1.
MB1. Topic Reopened!
Ha ha, may thanks Martin, not for the first time eh! I've just finished building a new fretless Jazz so this is up for grabs again with either the Weather Report PUPs at £500 or with some Fender USAs at £350 Cheers Chris
 2.
Oh bollox I love the look of it but it has to be <8lbs because of my back, sorry mate . GLWTS
Ah, sorry mate. If it's any consolation I'm working on a newly acquired project 70's Telecaster Bass that weighs close to 12lbs, and I have a mid '70s ash hardtail Strat that weighs close to 10lbs. Both make the Warmoth feel like playing a feather
 3. Apparently it's 8lbs 9oz so 8.57lbs, original estimate pretty much spot on
 4. I'd say about 8.5 lbs and yes Tom, neck straight as a weapon used by a native american and a very nicely adjustable Gotoh bridge Cheers Chris
 5. Karl and I have engaged in a couple of deals recently that have resulted in his getting his hands on a rather lovely La Cab and my being able to put together a phenomenal bitsa Tele. In every respect Karl is an absolute pleasure to deal with and I cannot recommend him highly enough. He's a credit to the forum in every way. Chris
 6.
Hey, Chris Tomas Buchannan Mandolin http://www.folkmando...ts/mandolin.htm Standard model. Unplayed - took it as a swap with Tomas. His current new price is £750+.
Hello mate, long time, hope all's well. Looks lovely but as my current model is a similar shape I'm looking for something a little more Gibson-esque. Many thanks for the offer, no doubt we'll resume trading status again soon C
 7. I'd do Macca, obvious and not obvious at the same time. Over and above his more famous singing and songwriting he's a very inflential bassist.
 8. Call/email John, his customer service is second to none C
 9.
I reckon about one more page until this morphs into a P vs J/ Flats v rounds / maple v rosewood debate!
10. +1 with the addition of a Tech 21 VT Bass. Active bass might also be useful depending on how close to original your band mates want the sound (in response to Jack's post I usually find its them, and not the audience or the bass player, who wants 'authentic' bass tone) C
 11. Just picked up a mid-70s Telecaster Bass in need of a LOT of TLC. Bridge, strings, PUP and neck are horribly misaligned, all made worse by a Kent Armstrong lipstick added in the P-PUP position even further off line. The micro tilt mechanism is broken meaning the neck is held in place by only with two screes, and so it doesn't stay in tune for very long, and the body shows signs of numerous poorly installed bridges and 4-bolt necks over the years. BUT The front PUP (mudbucker) sounds glorious through my V4B. Also, despite being off-line so to speak, the Lipstick soloed has a surprisingly high output and a completely usable tone somewhere between a Jazz and a Precision. Best of all the two PUPs mixed sound like a Precision on steroids, albeit with slightly looser articulation. Furthermore it's in a lovely and naturally roadworn 3tsb. It is a very rock n' roll bass and is going to be shown some love over coming weeks to get it back to where it once was. I'll be keeping y'all posted C
 12. Open to trades but really don't need any more Precisions thanks Seriously though, a decent Strat or mandolin, or recording gear are on my list at present C
 13. Fantastic, Disney should make a film based on that story, with a slight deviation in plot relating to the 'What is that thing below" question (clearly the mark of a bass destined to one day be reunited with its original owner). Lovely looking bass as well C
 14.
They're not a courier company in their own right are they? Or are they?
Well there's the question. If you define a courier as an agent able to reliably and safely move one or more items from one location to another, intended location, no, they're not. If you define a courier company as an agent who states that they can do this, yes I guess they are.
 15.
Through a... ...?
Ah, big colourful pics eh, you're just hogging the limelight now
 16.
Must have been stored next to an Ampig
Or the driver borrowed it to practice his chops...?
 17.
no it's not it's .63 metres. thanks guys I'll give APC a try, looks like I had a lucky escape with Parcel Monkey, perhaps they use Brook Bond chimps to do their deliveries
No, they're certainly not that competent
 18. PS here is the one I'm keeping just so you understand why I'm selling the Warmoth http://basschat.co.uk/topic/260327-fs-stunning-fender-custom-shop-55-precision-limited-edition-2013/page__fromsearch__1 C
 19.
Parcel Monkey will take large heavy cabs, but they might also lose it. They lost my Mesa 1516, a cab the size of a small principality, for 6 weeks and then found it in a van in Ipswich. On delivery, the driver first handed me the empty box and then proceeded to drop the cab whilst trying to get it out of his van. The box was completely trashed, the cab - which became known as Keef on account of its indestuctability - survived the drop and didn't have a mark in it. It was however covered in thick brown dust and smelled of pigs, which knowing the previous owner was not how it had started out its journey. If only cabs could talk, what a story it might be able to tell.

If you use parcel monkey you'll probably save yourself a lot of time, effort and money by just leaving it out on the street with a note saying "Please can someone take this to xxx" I've never yet had a successful delivery from them, everything has either gone missing or been damaged
Ha ha, fairly consistent regarding Parcel Monkey then, I imagine my cab would have arrived faster had I have taken your advice and just left it in the street Bob! They really are a curious mix of cowboys and clowns (clownboys?) and should only be trusted with items that are too big to be lost AND too strong to be broken, such as tanks, cross channel ferries etc. Probably not a great business model
 20. Bought last week from The Brig to replace a bass that I subsequently decided not to sell! It is a very very well put together, beautifully finished and resonant instrument. The neck is, to coin a phrase, to die for; beautiful birdseye maple finished to a lovely balance between a varnish and an oil, immaculate fretwork and playability, and the wonderful sense of stability you get from Warmoth parts. The light swamp ash body is beautifully finished and contoured, the tort pickguard finishes it wonderfully, and the bass balances very well. This is a very very high quality and clean instrument. Warmoth manufacture the finest bass woodwork you'll find this side of a custom build, and the other components (SD QP PUP, Schaller tuners, Gotoh 201 bridge) are all very high quality. As I posted in the original listing, it's a Fender Custom Shop instrument for Fender Modern Player money. In fact it's so well put together and finished I'd almost go so far to call it boutique I'm selling because I've decided to keep my Fender Custom Shop '55, and whilst I'd love to keep this as a back-up the neck is probably too thin for me (it is classic Jazz width and depth), and I've never been very good at looking after immaculate basses! The Brig clearly knows both how to put a bass together and how to look after it once he has! I've used his original pics below, I'm sure he won't mind. Please ask any further questions in the thread below (original listing here might help also http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1) Price £450, bass is currently in Aberystwyth, I can post at buyer's expense or meet up anywhere from Aberystwyth via Shrewsbury, Birmingham, London and Canterbury (my commute is a PITA). Trade offers welcome. 21. Parcel monkey usually do everything - they did Keef - try phoning them?

 23.
So, Chris. Are you wanting me to close this thread?
Ha ha, yes please Sean, thank you ( you know me well )
 24.
sorry to hear that, hope you can work it out!!
I'm not too worried mate, we all go through periods when things are difficult and things can get away from us, and I guess that's what happened with Steve. If however he's back selling gear here after a long lay off (or what appeared to have been one), it's not entirely unreasonable for me to expect a PM at the least saying "sorry I never got back to you, can I send you a set of strings as compensation" or similar. As I say, no big issue, but once bitten, twice shy eh
 25.
As you've probably said yourself at some point Chris - no two basses are the same (even Pino's). I'm glad you found one you really gel with...looks very nice I have to say
Agreed, although the Pino is every bit as good as people say, I just prefer the '55, the neck and board just work so well for my hands, and the tone is subtly different, just a little bit sweeter to my ear than the classic split PUP Precision tone, and works well for country and blues, which is where most of my playing happens
