  1. I agree but sometimes it's simply resources, many businesses are up against it at present, there's no slack and it only takes one person to be on leave or ill and emails don't get responded to and things get behind. Anyway, if Mooer are anything like a lot of tech providers, I imagine 95% of emails/calls they receive are likely requesting information that's already available on their website etc, that's been my main lesson with digital audio, specifically that it's nearly always quicker to sort the problem via the various manufacturer/audio/musician forums than via emails/helplines. In fact, if the @edstraker123 asked the question in one of the technical forums here it might be that someone has come across it or similar and can provide a solution, there's a lot of geeks here after all
  2. This is a great thread 👍
  3. I had some issues with Pro Tools a few years back - it was loading or not loading apparently completely at random - which it transpired were the result of some software I'd downloaded that, IIRC, was related to my Adobe apps on the same device (if Adobe was open Pro Tools wouldn't launch, I might be wrong on the specifics but it was something along these lines). I tried calling various helplines and emailing, but eventually just scrawled through the forums on the Pro Tools website and eventually identified and isolated the problem. I learned a lot of other stuff while doing so also!
  4. As I mentioned, earlier, you can bet that as long as they've sold sufficient guitars, that Mooer are also working on a fix for this. There lack of response might simply be the result of the information already being out there, are you checking their website for updates/have you registered with them for emails/notifications etc?
  5. I took almost two years off electric bass to focus on upright until a few months back, when an injury forced me to play electric again. I’m really struggling to get anything close to the speed and fluency I once had, feels like I’ve been playing 4-months and not 40-years 😆
  6. Pirastro Eudoxa are close to £900 a set now, even Gamuts come in at over £500 with Lenzner - which used to be considered a budget brand in guts terms - not far behind in the high £400s
  7. Mmm, I'm not so sure, if the manufacturer indicates that you need a certain app/software to use the instrument, it's not their responsibility if you are unable to run that software on your device, or have accidentally removed it (even via an update). I buy my UAD gear from Anderton's, I can't go back to them when Apple release a new OS so the device no longer works fully, and say I want my money back, I have to monitor the manufacturer's website and keep an eye on their email updates. I imagine this will resolve itself quickly either via Anderton's who are very good or via a new software release so I doubt it's going to cause @edstraker123 many further problems, but it is a lesson in changed times in audio and musicianship
  8. I agree re testing the legalities here, it's a fine line I suspect Re Mooer having access, I agree when planned updates are made, but as I understand it sometimes an unplanned short-notice fix for an OS can also cause problems?
  9. That's a hard truth when it comes to this space, it's simply a sign of the times, and it's been moving this way for many years (hardware as well as software, I have a cable drawer with around 30-different cable types that at one time or another connected audio gear to computers or other audio gear but which are now largely redundant). I never allow any updates on a device until I'm sure that all of the manufactures of the hardware I connect to that device have released relevant drivers or workarounds, in my case that's several units by UAD, Softube, and Soundcraft. It can be a complete PITA
  10. A gentle nudge up the listings for this beauty. I could really use shifting it quite soon, firstly because I've just bought something I shouldn't have, and second as there's the possibility that the good Mrs Beedster might start to notice there's a few more instruments around the place than usual in which case I'm in trouble. So, help save my marriage, buy a SUB 😆
  11. I'm happy to sell separately, if splitting Head £850 Cab £450 I'm not looking for trades thanks 👍
  12. But the list of reasons why one person's experience of gear failing doesn't generalise is huge. If we all bought all of our gear from new, looked after it (no drops, spilled beer, lends to a mate for a gig etc....), didn't modify it, had it routinely checked and maintained by a professional, and stored it in optimal environments, then perhaps there's a case. But many of us buy used gear so have no idea whether any of the above criteria have been breached, and even when bought new we often don't take very good care (at least not as good as we assume we do), adopt routine maintenance etc. So stuff fails, and when it does we tend to draw an ad -hoc hypothesis along the lines "too much power/distortion" etc. The number of amps I've bought used that when taken to a tech - or even when checked over b y me and I'm very far from expert - turn out to have been damaged, modded, poorly repaired, or simply allowed to fall into poor repair, is probably testament to all of the above So when your WEM Dominator (nice unit BTW) went, it could have been the results of so many things other than the volume 👍
  13. No idea, IME it will be weeks ratheer than months but that's my experience with pretty large audio manufacturers (UAD/Softube etc). I'd say that unless they've been pretty lax with their T&Cs (Anderton's and Mooer), I'd be surprised if you have much comeback other than the goodwill angle. As you like the guitar, I hope they sort the software issue 👍
  14. If I had a pound for every time a piece of digital audio studio hardware stopped working or wasn't fully functional as the result of a software issue - usually but not always an OS update - I'd be rich. If Mooer are anything like other tech business in audio, they'll be frantically working on a fix. I hope that's the case, as I can see all sides of the problem here 👍
  15. Hey Tony, all good here thanks mate, hope the same's true with you. OK, everyday's a school day, that's really interesting and something I was not aware of. Thanks for posting 👍
  16. Dressed up for the cold weather 👍
  17. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HEAD SOLD, CAB STILL AVAILABLE ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In 40-years of playing I've failed to learn from two recurring lessons: I don't get on with Jazz Basses no matter how beautiful they look, feel, and play I don't get on with lightweight gear, no matter how much I curse having to lug Mesa Diesel or Powerhouse cabs and assorted large tube amps to gigs and rehearsals Now, there's nothing wrong with either Jazz Basses or lightweight gear of course, and this rig has actually been very useful following a sports injury in August - which made lugging gear, and even standing with a bass, a challenge, and stopped me playing upright completely for a few months - it enabled me to have a decent sounding yet lightweight option. But cut to today and I'm happily lifting Diesel cabs and 300w tube amps again, albeit probably with a little more caution than previously, and I'm moving this rig on accordingly. Both units were bought used but with relatively light use here on Basschat, and both are in very good condition. Gig bag and cover, as well as documents, are included. I've rehearsed it around 20 times and it doesn't even break a sweat keeping up with a pretty powerful drummer and a very very pokey guitarist. As a rig it has all of the plusses of the Walkabout Scout combo but is lighter and more powerful, with less tendency to get woolly at higher volumes. It's also designed to run at 2ohms (albeit via a selector switch on the rear). I've not really explored the EQ, HPF or damping options as it sounded so bloody good set flat, but there's a number of threads here and on Talkbass in which more knowledgable people than me get into the details of these Ideally I'd prefer collection or handover in person (it's light enough for me to jump on a train to London with it, and with a bit of notice I could probably get elsewhere by car). Courier of courser remains an option albeit my least favourite.
  18. ....not saying it is of course, but it was an immediate reaction, colours all seem very vivid for a 60-year old instrument compared to others I've seen? Might just be the photos/light?
  19. I'm no expert but the first thing I felt (not thought, gut feel as opposed to forensic evaluation) when I looked at the pics was that the finish seemed a bit wrong
  20. Living the dream 👍
