1. As promised, a TB link (and a few familiar names) http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/delta-bass-300-2x8-combo-info-needed-558027/ Chris
  2. I know that these things are a little bit of an unknown quantity, but they are very good and with the extension this is going to be a pretty powerful and versatile rig, especially for the money in question. I recently sold mine for the rather daft reason (and an equally daft price), in that I wanted a Mesa Walkabout (again) and couldn't really justify having two bass combos around the place, even if the Delta is also very good for DB and acoustic instruments as well as their electric cousins (link and positive comments from ex-owners here http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1). I think there's some threads on TB about these, one of which includes input from the designer about what they were trying to achieve in producing them. I'll link if I can find the time to search it out Chris
  3. Not just after loud gigs, but after a few hours in the studio, even at relatively low volume, my sense of pitch can go. I'll listen back later to what I played on fretless or DB - and which sounded OK at the time - to find I was really sharp.
Mmm, given the widely accepted shortage of drummers nationwide I wonder why he needs to advertise for musicians.......?
  5. Great story Bob, glad you like the Buster. For me it was too big for a combo and too small for a rig if you know what I mean. I've now gone back down to a Walkabout - which for the balance of size, weight and tone is THE ideal bass combo as far as I'm concerned - and back up to an SVT amp with a soon to be revealed cab! I doubt there's a better bass combo on the market that the Buster though. Cheers C
  6.
Trainspotters guide to Danny's gear: Yes, it was an AER Bass Cube. His twin pickup system consists of a Highlander Piezo ribbon mounted directly into the bridge, about a centimeter or so below the strings. (Interestingly, its a Guitar pickup...) And the wing pickup is a Shadow but I don't know the actual model. Steve Rabe, founder of SWR and Ravenlabs, made a dual channel preamp for Danny in the 1980's. Danny calls it "The Ravenlabs Red Box", Ravenlabs call it the much more boring PMB. With this, he was able to eq both pickups individually, blend them to his liking and send the signal to front of house. He doesn't use it anymore so, presumably, the AER has the same facility. I managed to buy one several years back (discontinued now) and its a stunning preamp. Steve Rabe is now retired and refuses to make any more, he will repair them though, so all is not lost.
Crikey, just checked out the AER Basscube, they're not cheap are they
Thats a rig I would like to hear, in fact I may have done if you ever played it out doors in Britain at any point.
Fair point
Hello Keith, Yeah nice cab isn't it? I am looking to add another one to it - preferably the S10-XD, if you ever hear of anything let me know although there doesnt seem to be a lot of it about or not that I can find anyway. Hope you are keeping well.
There's a couple of UK dealers who stock Bag End now, and that's a couple more than there were a few years back, so it's relatively easy to get hold of now

Yep, used to play a Mesa M-Pulse head through two Bag End SD-15s, lovely lovely rig. Very odd colour though. C
  11. One of the great bass lines, and in a song in which it wouldn't be expected. There's a previous thread about it on here somewhere in which the OP described it as being like a Peter, Paul and Mary session with Peter Hook on bass. Not far off!
  12. Like buses these things, I'd never seen another one except mine, which coincidentally I sold last week! This is one VERY good combo and, especially with the extension cab, an equally good price.
  13.
Yep. In my wildest dreams of musical fame and fortune, JJ Cale would be what I'd wish for - a lifetime of playing music just how I wanted, the respect of my peers and none of that celebrity nonsense.
Well put
  14. Damn, one of the real greats, and unlike so many, the genuine article
  15.
Fat doobiage cant hurt....
Ha ha, neither will playing with a fat thumb, which tends to be my habit for reggae
  16.
Hey cheers Chris but I'm only asking what it's cost me, the neck is as far as I know, genuine 70s. It's got a Fender sticker on the heel and some other marks, but no numbers that I can remember. I got a deal on it so I'll pass it on, spirit of BC and all that. If I were into making some brass I'd sell it another way. However thanks for mentioning it, and yes, I'd never make a good business man!!
Good man, someone will get a real bargain here Jim, as certainly appears to be the case with the other two basses you're selling. I would have been on my way to your house right now had I not recently re-acquired an old fretless friend so to speak
  17. Hey mate, if the neck is an original late 70's Fender you've underpriced this bass hugely, I've seen those necks alone go for £300ish, and the tuners for close to £100. You might be better of parting the bass, the body etc might be easier to sell to someone wanting to build a fretted Precision anyway? Chris
  18. All joking aside I've just got back into Solid Air by John Martyn and some of the DB playing on that is phenomenal, would love to catch him live sometime. C

  20.
For the gear-stalkers among us (OK me), he appeared to be going direct into PA using an Underwood pickup (I think, it had two wings) and presumably a preamp I couldn't see. Victoria was strung with his signature strings from A to G but I noticed he had a Spiro Mittel 'E' (red silks at each end).
You need to get out more Clarky (or stay in more)
  21.
Pm'd (just in case it turns out to be no use to bonzodog)...
Thanks Tony, I'll reply once bonzodog's replied Cheers C
  22.
Hi Beedster Can you let me know internal dimensions. I am looking for hard cases for my Epi T'bird and also my Epi EB3. I doubt my T'bird will fit in but may be able to get my EB3 in there. Cheers
Hello mate, it's 121cm x 35cm, 17cm width at headstock Cheers C
