  1. It is a rather glorious thing, close up it's like an alien life form
  2. I think there was in the 70's a bit of a gap between what you wanted a gig to be and what you might want a live album or film to be. Stuff that I sat through with glee in a field wasn't quite the same in the parents' living room or the local Odeon
  3. Every time I listen to Zep I'm blown away by their creativity and work rate. Extraordinary talents
  4. Have you checked the nut also?
  5. Very much a listing of its era
  6. Oh God, this is a thread that is going to run and run. My problem isn't the ones that haunt me because I didn't buy the item in question, but the sheer volume of those that haunt me because I did
  7. More growl than bark I suspect?
  8. Decided not to list things on eBay given their new T&Cs, but given I could do with moving this on, how about £275, bloody decent price for a very nice interface. You will probably not get a working RME unit cheaper than this anywhere, and if you haven't tried the rather classy RME preamps, converters and drivers, now's your chance
  9. Decided not to list things on eBay given their new T&Cs, but given I could do with moving this on, how about £300, bloody decent price for a pretty much unused unit? If it doesn't sell I suspect it's going to become an expensive karaoke unit for my kids
  10. Homer Simpson indeed. That's exactly the sort of For Sale listing that get all us grown-ups acting like 7-year olds in a sweet shop (or donut shop) Beautiful bass, one of those rare instruments that just works visually. I've a fretless back that would sit wonderfully on that body. Mmmmm
  11. Just downloading this now, wow does it make Pro Tools looks dated. Hope it performs as well as it looks
  12. Adding bits as they come out of the drawers! Badass II in chrome, VGC with the pre-slotted 'Brite-Tone' saddles £80 posted SOLD
  13. P-Retro is sold, sorry. Will reply to PMs when I’m at a desktop! Chris
  14. Indeed, it rather rang out didn't it Jack
  15. The world is full of those people mate, all too often 'Positivity and the need to exclude negative people from one's life' translates as 'Narcissism and the need to exclude anyone who disagrees from one's life". Glad it's resolved
  16. True point, my BB2024 was one of the few P/J's I've owned that really delivered, but whilst the tone with both PUPs mixed was glorious solo'd, I still tended to gravitate towards towards the P-PUP in a band mix. Probably more about the course than the horse however
  17. Good man, I sold all my fretted basses and how have a Jazz FL with rounds and a Precision FL with heavy flats. I seriously don't need anything else to gig and record. There are lines I can’t play well on a fretted instrument that I can play well - perhaps better is more accurate - on a fretless, Rhythm Stick being a good example. Jaco always claimed to practice on a fretted neck and perform on a fretless because the former was slower and harder to play. I completely agree with him
  18. I doubt Fender Precisions cost a whole lot to build these days either
  19. Basschat summarised in a single elegant line of text
  20. I think it's not the fact that the clipping DI sound can't be easily achieved even inadvertently, it's how it's used. He uses it well. Many bassists don't
  21. I love the idea of P/Js, but despite lots of experimentation in practice and rehearsal, in live and recording situations I always end up using the P-PUP only. It's perhaps a function of the music I play and the ideal sound in my head of course, but I find the back J-PUP far more useful when it can be blended with another J-PUP than when blended with a P-PUP. Only exception for me has been on fretless perhaps, when a solo'd back J-PUP can come into its own (all my opinion of course).
