1. Thanks for PMs guys, but the only trade in which I'd be interested is a Mesa Walkabout combo. Cheers Chris
 2.
£500??? this has really come at a bad time, a few months ago I'd have sprung the cash from somewhere and be driving down to pick this up. Impossible for me to do now tho'
It's such a good deal I'm almost tempted to buy it myself
 3. Bump for s serious bargain. I'm travelling to the Portsmouth-Southampton area in a couple of weeks so would be happy to drop this off/meet somewhere in that region, and am also happy to deliver/meet in the M25 area anytime if you're happy to bung me petrol money (keep in mind I drive a Maserati and keep it in 2nd at all times ). C EDIT looks like a trip to Cambridge is also in the offing soon, so could arrange something in that direction as well?
 4.
Tip,, get the walkabout 15". The 12 just isnt in the same ballpark.
I've not tried the 15" to be honest but I know a few guys actually prefer the 12", although I can't remember why (perhaps because 12" is this year's black?). I certainly prefer the idea of the 15" but will try before I buy for sure. Thanks for the advice.
Come on people this cab is amazing and a steal at this price!!
Cheers Gary, it is indeed, how's yours coming along?
I'm really tempted - can these switch between 4/8ohms?
Not that I'm aware and I doubt it.
 5. Another option is the Bass 400+ and the Powerhouse cab in trade for a Walkabout Scout with some cash my way? C
 6. Couple of (hopefully) legal pics to provide a 'feel' as requested, more pics can be supplied by email Cheers Chris
 7.
I've had a long think about this bass - especially given the move and the fact that the late-era Beatles band for which it was being used will very soon be a distant memory - and whilst I really think it's worth every penny of the £750 total it cost me to put it together, I'm going to offer it at £450. This is partly because my 4003FL is still my go-to bass, partly because I need to offload a lot of gear and rationalise my equipment needs ASAP (and I can't sell this on eBay), but mostly because having taken a stroll through the FS forums over the last couple of days, there are some real bargains on here (one of which i might have inadvertently bought ) and I think this bass probably needs to be an unequivocal bargain to sell, or at least to sell quickly. So, £450 it is. A local BCer has first dibs but I strongly suspect he spent all his cash yesterday, so assume it's a free agent. If I were staying in the band and didn't already have one lovely Ric this wouldn't be going, but I'm not and I do so it is. If you've never tried a Ric and have always fancied giving it a go, you will never find a cheaper opportunity. Chris
I've also had a couple of people ask if i'll split it (esp the circuit, PUP and bridge), but that seems a real shame as it's a lovely player's bass. Having said that, if it doesn't go sharpish I might (and I'd probably raise more than £450 as well!)
 8.
Great price this, Acoustic Image are top quality amps.
Cheers mate, yes it is, if I wasn't moving and trying to get all my amp needs in one unit (a Walkabout Scout for both EB and DB) this wouldn't be going anywhere. I'll have to accept that for DB the Walkabout will not be as good as the AI, but the Boogie probably has the edge for electric bass (especially if I want some West Coast valveyness). It's a compromise but c'est la vie! C
 9. Once again, in the face of the generally low prices around at present, my need to clear out the house, and my need to buy a Walkabout, I'll drop the price on this to £325 collected. No postage I'm afraid. You won't find a better cab at a lower price Chris

 11.
Not sure about this. My take on it with Fender was that they realised they weren't in a position to successfully sue anyone because the actual shapes of bodies etc hadn't been copyrighted in sufficient detail. The whole 'lawsuit bass' name is in some ways a myth. So they might as well effectively make their own cheaper 'copies' in the first place and thus the licensing of products manufactured overseas came about. Sort of 'If you can't beat 'em, join 'em' mentality. Ric went the whole opposite way with much tighter copyrights, retained exclusive manufacturing to one country and as such remain more of a cottage industry than the likes of Fender or Gibson.
Hard to say one way or the other what is the actual issue, but a very well known UK-bsed luthier told me recently that he is able to use the Fender headstock shape as long as he doesn't sell the instrument in the US, in which case his lawyers would have some work to do. No idea why that would be given Sadowsky et al?
 12.
Would you be interested in selling the EX seperately?
Hello mate, yes but only if i can find a buyer for the combo at the same time, otherwise i'd rather sell as a pair. I think that, given the amount of really under-rpiced bargains on this site at the moment I'm going to drop the price of the pair to £500 collected, which is a real bargain for such high quality gear. Chris
 13. Congrats Rob, all the best for the big day mate Chris
 14.
While we're here: Urban myths or true stories - Bruce Foxton's 'Rick' was a copy, and most of Chris Squire's recordings were done on a Jazz. ?
Jaco played a Hofner as well Oh, that reminds me Chris, I owe you some money!
 15. Last call before ebay tomorrow evening. Happy to haggle if you can collect, otherwise it's £400 (ovno)
 16. Had this listed in the 'Other musical equipment' forum for a week or so with no action so thought I'd list it here for a day or two ahead of eBay. Great rig that is only leaving Beedster Towers due to a house move and a rethink about what I'm likely going to be doing with DB in the future (i.e., recording versus gigging). I paid £800 (used) for this two years back which was a bargain at the time, and it's probably been the one rig that has really been of use to me in that time, having been used to gig DB, electric bass, and mandolin (we've also used it to record electro-acoustic guitar which simply sounded so much better through this and mic'd than it did either DI'd or mic'd only). I did of course sell it to Clarky briefly during that time (we have a contractual agreement that we cannot own something not previously owned by the other party), and he was kind enough to have the amp serviced by AI before he sold it back to me about a year or so back! Stacked (how I use the rig for rehearsals and for electric bass or mandolin/guitar on stage) Normal config for double bass on stage (one speaker as BD monitor and one for backline) 10" downward firing active speakers that provide great bass dispersion on stage Controls including notch and HP filters £500 firm collected from Canterbury or delivered/meet up within reasonable distance of the M25. Would also consider trade, with cash from me, for a Mesa Walkabout Scout C PS original FS thread here http://basschat.co.u...ge__hl__contra. Post 37 from Wayne is a classic
 17.
FWIW When I saw Jack Bruce he sat down for a fair amount of the gig. Didn't detract at all.
A lot of drummers seem to also?
 18.
I am beginning to fetish Rickenbacker 4001s. Seriously. I have been very close to pulling the trigger on the BG 4001 on the sales board. Trouble is, I already have a BG Ric 4001. My thought is to have one with flats and one with rounds. That's obsessional. I also want a Jetglo badly...they are such beautiful instruments...

I have been discovering how good they sound over the past couple of years. With flats they occupy this perfect slot in a three piece sound. As a result the sound my band makes has this incredible clarity and stability. I've been auditioning other basses and nothing is working as well as the Ric. Ironic really given how often people complain about Rics being hard to mix. FLATS...bass nirvana...
I have my 4003 strung with Ric 4005 flats and my (uhum) Faker 4001 strung with rounds. The're two completely different beasts in that combination. I'd totally agree re the three piece thing also; I don't think I've ever played a bass that sits between drums and guitar as well as my Ric, and given that I was a 100% Precision guy at the time I made that discovery I took some serious convincing. In a four of five piece I'd possibly take a precision or a Jazz, in a three piece it would be the Ric every time, it just does the job. Geofio, good for you mate. You are obsessed, but so what? Just hang on to this one a while eh
 19. Definitely the nicest bass for sale on the forum at present
 20.
According to Mesa boogie original specs; standard 50kg, road ready 55 and a bit kg.
Ah sorry, I'd expected the road-ready case to be substantially more than 5kg. Still, not one for the Punto drivers
 21. Are Google quoting for the road ready version? Mine isn't and weighs in at about that? Not a cab to won if you have a spiral staircase* I can assure you. C *Or a Fiat Punto
