through in my book mate
  5. Guys, thanks so much for the above, just looking at a few travel options and I’ll get back to you ASAP. Cheers. C
  6. It's a very good argument! The problem with asking the question you've asked is that you might as well have asked people "What amp do you use?"
  7. Absolutely, but that would be sufficiently weird to ensure that you leave even without the back story
  8. You won't know until you try. Go for it mate. And enjoy it
  9. I used to own the Precision version, lovely basses also
  10. So, I recently advertised my Ampeg PF-50/115 Flip-Top for sale, collection only from Canterbury as I no longer trust couriers following a few rather annoying incidents. As it turns out a lovely gentleman named Jeff (aka ToneFree) from the suburb of Canterbury known as Aberdeen indicated that he had his heart set on it if we could make it work. So here's asking whether anyone can help out with a rather long distance relay. If you can, please drop me or Jeff a PM or post below. If the cab makes if from here to Aberdeen in less than one month courtesy the BC community I'm going to make a £100 donation to Barrie/Molan's charity here
  11. If we all indicate that it wasn’t us at least it narrows the field?
