1.
Because I'm an idiot I have managed to order 2. Let me know if anyone wants one at cost before I send one back.
Ha ha, that's the real reason they're all sold out
 2.
I have the V4BH 100w head and it is a fabulous sounding amp, and works well with all my basses - 4 or 5 string, active or passive. It's more than loud enough for me when gigging with a band with 2 guitarists playing everything at No 11 - from Led Zep to AC/DC to Kaiser Chiefs and the Arctic Monkeys. I don't know why I never tried one out before but quite frankly, it's the best bit of bass kit I've ever bought. GLWTS
And as the man who sold it you you, I'd agree with all of that Nik, a glorious piece of kit at every level. You're using (IIRC) a 1x15, match this head with a 4x10, or dare I say even an 8x10, and those dudes would have to turn up to 12
 3.
It's a very good bass Chris, with some great features, especially for a Fender in this sort of price bracket. But ultimately, it's a Fender Jazz, so no massive surprises. It's the looks that are different to most jazzes, I guess. The niggles I have are generic for any Fender stack knob and really I knew about them before I bought it, so not unexpected. With the neck being a tad thicker, I would hope that it's not prone to the neck issues AV 62 RI's were prone to. The unexpected QC niggles are really very tiny and easily solved. I guess the most outstanding feature for me is that it's probably the lightest Fender Jazz I've ever owned.
Thanks Karl, TBH I've never found stacked T/V very useful, and think there's a few pretty obvious reasons why Fender (and a lot of folks who at the time owned early Jazzes), switched to VVT. As Dan suggests above, there might have been some voodoo about the original circuits, but I've never found that to be the case with modern versions. It's interesting what you've said about the AV 62's. I wasn't aware there was an issue across the range, but sold one a few years back just following a recording session for which I'd strung it with La Bella flats. It was dead straight for the session, but I left the strings on at tension when I sent the bass. The buyer, a very decent chaps and long standing member here, came beck to me a few days later saying the neck was bent and unplayable, and there's no doubt that was the case (it was eventually repaired). It does beg the question of how on earth a company like Fender could get something so basic so badly wrong, especially on a prestige range (and especially on a bass that was a re-issue of a 50 year old instrument many of which have survived all of that time without that neck issue). Enjoy the bass mate, I'm sure the niggles will fade with time.
 4. You don't sound quite as impressed as I was expecting Karl?
 5. Nice one, bet it's seen a few good gigs. Welcome Gary
 6.
You're on it mate, are you getting warmed up for a purchase?
Ha ha, well Dan there's a few things mitigating against that. Firstly it's a Jazz Bass, never been my favourite. Second I haven't got any money. Third hey appear to have sold out everywhere even Thomann. Fourth I've already got a Flea signature bass. But yes, I'd bloody love one Very odd that they are available to Europe before the US, with virtually no prior advertising and/or marketing, and in such apparently small numbers? You know Fender well, any thoughts?
 7.
I wonder Chris, with TB being a lot more American, if it's perhaps not such a big deal over there? Fenders are obviously cheaper there and there are a lot more available there than here. Custom colours, stack knobs rarely available here and when they are they are often pricey? Or perhaps they aren't available there as you say
Post in this TB thread https://www.talkbass.com/threads/leaked-fender-flea-jazz-bass-replica.1230133/page-2 suggests Europe only at present?
 8.
This is often caused by an old or duff string, on expensive as on more modest instruments. A string change may have fixed the issue, perhaps..?
Yep, that's the most likely cause if it's an otherwise decent guitar. Same is true of bass but it tends to be less noticeable
 9.
feels like a c
Looks like a C, feels like a C, must be a .......? I get the feeling this bass is going to be one of those that we all wished we'd bought when we had the chance
 10. Makes little odds as '78 and '80 are the same era build wise. Fender have mixed and matched throughout their history so on a bass with a '78 neck you could quite easily have '76 body and an '80 circuit/PUPs. If your bass is '80 and not '78, it really doesn't change much to anyone who knows the instruments and the era. C
 11.
Hi everybody Recently I acquired a acoustic fretless (thanks Chris). Now the bass has a daddario Chrome's string set. It sounds good, but I don't know if nylon tapewound strings could sound more audible unplugged, without loose the deep. Please, give me your opinion and your experience. Thanks
Hey mate, theChromes are good, but I'd probably be using TI Jazz flats on that bass had I kept it. It has a big sound compared to many, so youmay get away with tapes also. Enjoy it
 12. Is it odd that compared to BC Talkbass is relatively quiet on these? Are they not available in the US yet?
 13.
Looks a U shape to me?
Looks like a C to me
 14.
I believed you until you said.... Now I reckon you might buckle
Kinda hoping everyone's gonna say 'crap, sending it back in Monday' but also suspect, given Fender's recent track record, it may be a real gem. Really hope it's the latter
 15. Anyone going to tell us how it plays and sounds?
 16.
Something keeps me looking at them, I'm intrigued. Yet I have a lovely Jazz I prefer, no money, and I'm not even into relics. So I blame this thread, entirely. And perhaps that this would be cool to own with my Modululs. However I'm managing the GAS and keeping the credit card and Jazz Bass safe, whilst saluting those that got in
With you there Dan
 17.
Only 1 left at guitar guitar now, there were 3 this morning and 4 last night. I've never seen a bass sell this quick, it has to be this thread, right?
I think a few folks suspect this batch will sell out immediately and that seeing this, Fender might either cut corners on the next batch, up the price significantly, or even discontinue it. It's Fender after all
 18. Everyone else appears to be buying the new Fender Flea Sig
 19. Funny thing about real wear is it often defies logic, my old '65 was worn in places it shouldn't have been whilst the finish was intact in places that should have been worn. I guess if a bass has been used by one player for 30 odd years (and in the days before Basschat it did happen), the idiosyncrasies of the player could be seen in the finish: how they played it, where they kept it, even how they carried it. Martin Simms makes relics with a story (studio bass, gigging bass etc) along these very lines. Re the bass in this thread, I think it's a bloody good job. far better than the Fender Roadworn series and most of the Custom Shop models (if you want to see poor relic work check out the Jaco relic, and that retails at over £4k). A few honest knocks from gigging will help with the bits that are still perhaps a little shiny
 20. Wonderful on every level
 21. Ha ha, this thread will still be going when the dinosaurs have returned
 22.
ordered online, so can easily be sent back. If it's anything like my Steve Harris West Ham bass (apart from the weight) it'll be very nice
Fair point
 23. Bloody hell, I've yet to see a review let alone see one in the flesh. I do hope they're good or there's gonna be a lot of 'em popping up in the FS forum in the very near future
 24.
Thanks for the kind words, mate. Yep, my requirements have changed some what and it would seem that somewhere to put the baby is more important than somewhere to put the bass. I know, the world's gone mad I fondly remember buying this from you and walking home with it through Canterbury town centre, stopping at The Bell en route for some much need sustenance.
World gone mad indeed. You could get a bit Chadwick on it, put a door in the back and keep the baby in there? And given the state of the punters at our last gig in The Bell, I think you should consider yourself pretty lucky to have still been in possession of an intact instrument following that pint mate
