Anybody tired of the bass guitar merry-go-round ?

I should add that if I were to have a bass built to my spec, it would have been exactly the same as the BB2024mx -
Anybody tired of the bass guitar merry-go-round ?

This isn't a bass or gear issue, it's a human nature issue. If we could, the majority of us would be doing it with everything, jobs, cars, women...., it's just that with most of those, certainly as we get older we can't. Thanks to Basschat and eBay, we can do it with basses. -
The Yamaha has one more fret, so distance from the end of the neck would not be a useful comparison to make.
Exactly, and even if not the shape of neck heels varies enough to make 4mm a function of shape as much as length. Distance from bridge or from 12th fret, in both cases assuming same scale length as Fenders
-
Assuming the same scale length I guess it's distance from the bridge that determines tone?

After 8 years of searching....... (Yamaha 2024MX content)
I actually really like the laminate stripes through the headstock. Reminds me of a Rickenbacker in a way, funnily enough. That bass is a beauty and Nige is right, they do really look good in white and I'm not usually too into white basses.
I have to say that it's really growing on me now that I've decided to keep it. Can't quite see the Ric angle - and to be honest it makes my 4001 look positively agricultural by comparison - but it does move it further away from the Fender-alike vibe. -
stunning beedster stunning!

I own and have owned all kinds of high-end, upmarket basses of various types, and these basses really are up their with the very best of them. Think NYC Sadowsky/ USA Lakland/ Aleeva Coppollo / F Bass kind of quality, both in terms of sound and build , and you are getting some idea of the kind of level these instruments are on . They really are one of the best basses that money can buy, and as such are a bit of a bargain even at the full retail price. This is a mint condition example with a known ownership history of being well looked- after and hardly used , and with the added appeal of being the incredibly rare MX version with a maple fingerboard, all at a very reasonable price . As such, this bass will make some new owner very happy rather soon, I expect. One of the best and most appealing basses I have ever seen for sale on Basschat. GLWTS.

I was really sceptical about these until I actually played one. So much nicer than I imagined, a really top quality instrument!

Ooooh if I had the cash! I have the BB1024X, and it is fantastic. Better than the fenders and stingrays to my ears.
And for all those reasons I've decided to keep it. The 'I don't need it' argument is short sighted as I will no doubt need it at some point, and the balance of classic/contemporary styling with classic/contemporary sounds means that it's going to sit comfortably in a number of settings. I feel better already -
....shows a lack of quality control somewhere....
Ha ha, Corona is my guess mate
I'm afraid I don't understand what do you mean by cut and paste. I can't cut and paste neither edit or delete someone else comment. I'm not starting a new thread because I'm not agree with the fee we all have to pay for just posting a new bass, even if we can't sell it. It would be fair if we pay for the tread if the bass is sold or traded through this website. If you disagree feel free to pm me.
What I mean is that you cut out the old pictures and pasted in new pictures. By doing this you're suggesting, deliberately or otherwise, that people have made positive comments about the bass above, which they haven't. Gear here sells on trust as much as on price and reputation, i.e., members trust the collective responses of other members to FS threads. And BTW, re fees, if you list something on eBay and it doesn't sell you still pay fees. Other members here pay the fees, so why should you be different? You're trying to sell a £2k+ bass and won't pay £7 to do so? -
True. But he'd have to send it a long way. Plus it's something that could make the situation a whole lot worse by running the risk of the neck breaking in shipping, plus the humidity change will make the whole twist a lot worse and could potentially crack the finish.
True, but I'd take those risks over the alternative.

Despite some very good advice above, having looked at the photos, if that were my bass and I lived in an area without appropriately skilled luthiers, it would be on its way via a large cardboard box and a plane to someone who knows what they're doing. I've seen a couple of disasters resulting from people trying to 'tweak' their own Fender necks, and Fender necks/rods are far more user friendly than is the case with Rics. This isn't a minor problem, unlike a Fender with a f**ked neck, a Ric with a f**ked neck is a f**ked bass.
I think at times the contestants have shown up the judges for singing ability...
Which continues the long and proud tradition of pop music talent shows, as pointed out by JK on X-Factor a while back
I've got to admit, I still think they are but the tone they are producing is one of the best I've heard.
Took a while for the looks to grow on me also, but tone wise I doubt it can be beaten. The Precision PUP is beautifully smooth when rolled back a little, but can also be monstrously powerful and gritty wide open. The Jazz PUP is so powerful and solid as to put it in a different league to any Jazz I've ever played, it's really hard to believe it's not an active circuit. The combination of the two isn't far off Pre-EB 'rays. It's not only extremely versatile, but it probably does Precision, Jazz and Ray better than most Precisions, Jazzes and Rays do.

Precision and tubey Ampeg is a pretty reliable combination
I plan on placing an order soon for one of these beasts, thanks to Dannybuoy and Sean for giving me serious GAS! Thomann expect new stock mid April, much cheaper than ordering in the UK.
Give me a shout if you're serious, I'm really torn about it but at present I really do need a second EUB more than I need a 2024 no matter how lovely, and according to Mrs Beedster, money for bass gear doesn't grow on trees (unlike money for shoes which apparently does). Check out the listing in the FS forum Chris
one is made in indnonesia and the other japan I think? Why would someone spend an extra £3500 on a Pino CS precision when a normal Squier precision is more or less the same? I've got a japanese BB, didn't actually mean to buy it... but the quality of it makes me realise that Beedster is really really daft to sell his BB2024mx
It's not going anywhere yet Luke! Seriously, I'm waiting to sound out two new gigs before I decide. I'm living between West Wales and Kent at present and for ease of rehearsing need an EUB in both and, if truth be told, an electric bass in neither. However, there's a few things on the horizon that might allow me to justify keeping the 2024. I sincerely hope I can for all the reasons above and elsewhere on this forum.

I have a 2024MX and it is the best Precision I've owned or played by some distance. Feel, playability, build quality and tone are all outstanding. It's very very good at what it does, and is both a quantitative and a qualitative step up from even the best Fender Custom Shop models.

Where are you based?

I would have thought you're more likely to sort a decent PX on Basschat than in a store. I don't recall seeing many Warwicks on my last trip to Denmark St, and shop price and PX offers can make the gap between buying and selling values quite painful.

That really is a design classic isn't it, referencing other basses (Wal, Musicmaster/Mustang), as well as early 70's HiFi and 50s Sci Fi. Great restoration (Bass Doc is, let's face it, The Man), and I bet a great player - the necks are outstanding on these, and anything that's a cross between a Ric and Precision gets my vote for sure. Enjoy it mate C
