....and which shows what a minefield this space can be, having experienced some very descriptions of vintage instruments when I was buying my '64 - all documented elsewhere on this site - it does make me wonder how many people out there have paid a lot of money for a now cherished vintage Fender that is simply not a vintage Fender, often because the (reputable) shop took the easy route and were less than rigorous in inspection and verification. In this case looks like bass Direct haven't taken the easy route.

That's a good point π

We've all been there mate, there have been times when I foolishly stop checking in for a few days to find that my entire wish list of gear has been listed and sold! Yes, the brown ash body is really a work of art, classic Warmoth. There are still some pretty special necks and bodies available though..........
-
Still a bloody lovely looking instrument however π
-
There are few basses as good as a good Ric π
-
...and a few discrepancies between the post on BC and BD's description - the originality of the body, the fingerboard material - guessing BD clarified some of the details hence lower price
-
Looks like it albeit a whole lot cheaper at BD? The description at BD does no-one any favours

Not convinced I like the music, but I love it that this thread exists π

FS: Ashdown Drophead 200 fliptop combo - *WITHDRAWN*

@Linus27 I've not played this combination before, but it works really rather well. It's hard to say whether it's the board, the neck, the action, or just the way it's working as a mechanical system but the first thing I noticed was that compared to the maple boarded neck on the same body, it brings a really quite beguiling compression to the note (I'm playing unplugged BTW), and I'm quite enjoying it π

Rehearsed it again last night, set of La Bella Deep Talkers, action raised a little and PUP lowered and it was glorious (although PUP is slightly noisy I guess that goes with the SC territory). An advantage of the madly long neck is that I found I can use the very end of it as a thumb rest, and in doing so can play right over the PUP which is my preferred style, so that problem might be solved π
