I rest my case

Absolutely. Everyone raved about the first wave of Fender Fleas, and a pretty high percentage then sold them. Those dopamine pathways in our heads are telling us we're going to feel so much better when was have the new bass, but they stop saying that the moment we get it, which is when the cognitive dissonance starts kicking in! Strikes me that if fender thought an MM PUP in a Jazz Bass body was a good idea they could have done it a long time ago, without waiting for Flea to suggest it.
-
Does make me laugh, I wonder what Sterling Ball thinks. Flea moves from EBMM to Modulus and gets them to essentially make him a Stingray (well, Cutlass), and them moves to Fender and gets them to essentially make him a Stingray. IME Fender make great basses (all two of them) but often pretty crap active circuits, certainly compared to those that go into Stingrays and Moduli. Interesting to see how this lands.....

FS Fender US/Warmoth Precision Bass (Jazz width neck) **WITHDRAWN**

I bought this bass a few weeks back ....and did so purely for the P-Retro, the bridge and the neck, with the intention of reselling the bass or bit of the bass (there being a sufficient number of Precisions chez Beedster). So, I've replaced the Allparts Precision neck with an even higher quality Warmoth Jazz Neck (with their rather effective string retainer), the bridge with a standard BBOT, and the circuit with a standard Precision loom with a capacitor the size of a small house it would appear (almost didn't fit). Is it a good bass you ask? Hell yes. So why is it so cheap? Because I need to recoup some of the money I spent on it sharpish! If it doesn't sell by the weekend I'll split the parts and sell those. So, a Fender USA quality Precision albeit with a very high quality Jazz width neck, Hipshot tuners, Fender USA '62 PUPs, Fender USA body (very good condition), all for £500. PS the colour is a rather fetching 'Mystic Red' which looks rather dull in the photos, but is very nice.

You and me both mate
-
Thanks folks Greg, yes it's a Lollar indeed, had a sneaky feeling I'd got it wrong., somewhat up the line from a '62 for sure. You did a damn fine job putting this one together mate, it looks, feels and sounds lovely. I've two FL Precisions, and given the other has been with me for years, and given I don't really need two, I'm opting for last in/first out. I know I'll miss it

For sale is a lovely fretless Precision, bought from Greg/Shaggy on this forum, a purveyor of fine basses and a man who has helped me part with a lot of cash over the years! Body is unknown but is Oly White over 3tsb and is a very very authentic looking relic., PUPs I think are Fender USA '62 RIs (I'll check), neck is Fender USA with original tuners. Very solid Precision tone, lovely playable neck with stunning rosewood lined board. IIRC I paid around £500, offers in that region welcome. As is always the case with my basses, you don;t like it, you can return it These are Greg's pictures, I'll upload some more tomorrow Chris EDIT: PUPs are Lollars not Fender

That's it 100%. People get punished by eBay for being bad sellers, but never for being bad buyers. This guy is just that, doesn't stick to the stated terms, tries to push his angle on the deal, gets really arsey and aggressive with sellers if he doesn't get his own way, eventually forcing them to concede or back out of the deal. In the latter case he leaves really negative feedback. He appears to do this for a significant percentage of his deals; if you factor in the feedback I had removed last week, it means that in the last month alone 80% of the feedback he left for others was negative, and it is no doubt way more than shown in his profile as most sellers would have eventually managed to get the feedback removed). He's a bully but eBay support him and no doubt many more.

This is, amazingly, still rumbling on, so I checked the guy's feedback leaving habits. Interesting that a lot of people appear to cancel deals with him, and then he leaves aggressively negative feedback. Bit remiss of eBay not to recognise that there are guys out there who create problems in a significant percentage of deals, but that even given this, eBay still appear to believe and side with the problem people, and against all the evidence they have in heir message system?

Dep Bass Player needed for Beat Herder and Boomtown Festivals

Looks like fun -
Folks I've frankly had it with eBay and PayPal following a lengthy battle to get them to sort out a situation between me and a really quite untrustworthy and unpleasant buyer. I won't go into details, but they're here if you'd like to see more Problem is that this has come at a point in time when I need to offload a lot of music gear to cover the overspend on a recent build at our house. So, a guy who was going to buy one of my guitars through eBay suggested that I re-list the gear on Reverb. I used Reverb once - as a buyer - and it wasn't a great experience to be honest. So, has anyone here used it as a seller, and has anything to say to either encourage or discourage me from selling gear there. I'm especially thinking in terms of getting paid to be honest; it all looks too good to be true, and my worry is that I will face just the same set of problems I've faced with eBay/PayPal, but with a platform that, as far as I can tell, links directly to my bank, which thank God, PayPal didn't! Thoughts, experience, comments most welcome Cheers Chris

I refunded him as soon as I cancelled the deal, but he is, I guess, one of those obsessives who rather than realising that he wasn't going to get a quick £600 profit, decided that he was going to try to bully me into the deal again. He told me "eBay have told me that my next step is to contact the Police and report you for theft". Um, theft of what, I have my bass, you have your money? I think in his head I owed him the £600 quid uplift he thought he as going to make on the bass (funnily enough the guy who eventually bought it from me saw the other listing, and then when he saw mine, initially thought I was a scammer. He in fact very nearly bought it from the idiot, but contacted me just to be sure). I'm not sure I understand any of this any more so I'm guessing no-one else has got a clue!

Sorry, did I mention that this was now resolved? I wish. I finally sold my Ovation 12-string yesterday, the buyer paid immediately by PayPal, and PayPal in turn sent me an email saying that the money would not be in my account until 27th of June as the transaction is considered 'High Risk' by them. So, I called (not easy to get through) and apparently this is on account of the previous eBay buyer having raised a claim with PayPal as well as with eBay. I don't get the logic of his being able to do both, as eBay and PayPal are surely in effect the same organisation when you buy and pay on eBay, and eBay found in my favour anyway. But apparently that complaint, about which I knew nothing, is still live. Nice one eBay/PayPal
