    Ha ha, thanks Martin, this rig was going to go to a mate's studio but we didn't really get it together, and what with my Yammie 2024x sounding so damn fine through my PJB rig, and given that I'm playing both DB and electric in the same set, and given that whilst not huge for an Ampeg rig, it's still sufficiently large to be on the good lady's list of things that really could be somewhere else other than the house, here really seems to be little point in keeping this, especially as I could use the cash at present. C

    I must admit that having initially been in favour of dropping the ban - or at least of seeking a means of doing so with JH - on the basis of a few discussion and this thread I'm pretty much convinced of the logic of keeping it. As has been said, we can buy and sell Rics elsewhere from sites that are far better resourced in terms of cash and legal people on the payroll should things get messy with JH. It's absolutely right that the owners of BC should not risk the sort of crap that could ensue from legal action from Ric, great shame though it is that the threat in question hangs over them.

[/quote] Played it in anger last night, even through a very clean amp (PJB M-500) running entirely flat it sounded glorious, so much so that I'm probably going to let my Ampeg rig go (I don't need two big rigs around the place to be honest - the PJB was really only intended for DB, which doesn't sound good through the Ampeg, but the BB sounds awesome through the PJB, so PJB wins!). There is nothing this bass does that doesn't sound incredible,and whilst others/purists might disagree, the simplicity (back PUP = Jazz+, both PUPs = 'ray, front PUP = Precision+) makes this the most versatile yet simple to use bass I've come across. A glorious, glorious instrument on every level.

Nothing wrong with that, if it didn't have FS and OT it would probably have less than 1000 members, about 100 of them regular posters

You can understand why eBay are a little fussy over this at times! However, they will probably remove this listing anyway, but don't be surprised if it reappears!

    What makes me laugh is that the clowns trying to scam us always use the same daft approach in post 2 above, it's almost like they want us to know they're a scammer. You'd think they'd look at a few legitimate listings and try to emulate those?

    Lovely little thing, and whilst a little runt-ish, is ludicrously good at what it does. I bought it to keep in my office for when I fancy some lunchtime EUB action, but somewhat bizarrely in doing overlooked the fact that we have a little used anechoic chamber downstairs where I can practice with something bigger. I'm therefore ideally looking for a PX for something bigger but still portable e.g., Markbass/PJB. The Micromark's not really a giggable amp despite what others have said (OK, it might work in 'reinforcing' a DB or acoustic bass), but it is absolutely perfect for the living room or office. It is, to all intents, my dream Ric, Macca model with the unbound neck (and dots not sharkfins), unbound body with very very nice contours, Fireglo finish, but most importantly VT control on the bridge PUP (the lack of which IMO is a MAJOR issue on some other Ric RIs such as the v63, rendering the neck PUP extremely weak in relation to the bridge PUP and severely restricting the combination of tones). If Steve wanted something I was selling or I could find the cash, this baby would have been living with me long ago

[/quote] I would have agreed in principle, but in practice, only very few Precisions that come out of Corona or even Fullerton are equal to their more expensive counterparts. The obvious counter is "why should they be?". Fender are a mass market brand and their products share many characteristics with mass market consumer products everywhere, a compromise between quality and price (anyone who's ever put together a project Precision for about £150 and found it not hugely different to a £1000 Fender will understand what I'm saying). Whilst I have a strong sentimental tie to Fender Precisions, they are the bass that defined bass, they are on literally thousands of tracks I love, and are played by players I respect, I've always found even the best examples - and I've played and owned a few - a little wanting in plug and play terms. However, a Precision will always be my go to bass, and if I could find a Fender I find as playable and as toneful as my Yamaha - a far more expensive Precision - I'd be all over it like a rash!

    This isn't a bass or gear issue, it's a human nature issue. If we could, the majority of us would be doing it with everything, jobs, cars, women...., it's just that with most of those, certainly as we get older we can't. Thanks to Basschat and eBay, we can do it with basses.

Distance from bridge or from 12th fret, in both cases assuming same scale length as Fenders

Can't quite see the Ric angle - and to be honest it makes my 4001 look positively agricultural by comparison - but it does move it further away from the Fender-alike vibe.
