1. Still seems active on FB, chase him there perhaps, or start badmouthing on musician forums him and wait for him to come to you?
 2.
Would you be interested in a Mexican Fender Jazz Blacktop as a trade?
Hi Sarah, thanks but Jazzes just ain't my thing! Things I'm looking for in trades would be.....

Small high quality combos above 150w (Markbass, PJB etc)
Decent ply DB
High quality hi-fi speakers
Vintage Precision (with cash from me)
Ric C64 (with cash from me)
...but cash is always preferable
 3.
My weapon of choice. I bought one last year via the Evilbay as a friends just felt "right". Funnily enough it would to take something as good as the Yamaha to prise it from my paws
For an EUB this bass does feel 'right', especially if you also play DB. Part of me wants to keep this and let the Yamaha go, the latter has however a couple of advantages over the Bespoke (which likely explain the extra £1000 on the price tag). Happy to consider trades on this Chris
 4.
There's no stopping Beedster - even on Good Friday!
I've always wanted a two P-PUP Precision and was really taken by that bass when I first saw it, IIRC in a build thread. Rather fortuitous log-on to BC at 8.00 am this morning and it was top of the list. Happy days Hope all's well Nik? Chris
 5. Original thread here http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2326428 A lovely lovely instrument now superseded by my SLB-200. Original plan was to have one EUB in Aber and one in Canterbury, but a move from train commuting to driving means the SLB can travel in the car with me. Whilst it's nice to have two EUBs, the kids appear to be getting through cash like it's going out of fashion at present so the best bet may be to reduce the stress a little by letting this go Collection from Canterbury or Aberystwyth or pretty much anywhere between the two by prior arrangement. This is a LOT of EUB for £750, the only comparable instrument I've owned is the SLB-100 Chris
 6. Thanks Kev, I'd only really used this with DB and EUB until last night when I used it with an electric bass and, bloody hell, it's LOUD, unbelievable given its size. OK, it ain't Ampeg SVT + 8x10 loud, but given it's the size of a gnat's scrotum, it's pretty bloody amazing.
 7.
He gotta be pretty Bad or be having a pretty bad day to muck that up.
+1, even I could do that without messing it up.... Was he a luthier or a bloke who can repair DBs? Theres a big difference, I've come across the latter, and would never take an instrument to one again, no mater how cheap of how quick the repair
 8. Ha ha, thanks Martin, this rig was going to go to a mate's studio but we didn't really get it together, and what with my Yammie 2024x sounding so damn fine through my PJB rig, and given that I'm playing both DB and electric in the same set, and given that whilst not huge for an Ampeg rig, it's still sufficiently large to be on the good lady's list of things that really could be somewhere else other than the house, here really seems to be little point in keeping this, especially as I could use the cash at present. C
 9. I must admit that having initially been in favour of dropping the ban - or at least of seeking a means of doing so with JH - on the basis of a few discussion and this thread I'm pretty much convinced of the logic of keeping it. As has been said, we can buy and sell Rics elsewhere from sites that are far better resourced in terms of cash and legal people on the payroll should things get messy with JH. It's absolutely right that the owners of BC should not risk the sort of crap that could ensue from legal action from Ric, great shame though it is that the threat in question hangs over them.
 10.
I really must stop looking at this bass.... serious serious gas!!!!
Played it in anger last night, even through a very clean amp (PJB M-500) running entirely flat it sounded glorious, so much so that I'm probably going to let my Ampeg rig go (I don't need two big rigs around the place to be honest - the PJB was really only intended for DB, which doesn't sound good through the Ampeg, but the BB sounds awesome through the PJB, so PJB wins!). There is nothing this bass does that doesn't sound incredible, and whilst others/purists might disagree, the simplicity (back PUP = Jazz+, both PUPs = 'ray, front PUP = Precision+) makes this the most versatile yet simple to use bass I've come across. A glorious, glorious instrument on every level.
 11.
What's it like for D tuned stuff ? I tune D G C F.
No idea as I'm not in the same country as the amp at present, but I imagine there'd be little problem, we're only talking about two semitones of frequency response after all?
pm'd
Replied Stuart
 12.
Tru dat. Page after page of tech stuff and GAS-related posts, but not much about actual playing. Are we musicians or consumers? Probably both - and more the latter if anything.
They're bass guitars, there's not much that can be said here about playing them that hasn't already been said here a thousand times. This forum is far more about buying and selling (an ranting in OT) than about musicianship, always has been. Nothing wrong with that, if it didn't have FS and OT it would probably have less than 1000 members, about 100 of them regular posters
 13.
Well the reason would be he claims to be living in Rochdale but the same bass (photo, instrument history and serial number details) is listed elsewhere and is located in Long Island New York http://fenderbass.ne...ss-1959-2/14631 plus he's listed on a scam alert website listing some other item and claims to be in Chesterfield? http://ebayscamhunter.blogspot.co.uk/
eBay wouldn't see that as legit really - he could have bought the bass (a bass I bought in Denmark St was on the shops website two years later), and re a 'confirmed' scammer, although it's probably not an issue in relation to vintage basses, there's so much competition for trade on eBay that it's not uncommon for one seller to try to get a rivals' listings removed to improve their own business. You can understand why eBay are a little fussy over this at times! However, they will probably remove this listing anyway, but don't be surprised if it reappears!
 14.
I've been wanting one of these for ages, and on the rare occasion one comes up - I've just had to pay a hossing great vet bill. B*****ks!
If it's a pony I'll take it in trade? Re the above post, it can be collected from either Canterbury Kent or Aberystwyth Wales. Postage is of course an option
 15. What makes me laugh is that the clowns trying to scam us always use the same daft approach in post 2 above, it's almost like they want us to know they're a scammer. You'd think they'd look at a few legitimate listings and try to emulate those?
 16. Lovely little thing, and whilst a little runt-ish, is ludicrously good at what it does. I bought it to keep in my office for when I fancy some lunchtime EUB action, but somewhat bizarrely in doing overlooked the fact that we have a little used anechoic chamber downstairs where I can practice with something bigger. I'm therefore ideally looking for a PX for something bigger but still portable e.g., Markbass/PJB. The Micromark's not really a giggable amp despite what others have said (OK, it might work in 'reinforcing' a DB or acoustic bass), but it is absolutely perfect for the living room or office. Will quite literally fit in a desk drawer and can be carried in a small rucksack
 17. You'll probably find that same photo elsewhere if you search Google images
 18.
The neck pup on a Jazz sounds pretty much like a P.
It doesn't, if it did everyone would play a Jazz and the Precision would be redundant.
 19. Simple: Precision + flats + groove = Motown funk
 20. Yes please, can you PM me payment details Thanks Chris
 21. Unless I'm missing something, tightening a neck on which you're getting fret buzz might not be the way to go?
 22.
Think Beedsteer is after one of these maybe worth sending him a PM?
Indeed I am, and Steve and I have discussed this beauty on several occasions trust me. It is, to all intents, my dream Ric, Macca model with the unbound neck (and dots not sharkfins), unbound body with very very nice contours, Fireglo finish, but most importantly VT control on the bridge PUP (the lack of which IMO is a MAJOR issue on some other Ric RIs such as the v63, rendering the neck PUP extremely weak in relation to the bridge PUP and severely restricting the combination of tones). If Steve wanted something I was selling or I could find the cash, this baby would have been living with me long ago
 23.
I think I'd better find a group and talk about my problem.
Off Topic might help
 24.
The thing that I can't understand personally is the super expensive boutique P basses. Just buy a Fender/similar and be done. You don't need to spend £3000 on a very simple design which may still not sound like a P should.
I would have agreed in principle, but in practice, only very few Precisions that come out of Corona or even Fullerton are equal to their more expensive counterparts. The obvious counter is "why should they be?". Fender are a mass market brand and their products share many characteristics with mass market consumer products everywhere, a compromise between quality and price (anyone who's ever put together a project Precision for about £150 and found it not hugely different to a £1000 Fender will understand what I'm saying). Whilst I have a strong sentimental tie to Fender Precisions, they are the bass that defined bass, they are on literally thousands of tracks I love, and are played by players I respect, I've always found even the best examples - and I've played and owned a few - a little wanting in plug and play terms. However, a Precision will always be my go to bass, and if I could find a Fender I find as playable and as toneful as my Yamaha - a far more expensive Precision - I'd be all over it like a rash!
