No worries Chris, I'm just irritated with myself for yet again being skint when something I really want turns up!
Ha ha, this forum doesn't help does it Had a few PM's about possible delivery/meet up with this, just a quick reminder that I am willing to send it by courier also, I have a decent wooden crate for the head.
This still here?? I'm frantically thinking of what I could sell. Trades?
Hey mate, I'm really trying to avoid trades at present, I have amassed a rather alarming collection of gear than for both financial and space reasons I;d quite like to reduce! Sorry! C -
What an amazing bass solo ... or maybe not
Personally I really liked the way that he managed to avoid choosing any notes whatsoever that fit in with the song in any way shape or form whilst simultaneously keeping each and every note played completely out of time as well. As if that wasn't enough he then managed to maintain all that whilst playing whole sections where his left hand and right hand weren't even sycronised with each other. Surely it takes some special kind of talent to play soooo many notes and to still not to play a single right one even by mistake! Quite simply... Genius!
Brilliant, reminds me of the classic line "even a broken clock gets the time right twice a day" -
It's a lovely neck that...
Thanks Rob it is indeed
Chris is imo so right about this. When you look at Warmoth neck's they seem very reasonably priced. Then you start to add on the options and suddenly they are expensive. Then you get shipping, import etc paid and jeez it hurts. HOWEVER, the 3 I've had have been absolutely amazing quality and build. And none of those were specified as highly as this one. Thankfully this is fretless, so I'm safe. We all know Chris is a legend to deal with, somebody is going to get an amazing bass with this.
Very kind of you to say so Karl, thanks. You're certainly right about how the costs of the necks build up, but the result feels like a luthier-built neck, so I guess it's worth it.
I really wish this had been posted a few days ago before I made an impromptu purchase elsewhere... Beautiful neck AND body! Glwts!
Thanks, and sorry about the bad timing
Holla, Just wondering if it's got side dots at all? Cheers.
Hello mate, it's got the best of both worlds, the very subtle yet useful lines running down into the board plus side-dots where the blocks are. Note that the side dots are however between the fretlines and not on them. For whatever I reason on unlined necks I prefer them where the fretlines would be, whilst on lined neck I prefer them as per a fretted neck, as is this. Pic below.
Just for info What are your seetings to do a B15 sound with this head ?
Gain moderately low, master moderately high, lows rolled off a little, mids left pretty much as is or pushed up a tiny bit, highs pushed up a little. That's what works with this cab, it would no doubt be different with different cabs. -

Beedster replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I have an offer on the head only but would ideally prefer to sell both at the same time (it's either this rig or my B-15 that's going, in part because I need some space, so I don't want both the SVT-15E and the B-15 sitting around). Therefore please let me know if you're after the cab only and we can work something out I'm sure. -
Top bit of kit...takes many by surprise with the volume and tones...after all how can an amp with silly little 5" speakers make that much noise?? Very well priced too (I think I sold mine for about £400 IIRC) GLWTS
Many thanks mate, yes they are pretty special for the size and work extremely well with all instruments, from mandolin to DB. Looks like the market place may have determined that this is going to stay at mine, which isn't really the end of the world! -
You know what this is and what it does, you don't need me going on about it. It's 100w but they're proper old school watts, not the sort you get from PJB. I've rarely had this further than 4 on gain or 6 on master in pub gigs, and even that can have a uncomfortable effect on bowel function. Sound wise, it can do decent B-15 and decent SVT, unlike the original V4-B it's also got a gain which means that you have far more control over the tone (Motown thump to edgy grit to all-out fuzz). It's all working just fine, and despite carrying a few knocks here and there is in fine fettle, ready to go out and do it's thing for years to come. The bad bits. The gain pot needs replacing, it works with a little teasing but this is what happens when a two year old girl uses your rig as a climbing frame I'm afraid. Also the caps of two of the other controls have come off (I suspect she ate these as we couldn't find them afterwards), they can be had for about $1 from the US. Please see the pics below, both problems sound a lot worse than they are. It also hasn't been serviced for a while, so while it does the job just fine, it being what it is will probably benefit from a good look over in the next year or two All the above means I'll do it for £500 without covers or £550 with. Collection from Canterbury or Colchester preferred, might be able to deliver, and can courier the head in a wooden crate and the cab in a box but it won't be especially cheap. All delivery costs are over and above the cost of the rig. BTW the padded covers are rather chunky and really do protect the boxes (had to buy these to stop the noise machines from breaking any more bits off).
Nice okay thanks, I may well PM you if this isn't gone before funds are raised. For anyone else looking, I can attest to how good warmoth parts are, the neck on this will be as good, if not better than American Fender Quality.
Many thanks, look forward to hearing from you. I do however have to disagree with the above, the neck is quartersawn AAA birds-eye maple, the light oil finish is so light that you can barely tell it's there when you play the neck but you know it's there to protect it, the board is a stunning and thick slice of ebony, and the lines and blocks are so very very well done. This is WAY WAY WAY better than American Fender quality All joking aside, it is at the very least the match for most Fender Custom Shop necks I've played (and there've been a few!) Chris

I won't go on about this bass to much, suffice to say that it is exceptional, cost me a lot to build (neck mainly, which was a custom order from Warmoth and cost pretty much what I'm asking for the whole bass), and that if you're not happy with it, I'll happily take it back and refund you. This is the fretless I was playing routinely until my Wal landed, and I decided to part it out and keep the neck. However, I have a few other things listed which didn't sell so it seems wisest to rebuild and take a hit on this and keep some of the other stuff. I'd always wanted a blocked/lined fretless neck, partly for the aesthetics and partly because the blocks really do help if you're moving around the neck a lot. It's a top-grade neck and I can provide receipts with the bass ($610 plus courier plus import duty). So Warmoth AAA birds-eye maple neck with ebony board, lined with pearl blocks Schaller tuners DI Marzio Super Jazz PUPs Kiogon circuit with push/pull series/paralell Fender vintage RI bridge So, pics. Not super high quality I'm afraid but you get the idea.
I do like the originals, but having played one of these last year, I fell in love, craved one ever since, incredible things, and almost identical, uber cool looks plus all the reliability of a modern piece, stunning, all you'll ever need.
Yep, that's why I bought it Rick. I've owned amps and cabs that made a quantitative difference to tone - PJB to my ear is quantitatively better than Markbass for example - but the B-15 is qualitatively different, it's in a completely different league to anything else I've ever owned or played through (possible exception being other B-15s of course). Nothing I've owned has flattered an instrument the way this does, and that's not just electric basses, DB sounds incredible as well, it seems to add some real magic to the tone, almost like I'm, playing a £100k instrument as opposed to a £1k one! I'm pretty sure that when I next record DB I'll be doing so through this with a mic on the cab as opposed to on the instrument (unless someone buys it of course!). -
I've got one of these original '64 cabs complete with dolly (minus original speaker) in the back of my garage. I've been on the look out for an amp to go with it for about 25 years The guy I got it from threw the amp out as he thought it was too old technology!
Damn, that's a shocker! Let me know if you fancied selling the cab Keith, I quite like the idea of the new and (theoretically) reliable head in one of the old boxes, and '64 is something of a landmark year for me anyway -
I wish I have that problem to deal with, my valve amp is too small to produce that much boom in band situation. My LB30 cuts thru the band onstage when driving abit hard but sounded like lemmy when solo which I don't quite like lol.
But if you don't solo it doesn't matter (you might need more power/control if you do). Lemmy's bass is a great example of what I was on about above, awful solo, good in the mix
