1. OK, last of the studio gear arrived this week in the form of a Roland electronic kit, so I need to let a few instruments and amps go to keep things on an even keel so to speak. These two are the basses I use least, and going forwards are also those that are least likely to be used in the studio also. Both are bitsas but built from high quality parts, in fact if I broke both for parts they'd earn me around £500 more than the total [price for both basses. But frankly, I can't be bothered with the hassle of selling the bits one by one..... First up, maple board fretless P/J. £600 Body: Phil Kubicki late 70's. Lovely worn natural finish. Bridge PUP very much in 70's position Neck: 1971 Fender, classic profile of the era. Very very good condition, no signs of play-wear on the board suggesting either extremely light playing/flats or a refin, but if the latter, it's been very well done. Slight signs of wear on the back and side, but very little in real terms. PUPs: Nordstrand NP4 V Precision/NJ4SV Jazz Circuit: Kiogon VT stacked Tuners: Gotoh FB30 Bridge: generic BBOT Why am I selling this one? I have three fretless Fenders, a P/HB with flats, and a Jazz with rounds (and both with big Precision necks). This is the one I play the least. Simple as that. However, I kid you not, this is a very nice bass and at the price, is a steal (it cost around £850 to put together). [s]Second up, a rather nice '57-ish Precision.[/s] £400 **SOLD** [s]Body: Not sure. bought on here a while back here http://basschat.co.u...1#entry3124531. Colour is Champagne Gold, very hard to photograph but very very fetching in the flesh Neck: 2000 Fender MIA '57 RI replacement. Very very nice neck, wide and flat. Pretty much unused (bought NOS last year from £275) PUPs: Bill Lawrence P-46 Circuit: Generic (might be Fender, might not) Tuners: Fender American Vintage nickel (still wearing plastic protectors) Bridge: generic BBOT Why am I selling this one? It's just a little too bright for me, there's a lot of zing and top, and I don't generally use tone controls. I've two other Precisions, and once again, it's the one I play the least.[/s] Courier will be around £30. No hard cases with these but they will be very well packed. Sale only on both, I don't need any more gear. No offers please, the prices are more than fair. These are priced to sell and will both head to eBay at around £150 more per bass at the weekend if they don't sell here before then. Chris
2. Had the pleasure of seeing and hearing the 2000 in action a few weeks back and it's lovely in both respects to, helped somewhat by Jay's magic fingers! Jay, if you fancy a AER Bass 1 for it , let me know
3. I've wanted one of those from the moment they were announced. Anyone got a couple of grand they can lend me?
4. In his defence however, he has had the instrument referred, which is probably a good thing.
5.
And why has he made such a pig's ear of the dot markers on the neck?
.....perhaps because he was still upset and angry about the complete mess he made of aligning the tuners....?
6. Happy to consider offers/trades.....?
7. All necks now sold, will take offers on the bodies (or bodies/PUPs separately)
8. You may need flip more than strings and nut Rob, although it'll depend which model you buy; the bridge is asymmetrical on some models, the extensions to enable the player to stabilise the instrument - without which they can be quite challenging especially for a beginner - might also be on the wrong side, and you might need to check access to controls also. But once you go to EUB you get to DB and then there's no going back! Good luck Chris
9. I could use this gone really, I've decided I don't need it and I'm trying to re-organise the studio, so it's now sitting in the house getting in the way. Lots of interest but no action so far
10. First impression was of woodworm. There is a school of thought that no two instruments age alike, and that it is possible that a real example looking exactly like this exists. But I doubt it.
11. I think a new board on a neck that already works for you is a risk and an expense too far. I had a fretless ebony board put on a Precision neck a while back and it never sang as well as it had with the old, albeit worn out, fretless rosewood board. I don't think it was a bad job, just that for some reason it changed the response of the instrument in a way I didn't really care for. It could have been the mass, density, depth or even simply the surface of the new board, but either way, I wish I'd left it as it was. Lovely looking neck all the same walbassist
12. Selling as I suspect I'm too much of a plug and play guy to have the patience to ever work well with something as gloriously versatile as this. I also hoped the kids might engage one day but frankly, it's a long way off! Currently on sale at Thomann for £1950 https://www.thomann....aha_s_70_xs.htm the sale price is over 50% down* especially when you factor in the very sturdy gig bag worth around £100 plus two Yamaha pedals. Reviews abound e.g., http://www.musicrada...ha-s70xs-253819 and http://www.keyboardm...eyboards/27587. In terms of functionality and performance, I can't really provide much more than that to be honest, but I'm assuming that if you're reading this you know what you're looking at. Trade wise a nice Precision always appeals, and I've only got the four at present so plenty of room. Acoustic instruments are always of interest (no bagpipes or lutes please). Happy to discuss terms.......... Cheers Chris * DISCLAIMER: I'm not suggesting Thomann are necessarily the cheapest
13. Halfway between marker pen and new board is wood dye; many DB boards are blonde but dyed to look like they're a darker (and more expensive) wood. Go careful!
14. Bump for remaining necks and bodies, courier collecting a load of stuff from my place tomorrow so get in now and they could be yours by Thursday!
15. You know the deal with these! Cost me £125 but think I'll stick with the Nordies I'm using. £50 off new price Cheers Chris
16.
I recognise that blue PJ Jazz body! The pickguard is from Tim at Scratchit!

It's a stunning body built up, really resonant also
And now sold
17.
How much is the Squier P neck, if it's still available? And is it skinny or a baseball bat?
Far from baseball bat John, too thin for me by far, narrow and flat, probably 40mm max but can check. £50?
