  1. Should point out that Walshy didn't just sell me the body, he also made the body. A lovely piece craftsmanship on an equally lovely couple of piece of walnut
  2. Courtesy of Walshy for the stunning body, Lindy Fralin for the PUPs, Kiogon for the loom and an unknown manufacturer for the neck, this is on the basis of going back through photos my 19th bitsa build, and one of the best. Lightweight, resonant and articulate. Check out the wood.....
  3. Very kind offer mate, many thanks, but it's a rather long 4/4 so might not make it if you get my drift. Much appreciated however. Chris
  4. Thanks guys, I've guts on G and D, having removed the A and E from that set on the basis of being rather muddy, and having found that these two Jazzicatos sit nicely in their place. I was wondering whether I should get a D and G. But on the basis of the above, possibly not! Thanks for your help folks Chris
  5. Hello mate, yes still have it, drop me a message to confirm you want it and I'll send you payment details. Cheers. Chris
  6. Thanks Pete, hope all's well mate. Yep, know what you mean, but these are definitely nylon strings. I suspect they may be La Bellas actually
  7. No idea where I got these from but took of my gut E and A as they weren't quite as articulate as I'd like for my current gig. Surprised to find that these really sound good on my 4/4. Anyone know what they are, would like to try a D and G Cheers Chris
  8. Living the dream there
  9. These two songs defined post-punk for me, Unguarded moment by The Church and Song From Under the Floorboards by Magazine, lovely fretless Ovation in the latter
  10. Hey folks, with a few gigs coming up after almost two years without any, I've suddenly realised that I'm a bit short on gear, specifically my Full Circle DB PUP seems to have gone walkabout and I sold my Acoustic Image combo. So, I'm left with a big 4/4 bass, a Heil PR-40, a cable and a combo. I've a Fethead preamp that I could use with the PR-40 that will help a little with gain and impedance, but could use something with more options especially in the war against feedback. But looking at what's on offer everything DB-specific seems to be 1/4 jack. Anyone know of a decent preamp for DB with XLR I/Ps? Cheers. Chris
  11. I think it means I should never have sold them
  12. The Band, Old Crow Medicine Show, also like playing Counting Crows and Black Crowes so something of a crow theme
  13. Which is another reason I no longer use ebay
  14. Close to £500, I hope that neck is better than it looks, the problem with those necks however is that they're usually quite a lot worse than they look, as soon as the finish on the board wears through the board itself chews up very quickly, requiring that both the board be trued and refinished even to make it playable. And then you've got whatever the hell happened to the headstock, which appears to have been used as an oar at some stage in its life. And then there's the body........ However, as I imagine it's been bought by a bassist/musician (I can't imagine a dealer or collector being interested), I sincerely wish them all the best, especially as the sale was for charity
  15. That’s about the truth of it
  16. Looks good
  17. Agreed, amazing how many people have said that Excitable Boy has some interesting lyrics !
  18. Or this to really confuse everyone
  19. Indeed, each of them confusing the hell out of the g*******t who will always insist that the first chord in a song is by definition the root
  20. Awful wasn’t it, exact copy albeit devoid of Zevon’s eloquence and humour. Although his hair may be perfect, I doubt I’d care to meet Mr Rock’s tailor
