1. I'm still gutted about the loss of an entirely innocuous piece of 6cmx1cmx1cm hard foam at a gig last year. It was the only foam that ever truly did the job. I occasionally go back to the venue in the feint hope........
  2. That's a ludicrously low price for that bass, I sincerely hope you don;t regret it Donny
  3.
Neither will RIC, but it really does take some doing to alienate so many possible customers, in one niche market, in one day. Wish there was an applause emoticon
That is the sad truth. I don't buy the Ric QC thing as, having owned several new Fender, MM and Modulus basses with QC problems requiring work, I don't see Ric as being any different (and to be honest the two Rics I've owned from new have been outstanding in every way). However, playing music is an emotional process, and choice of instrument is part of that emotion; many folks want to feel sympatico with the maker of an instrument. I'm not sure JH understands this?
  4.
Deleted.
I'd love to have seen that Donny
  5.
and I didn't even see it. See Chris, you are the marketing genius, not that CEO chap we've all been getting sweaty about
I think JH is a marketing genius and is pumping out relic'd Rickenfakers in the far east as we speak
  6. Yes, I should keep it as it's not far off Ric quality and will no doubt be worth a bit one day..... Ironically I posted in the R*****fakers thread last week my amazement that used Ric prices are falling whilst faker prices are soaring (which is why I just bought a used Ric). The irony being that JH is, by pursuing his eBay vendetta, turning the humble Faker into a rather rare, enigmatic and desirable object. Si, I have both aluminium and brass Hipshot bridges and vastly prefer the brass despite its Olympian mass, which were you after mate? Chris
  7.
Publish it, Chris!!
Done mate, http://basschat.co.uk/topic/173293-late-70searly-80s-gherson-copy-of-a-famous-brand-bass-for-sale/page__fromsearch__1 (pics to follow). OK, I've been a little discrete, but mostly 'cos I don't want Kiwi and Ped waking up to a summons following JH's communication! C
  8. I have a lovely Gherson, neck through, Hipshot alu bridge, Rickenbacker Hi-Gain PUP at the bridge, custom Kent Armstrong Toaster at the neck. It has original Ric stereo circuit/output and VTC, meaning it is pretty versatile tonally. It also has a Rickenbacker TRC. Recently set up by the Legendary Bass Doc it's strung with TI Jazz flats for that retro Macca (Howard set it up for a pretty low action, way too low for me to be honest but he did a great job). It has a lovely ageing natural finish. I can supply with two white pickguards, one allowing for early neck PUP positioning, one for later (the body is routed for both). Bought at a project from Len (Soloshchenko) late last year it's been an ongoing project chez Beedster that has been superseded by an incoming v63. It owes me close to £750 to be honest but I will take £600, £50 less if you don't want the TRC. Please PM me for photos, or perhaps check out Len's original post for a general idea? C EDIT: now £450
  9. I came on this evening to list for sale my lovely Ghersen faker and saw this thread. Damn, really need the cash as well having, ironically, just bought a v63. Can I list it somehow or am I going to be economic with information (and pics)? C
  10. Thanks Greg, I could really use it be being 3u as I have a lovely old rack case that needs to hold both power amp and 1u pre! Could you check mate? 4003FL was my only bass until a few hours ago..... Hope all's well mate, perhaps we should hook up on the M11 anyway, been a long time! Cheers Chris
  11. What's happened to the price of the genuine article? They seem to be going down whilst fakers seem to be selling at pretty robust prices? Mr Hall's efforts perhaps backfiring on him?
  12. Love the power amp Greg, are you thinking splitting? How many u's is it? Chris
  13. Beedster

    Sold

This looks pretty much a ringer for my 4003FL, in which case it's a serious piece of kit and a far more versatile bass than you'd expect. A freless Ric is without doubt and instrument all bassists should own at some point in their careers C
  14. Dude, buy Emlyn's bass, however you do this it's going to be a leap of faith to an extent. You're welcome to come down here and play my GF (that's German Flatback not Girl Friend) any time. OK, it won't be the same for sure, but it might provide a comparison? C
  15. No-one's got any money mate, some of the stuff I've seen sell on eBay at ludicrous prices makes me want to cry (partly as I have no money), plus a lot of stuff selling on here isn't going for anything like the advertised price.. I think you should entertain PX deals with cheaper instruments that might be easier to sell........
  16.
However, I'm not in favour of flogging in this or in any other cases
Wishy-washy liberal
  17.
So, while I agree it's a good idea to check, and even a bit dumb not to, I don't think it's the flogging offense that's being implied.
The O/P suggested that the buyer was the problem which isn't really the case. Flog him
  18.
I know Chris, but I thought it was important enough to be worth repeating.
19.
Maybe I am missing something but ... How could you not know that the bass was undelivered for nearly two months? Were you not tracking it for the delivery signature? Were you not communicating with the buyer to see that it had arrived safe and sound? Were you not communicating with the shipper to find out what had happened when it hadn't arrived? Did you not realise that when the shipper took the package from you after you contracted with them to deliver on your behalf that, as the supplier of the item, you still held responsibility for it being delivered?
Which was kinda my point in my first post Dave. As I said, this is why eBay protect the buyer, there are a lot of ttake the money and run sellers out there
  20.
It pretty much exactly fulfills my criteria in the search I have on BC but the distance is tricky. hence I'm really looking forward to the YouTube footage Emlyn
When I bough Greg's flatback he was kind enough to send me several video/sound clips, and even went as far as changing strings for some to allow me to hear the difference it made. This made a big difference to my thinking because although Greg's tone probably isn't my tone (his is of course far better), it showed me what the instrument could do. I have to say, the process was thorough and I'm very happy with the outcome.
  21.
It just sold for £967 !!
I'm always surprised when someone posts something along the lines ""62 Precision for £25...." as it's always the same with eBay, the serious bidders come in late in the day. The fact that this bass was £500 yesterday means - and clearly meant - nothing in terms of its final price.
  22. Italy sprang to mind reading the post a few above and, hey presto, it seems i'm not alone. Whilst selling to Italy via BC has generally been OK, I won't send ebay items to Italy
  23.
A line like "she's quite heavy" when applied to a late 70's P-bass is quite concerning ... that could mean this bass weighs 5Kg or more.
5kg, nothing, my Ric makes a 5kg bass look positively underfed, and I've got a 70's Strat that weighs 4kg and sounds incredible!
