  1. Not used them but neither would I without a whole lot more than three reviews
  2. As the owner of four (yes you read that correctly) maple board fretless basses, there is a unique tone to the combination of a maple board and a Precision PUP that once heard is hard to let go of. Before owning one I'd always assumed that it would be a somewhat polite combination compared with, for example an ebony board, but quite the opposite, growly, rich, and articulate, If I didn't already have four etc......
  3. There I was, GAS-free, minding my own business, not a care in the World, and then this…… 🧐
  4. Which probably means it's got better QC than the US models..... That really is a fine looking instrument 👍
  5. If you have a V4B in your studio you don’t need this unless you’re looking for a pretty subtle variation on the same thing albeit a bit louder. Like the V4B this stays clean a lot longer than the PF20/PF50, and while this is rated at 200w against the V4B’s 100, in real terms there’s not a lot in it 👍
  6. Very interesting video, thank you Sean and Tony, it's encouraged me to go ahead, I'll update..........
  7. This is one of those basses, the moment it sells we all kick ourselves 🤔
  8. Thanks guys, @Sean yes I can see the move towards the neck being a move toward a certain (bassier) tone but had also heard a lot of comments about P/PUPs pretty much only working in that rather special place that Leo put the all those years ago - while a lot of basses have PUPs closer to the neck, I don't see many using a Precision PUP in that location hence the question (in short is the P/PUP unsuited to being used in the neck position). @Hellzero that is going to be an interesting read and listen, many thanks for posting 👍
  9. Wonder if a ‘Basses you didn’t regret selling’ thread might be more entertaining 🤔
  10. Neck alone is worth the asking price 👍
  11. I might just buy that domain 😁
  12. I think there's a whole lot more trickery, ranging from clever use of audio/video tech to outright AI-driven deception, in this space than perhaps is obvious as first site. The old 'modern singers can't sing' idea (beneficiaries or victims of pitch correction, you decide....), I get the impression it's increasingly the case with musicians also
  13. Everything about this guy is just dull, his playing, his talking, his business model, his apology, as @risingson comment, he epitomises the soullessness of the whole internet music thing
  14. Best post of the thread 🙏
  15. Guess if the venue stays open longer as the result of this event they keep their jobs longer?
  16. It’s a long way from Kent but I’m almost tempted to travel down following that post @Marvin 🙏
  17. I’m guessing that - with some inevitability -the answer is no 🤔
  18. It is bollocks if you're being made to feel that your being paid is unfair on someone else, but that's a different question to the OP's point The vast majority of people we're talking about here are not pros, and those who are - like professionals in every field at present - need to recognise that the economy is changing. Venues that go under now will not start up again, in a year's time they'll be flats or corner shops. A little bit of give and take, in for example the scenario in the first post, far from being an existential threat to the livelihood of musicians, will help protect the future of live music as a whole
  19. Yep, I started that thread largely to address the same issues that are raised in this thread, they're pretty much parallel conversations
  20. When all you pros are forced to busk in the streets for coins because all the venues have gone under and there are 200 applicants for every seat at the few shows that still have live players, I'll throw some coins in your hat 👍
  21. That's a line I hear too often and it's bollocks, everyone has the right to be paid, or to choose to not be paid, for what they do
  22. That’s because for many of us a band is ultimately a hobby, if it’s a job that’s fine, but that it is a job for some does not mean that the same rules re fees apply across the board. If all the venues go under, where are we gonna play? Musicians need to help venues through what I hope is the tail end of a very bad five years for many of them 👍
  23. That's my point, I doubt many people are getting them but I know people who are expecting them
