Funny how the same old faces pop up when there's a 70's Precision under discussion

Looks fine to me, someone could get a good deal there
definitive answer from roger sadowsky himself:- i emailed: roger thanks i just did not think lined fretlesses would have dot position markers on the board and side dot markers not in line with the lines but before the note as on a fretted board cheers gareth he replied:- Dots on a lined fretless are always the same as a fretted neck. Roger so "hear this" to the basschatter that said my lined fretless ray had been de-fretted and was not original factory spec!

I had a Fender Jazz lined fretless with dots at the lines and not between them.
Um, I'm with Dave Gareth, I think Roger must be talking about Sadowsky's, as despite my rant in the first post, there's loads of fretless basses that have dots on the lines (or where the lines would be). My Ric certainly has, and my recemtly departed Takamine B-10 is the same, as was the case with both my maple fretless Precisions (both 70's originals)

Good decision mate, my 'new' (100 year old) DB is the best instrument I've ever owned and has really got me back into playing. Don't let anyone tell you that because their £300 ply bass sounded better than a £20,000 instrument their mate used to own that it's not worth spending money on a decent DB, it most certainly is C

If you sell something you should track it, don't rely on the buyer. Ebay takes a lot of flack but with an item of that value an approach of 'once Parcelforce have taken it it's off my hands' is exactly the type of thing ebay rules protects buyers from. No idea what the rights and wrongs of the current situation are as there's not enough info, but any comments ragrding the buyer's behaviour are pure conjecture at this point. If I sent a £500 instrument to another country I'd consider it my possession until it was safely in the new owner's hands, which doesn't appear to be the case here? OK, Paypal have taken the money back, but at least the O/P still has the bass, I've heard far worse stories about ebay transactions gone wrong C

I don't think either the Walkabout or M-Pulse had dual voltage. I might be wrong though

Fender Precision and pretty much anything to be honest
I've just been quoted £450 for a CASE for my Mesa Walkabout head!

I'm after one of them but not at that price its more than I payed for the amp
You guys need to keep an eye on the FS threads then! Like WoT said above, the fact that one or two guys have made a lot of their specific problems does not give Mesa a poor reputation for QC. With Mesa amplification I've found myself stuck between needing slightly more than the hybrid gear such as the Walkabout and M-Pulse and not needing everything that the all-tube gear such as the Strategy and 400 deliver, so the new range looks promising.
Lovely
Love to hear it, but Christ Mesa's European prices are a joke
I can't see prices in the links?

I just bought a rather lovely old DB from Greg and am very happy with the whole thing. I badgered the poor guy with question after question, requested sound clips, even made him change strings in order to get a feel for what the bass was like with guts, and even then starting humming and hahhing about whether it had the tone I was after. Anyway, Greg being a top guy brought the bass down by train, we had a few drinks and a chat about bass and life, and I'm now the very happy owner of a rather nice old DB, whilst Greg's on his way towards his new custom build. Top guy to deal with. Chris

Listed on eBay but will take offers here if anyone's interested. No trades I'm afraid. Too many tubey boxes chez Beedster at present and i need to raise some folding so this is up for sale until Monday morning at which point I'll have to dig into another source. Manual at: http://www.peavey.com/assets/literature/manuals/80301636.pdf Can provide pics later today if needed but it's in good condition and works very nicely! Very nice way of running your Ric stereo outputs, and a whole lot loud than you'd think it should be! Bridgable as well of course. Chris

Nice easy transaction with Jez, immediate payment and good communication. Highly recommended (as is any user of Mesa gear to my mind!) Chris

Yet another transaction with Mark and as ever, it was a 100% pleasure, and once again, Mark was very patient whilst I got things sorted. Enjoy the AV'62 mate, it's a lovely bass Chris

Is the Yorkshire Bas still going to be in Canterbury folks?

Well done mate, I think that's going to be a far more interesting, challenging and ultimately satisfying gig than RB. C -
That's what I love about BC, a thread on double bass technique becomes a thread about banjos (and hats) within hours

Not that Howard needs any more positive feedback, but having sent him a few bits of vintage Rickenbacker/Rickenfaker/Rickalike a month or so back, I wasn't overly optimistic that the sum of the parts would add up to much. Needless to say I'm now the proud owner of a rather nice sounding - and more importantly extremely well rebuilt and set-up - 4001-alike. To be honest, there's no better way to get your bass work done; stick it in a box, send it to Howard, and hey presto, a couple of weeks latter back comes the same box with a somewhat nicer instrument inside! It's like waking up on Xmas morning! Cheers Doc C
A gentleman is someone who owns a banjo but never plays it.
The ultimate 'keep it in the mix' instrument. Few instruments sound quite as bad soloed as a banjo
