  1. Interesting that stuff often sells quicker and for a better price on eBay than is the case on BC, and ironically on occasion even to people who are BC members? Frankly I hate selling on eBay, but it's quicker and less hassle than BC; there's no endless PMs from folks who are definitely going to buy and will send PayPal payment later that day but then disappear, no silly/desultory cash offers (or at least they can be rejected automatically), no PX offers for gear that has been sitting in the FS forums for years, and no 'can you hold it for me until my ..... sells. That the final price on eBay is often quite high makes up for the commission, most of the time. More importantly, I'm finding I'm dealing with some really nice folks on eBay these days. And whilst I really hate to say it, I'm also getting a bit disillusioned buying on BC; I've been less than happy with the description and/or condition of about 50% of the stuff I've bought here recently, and whilst eBay gives you easy access to a claims process, BC doesn't. I just feel selling here has got a bit lazy, almost as if it relies on a community feel-good factor that is perhaps being taken for granted and/or abused. I'm seriously considering not using PayPal F&F option any more so that I can simply claim back money without hassle. I've bought three items in the last 10 days, and having got home and unpacked them this evening, two of them are going back, in both cases because the seller forgot to mention something pretty important in the description. Frankly, this really f***ks me off, and contrast with my recent experience on eBay So, IMO, if we want this market place to pick up, sellers have to up their game a bit to be honest, eBay sales show there's plenty of money changing hands for bass gear elsewhere.
  2. I also have the rack-mount kit for this which is virtually unused (was in rack a couple of weeks). I can throw that in for an extra £30, cost about £90, money well spent eh 😏
  3. Needs no introduction, full working order, good condition etc. No longer needed due to recent purchase Price includes insured UK shipping Chris

  5. Absolutely, music is ultimately about emotion, and emotion isn't in just the sound, it's in the feel of the gear, the response, the anticipation, the band and their gear, the audience, everything. Different components are more or less important to different people and elicit different emotional responses accordingly. For me, my own gear on stage, as well as that of bands I watch, is a big part of the emotion of live music. Am I going to try to explain it or justify it. Hell no
  6. Great piece of entertainment and some great performances, but certainly not factual. Perhaps there's a tendency to expect movies to be too much of the latter these days. I remember watching The Last Waltz as a documentary, and then on reading Levon Helm's biography realising that it was probably far from it, so I guess this is nothing new
  7. Damn, wish I hadn't read that, now I want a PF-20T as well Having said that, given the variability between tubes, could the differences in the tests be down to the individual units as much as between models? It's also not unusual for two heads that sound very different through one particular cab to sound far more similar when both played through another or vice versa. OK, I'm simply trying to explain to myself why I don't need a PF-20T folks, so help me out Re the tone generally, whilst I'm no expert, having previously owned a beautiful B-15, and given I've been looking for that same tone in something less expensive, I'd certainly say the PF-50T is closer than any other amp I've owned. It makes me smile from the first note, and the only other amp that did that was the B-15.
  8. I'm not sure that the seller has fully grasped the idea of a relic either?
  9. Totally depends on what 'your sound' is Paddy. There's a fair few myths and rule about cabs and tone. The myths are just that and many of the rules are there to be broken. The used market is full of serious bargains at the moment, and there's a fair chance that you'll get your money back selling any cab you buy but don't like, so i If I were you I'd just keep experimenting.
  10. Anyone know of a decent quality half-rack width (9.5" or thereabouts) power amp, I need one to sit between a Avalon and a vertically stacked 2x10? Cheers Chris
  11. Now that's worth repairing
  12. Head sold, might hang on to one of the cabs, so one cab remaining at £500 ONO
  13. Always wanted to try a FL Thunderbird. Might need to give this serious thought
  14. Think I've made a decision on gear, so happy to sell this as a whole rig or split at £700 ONO for the head and £500 ONO each for the cabs. I can post them and if so will include a heavy duty fight case with the head, which will make shipping costly but safe (assuming the courier doesn't lose it). Not interested in any trades thanks
  15. Ha ha, you're not alone mate, my two (7 & 5) take 'interpretative' about as far as it can go before their dance becomes completely random movements to music
  16. My Ella is 7 and she loves the film as well. I've never seen it the whole way through, but I've probably seen every scene about 20 times, and heard the soundtrack more than 100 times. Frankly, I love it too, some great songs and some great bass parts
  17. Thanks Nik Somewhat miffed to announce that the deal I was hoping for with the Mesa D180 & 1516 has gone away, so I'm not sure if I'm wanting to sell this rig. I might still be tempted if someone were to get in quick.... Cheers Chris
  18. I could do with moving this on. There's not a lot of cash around at present so happy to accept PX offers, could use a decent 1x15 (Ampeg or Mesa preferred), a decent small head (Walkabout would be lovely but something in that space would be good), and I'm always open for basses, quite fancy a 6-string fretless at present

  20. Thanks Nik, yes these are weightly but still 16lbs lighter than the Standard Powerhouse. I can carry the two of these at the same time, which I certainly couldn't do with the Standard 2x10, partly due to weight, but partly due to dimensions (the latter is about 5" deeper).
  21. Ha ha, yes indeed Harry, although perhaps on this occasion caught out by that trait (I shouldn't have been so fickle as to sell my 1516 in the first place). I'm kinda thinking I might just buy the 1516 anyway, with the Buster it would be a very lovely rig......
