1. A bit rough around the edges but good functional condition and nice retro leather(ish) trim. Fits Jazz, Precision and most others (haven't checked with 4001/4003s). Daughter number 1 is seen demonstrating the storage facility £30
2. Very good condition hard case for acoustic bass guitar. Will take large body acoustic 6 strings also. £40 posted Internal dimensions Length 127cms Depth 15cms Length (body) 59cms Width (lower bout) 47cms Width (waist) 36cms Width (upper bout) 38cms Width (headstock) 19cms
3. Hi all, my Ampeg SVP appears a little temperamental at present and I'm guessing now might be a god time to get the power amp serviced also, anyone know a decent tech in Aber/Mid Wales? Chris
4.
Oh my... I wish I didn't have to pay to move house right now
Ha ha, well as you're moving, check behind/under the sofa for any old basses, guitars, hifi and give me a shout if so
5. At £1100 that is a stunning instrument at a stunning price. I've hummed and hahed about buying it for several weeks, and had a pretty lengthy correspondence about it with Matt, but eventually decided to opt for one of my previous Precision FLs (there's been a couple let's face it). The combination above - ebony board, P/J & Badass, exactly the same as mine in fact - is a recipe for one of the most powerful and versatile passive instruments you can get. In short it's a Tony Franklin FL signature model with real vintage mojo. If I could have bought it and my oldie I would have done, but even I don't need two almost identical basses Should add that Matt's a really great guy to deal with as well. Chris

7. Ha ha, as soon as I saw the title I knew the content! Drummers, says it all
8.
Did you find out the weight ?
Hello mate, not been back to Aber and given upcoming arrival (family not gear) won't be able to for a week or so, sorry. To restate, it's not a light'un bit it's not a heavy'un either. It's one of those bases you put round your neck and you don't realLy think about the weight if you know what I mean. I'll drop the two previous owners a PM later to see whether either of them weighed it. Cheers C
9.
P.s. I may have misunderstood your earlier post Chris but are congratulations in order?!
Ha ha, I meant the little one had not arrived whilst I had arrived very lats the previous night in Swansea (what a great place by the way, coastline like the Italian Riviera). At least we know now that one way or another she'll be with us early to mid next week. Hope all's well Ben C
10.
....feeling like I've been caught in this little beasties traction beam..Bristol is about an hour from here.
Ha ha, I can check out postage options as well John?
11. This needs to go to make room for a fretless. Hand on heart, this beats the crap out of a lot of Fenders (not just MIM, but MIJ and MIA) I've played, and just to restate, has without doubt the best Jazz neck I've ever played (and it's pretty amazing to look at also). Happy to courier this by the way Chris
12. Thanks for the above guys, seems to be a popular little fellow (Greg, I'm sitting in a hotel in Swansea as I type, apologies for not contacting you as promised, but baby 2 still hasn't arrived so everything's been a bit of a rush, arriving at around midnight last night). John, in answer to your question, yes, it's very good for acoustic instruments, and I believe that the speakers are 4ohm (I hope Greg will confirm as he replaced the original as mentioned above), so yes, it does produce 300w. Long way yes, but when you live in West Wales everywhere's a long way. I'd happily courier it. We could also meet around Bristol if needs be, I'm hoping to pop down that way to look at a fretless soon. Chris
13. Going back through its past, I think it was yours patch006, and yes, it was once a very expensive piece of kit, apparently retailing at over £1000 in the late 80's/early 90's. It's a pretty powerful, well voiced and versatile unit, and at £200 an absolute 100% bargain - I'd list it at £400 to be honest but I think Greg paid circa £200 for it so that seems a fair price. I'd say with some confidence that this is up there with a lot of far more expensive equipment from far better known brands. I'm tempted to keep it for guitar/mandolin but now have a nice acoustic DI so I can play my guitar through the Walkabout. C
14. Lovely little thing that weighs a bloody ton. Picked up in a trade with Greg (Shaggy), but with the recent acquisition of a Mesa Walkabout for EB and DB, this is now surplus to requirement. It's a pretty ugly but very high spec twin channel combo with removable 19" rack mount head. Some discussion here http://www.talkbass....needed-558027/. I've used it with electric bass, mandolin, guitar and DB, and it works well with all (helped no end by the 2x8 drivers and acoustic channel on the latter instruments). I've some pics somewhere but can't find them at present. Will post ASAP. I did however find this set on flickr I suspect that it might in fact be the actual amp I'm selling (I think this flickr account is a BC member so I sincerely hope the member in question doesn't mind me using them?). Also comes with a Rocksolid cover. Collection/meet-up fine, courier is an option but it'll be around £30 as it is not light! Chris
15. Nice one Michael, I love vertically stacked cabs (my old Ampeg with two 2x10s sounded great on stage). Interested to know, if there's only one driver per cab, if it make any difference whether they're vertically or horizontally stacked? C
16. Bump for this rather lovely bass. If you're a Jazz Bass fan - which I really have to admit that no matter how hard I try, I'm really not - you will thank me for selling this bass to you. I kid you not
17. Think I'm about to close a deal on a lovely fretless Precision so I'll consider cash offers on this. It's an extremely useful piece of kit, especially if you need to record multi track on the move. As you can see from the pics, I had the Project Mix, laptop, power supplies, mics and all mic/instrument cables all in the one bag. Chris
18.
Can't possibly do that. I use the Ibanez in my Police tribute
You did say it was under the bed so I assumed also unused
19.
Some of this debate reminds me of discussions I had many years ago with people in the country music community about the soi-disant New Country format. Oh, spawn of the devil, it was. Not real country at all. Your station should be playing more Gene Autry / Bob Wills / Carter Family. You're letting the side down. Even sent death threats and - on one occasion - a turd in a box, just because we didn't play the 'right' artists. Well, that was all bollocks, because the limited toehold country had on the market was proof positive that normal punters weren't ready for the hard stuff. You had to coax them in with something a bit pappy and - once they'd overcome their natural distaste for the entire genre - they'd fan out to discover all the other artists and songs. And it worked, because after a year or so we started getting requests for Lefty Frizzell or George Jones or (God forbid) Lloyd Morgan from 18 year-olds. Thing was, the hard-core country fans didn't like what we were doing because it didn't gel with their idea of what the genre should be about. Bands such as The Mumfords may not fit their genre template, but they're a damn good way of growing the market for the music. Trouble is, existing fans don't always make the connection, see the benefit and take advantage of the opportunity to ship in some new blood. 'If you like that, you might like this' would be the way forward to my mind. Were I a folkie, I'd be sending the Mumfords a thank-you note and a box of delicious gingerbread. .
Went to a outdoor/daytime gig in Canterbury last year, the usual daytime mix of rock, folk, world (plus singer songwriter who's clearly a mate of the promotor) etc. There were a bunch of very cool looking 16-18 year olds hanging out, and I would have put a few quid on them being what we termed back in the day 'an indie band'. Anyway, they stepped up to play, I was expecting a Ric or two, possibly a Tele but, to my surprise, this bunch of apparently too cool for school kids picked up a banjo, a mandolin, an acoustic guitar and - IIRC - an accordion and a cajon, and proceded to thump out a collection of great up-tempo folk songs - including many by Mumford & Sons - to much appreciation from the entire audience. They completely stole the show. Despite all the talk of 'the new folk' etc I didn't expect to see kids both so proficient at and so motivated to play what were until very recently considered pretty nerdy acoustic instruments. Whilst I doubt Messrs Mumford and Sons can take all the credit, the fact that the majority of the set was theirs suggests that the Mumfs were at least a strong influence. Skank's post above is spot on, it's never a bad thing to have a few 'genre-crossing' bands around to stir things up and open a few doors. I guess it's Fusion Folk (or Folk Fusion), and it'll become it's own genre in time.
20. Just an idea, why don't you put this under the bed and sell the Ibanez
21. Happy to post this at buyer's expense. Weight wise it's neither noticeably light or noticeably heavy, so I guess medium weight. I'll get an accurate weight when I'm back home C
22. Forgot to mention that I can also install a Badass for an extra £50
