2.
Mojo!
What Fender describe as a 'relic'
 3.
Still nothing as scary as hearing a shrill female voice yell "Clarky, where are you?"
Especially when the voice in question belongs to a 6"4" bearded German wearing nothing but lederhosen and a smile
 4. And this
 5. Well enough BCers have said "If it's still there when I get paid I'll have it" for me to keep it here rather than eBay, so let's see
 6. How about the sound of metal on metal as you wrap your car around a lamppost on the way home from an audition as you realise that your DB is supported against the side of the car that took the impact. Thanks to the car being built like a tank no the slightest bit of damage, but opening the gig bag when I got home was something that required a stiff drink or four
 7. Forgot this one

 11.
Nice to see you back buying & selling Steve
+1, I was thinking about you the other day Steve and wondering how things are. Back in the FS forums is a good sign
 12. Thanks Keith/Greg, I've arranged to take pics this afternoon (the sun is out and the rest of the Beedster household are going swimming), so will post later Chris
 13. Great price Si, I'd keep it though, you will regret selling it, trust me
 14. I've got a spare late C19 German Flatback Clarky
 15.
Macca used/uses Roto Trubass string, the tape wounds, and gets a wonderful, glowing sort of tone. You can sometimes hear a similarities in Chris Squire's, presumably when on the front pup. However, the difference between the typical Macca and typical Squire is huge, bit only as huge as Entwhistle on Live and Leeds and Jamerson. Round wounds with the tone control open vs flats and the tone rolled off. I think they have a wonderful sound. Unfortunately most of my playing is covers at the moment and so I need a more generic sound so not for me. Love to hear it though. Never had a go of a Rick, ought to before its too late!
Good post
 16. Rics are very versatile. I play heavy tapewounds on my 4001 and it sounds just like Macca mid period (i.e., Rubber Soul to MMT when he was mostly recording with his Ric). With rounds it's a completely different animal. They're clanky when strung, set up, played and EQ'd to be clanky, which I guess is the preferred tone of a few people renowned for playing them (e.g., Lee, Squire). C
 17. I'm not a great fan of Jazzes Si but man that is nice
 18. One of my all time favourite basses, exactly the same colour/spec as my old one, and being in Canterbury I so wish I had the cash
 19. Lovely mate, you'll need a Who tribute act to go with that
 20.
I guess someone did a search on the phone numbers, and found the numbers on "Cris"'s advert were also on "Mark Percy"'s webpage. Is this the guy you used to be in a band with?
Ha ha, no, I'm somewhat relieved to say it isn't. The guy I'd incorrectly linked the original advert to is certainly a character, but not in the same league (and not even in the same sport). And just for the record, a guy who states several times that he's internet illiterate does so on his own website? C
 21. How did this thread go from one about a guy called Cris looking for a bassists with a big rig to a thread about Mark Percy, whoever he is? Am I missing something
 22.
Ha Ha...so what's wrong with Romanian Sunset Orange??.....
LOL, nothing at all Duncan, just making sure that if we don't sort something I don't miss anything else in the meantime. Only reason I mentioned above that the ideal trade is an EUB plus cash is that in my experience EUBs are far less idiosyncratic than DBs, that is if everyone who owns a Clifton rates them highly I'm pretty confident I'll get on with it, or at least that it'll do the job I need. Individual DBs on the other hand vary so much that unless you're very lucky I don't think you know whether you will or will not get on with one without a fair bit of playing, adjustment, string changes etc. Re the Romanian with the tan, knowing you from way back, I'm confident that if you chose it in the first place and have kept it since, it's probably a bloody decent instrument, which in itself removes a lot of the doubt for me. I'll try and get pics of the flatback taken later today Chris
 23.
There are a few basses on here at the moment that almost make me regret moving house (leaving me with no funds for bass purchases); this is one of them. Best of luck with the sale Chris, she's a beaut.
Cheers mate, there's so many life things that just get in the way of owning all the basses we need aren't there
Pm'd a p/ex proposal
Thanks John, replied
Gobsmacked you're selling this beaut - though odds on within a month you'll either be buying another one, or returning to righteousness with something old and Precision shaped....... Proper man's Ric, fabulous
Ha ha Greg, you know me. No, I'm staying with Ricks for the time being, but my old 4003 - which after all you know well - is a hard act to follow and is still my go-to instrument. Even I don't need two go-to instruments
 24. Duncan and I are talking re the trade above but I think my ideal deal for the German would be cash plus a high/good quality EUB, e.g., Clifton, SLB-200 etc. Or a straight sale of course
