  1. I've been using this to record for the last few months but it's now available again as I'm going to convert an existing cabin on our property into a vocal booth. Just as a price comparison the below is the same make as mine albeit the standard 1.2 x 1.2m size (mine is significantly larger as 1.6 x 1.6m) listed used at £3,200, which is around what mine cost new IIRC Happy to talk trades/PX but note that you would need a large vehicle and probably two strong friends to get it out and build it at your place, being double lined for acoustic reasons it is VERY heavy! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204609057273?hash=item2fa3a671f9:g:bjsAAOSwGhRlm9rf&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwCZe%2FqDVaqmLTOE413pBfoeq5VKBQn7mbSc4V%2FqJ%2FOln6PYlsSvuHp1oAtwquI6DAEcEtDvjWhd%2FfRo5FpsTfvEswg2gZPX3BQS9RehmPffJj%2FGML%2B6EbTG2yNBcE7rhm6DgXxYxkLwMvzTCkf88vTyxIZG5%2Bhuto4Uo7FT4DljFoQKtqG9c0nvGqT0aW19j3hJGGyzhktv6j%2FsVqPvZnOzscrvEU0NFfdxd2kAJ4uPRP4D2e7CvlIXEXpA3XCLJCw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR6DBjaKmYw
  2. A cautionary tale Jack, dodgy venue electrics can do a whole lot worse stuff to you than lower your spls 👍
  3. I did the paper thing about 10 years back and it stayed in the slot completely forgotten about for years (the joys of playing flats that requires changing every decade)
  4. I do love it when you post in this forum @Rabbie 👍 Lovely strings, wish I had the spare cash
  5. Nicely put, and yes, that sounds like the guy, all 4/4s are firewood and anyone stupid enough to own/play one has to accept that reality My 4/4 is a tad over 44 inches and while it requires more effort/shifts to get around the neck than I do on 3/4, the feel, intonation, and tone are significantly better to the point that I'll happily accept the trade-off with needing more position shifts etc. Having said this, oddly the upper register on the 4/4 is far more accessible than the 3/4, I've yet to figure out why?
  6. I always wanted a fretless TRB, great catch 👍
  7. Four years/fair bit of hammer? Think you’ve not done badly Paddy?
  8. Used this a few times, it's great for small-medium size/weight mics, not so great with my Heil PR-40 which overwhelmed it slightly! I'm now using a Nadine Ear Trumpet which I'm quite happy with so this is no longer needed Retails around £90, comes with a range of attachments meaning while it will work on the biggest 4/4 it can also be used with many acoustic instruments ranging in size from mandolin to cello.
  9. Having said that my Warmoth 4-string Precision FL neck is the same width at the nut (1.75) and less than 1/4" narrower at the heel, could easily do the job of a 5-er with the correct drilling of headstock and nut replacement. Anyway, guess that's probably not much help to Dan but thought I'd mention it
  10. Ah, didn't realise that, seems an odd business model though, guess it speaks to the sheer number of Fender players in the US?
  11. Re Warmoth you can order a paddle-head neck, specify correct heel size, and given your skills @d_g, do the headstock yourself? https://warmoth.com/bn-d5sp
  12. To be fair you can achieve a decent unlined finish by simply de-fretting and using wood/filler of the same colour as the existing board. 95% of the time will appear unlined to the trained eye, although if you have a heavily figured board it can be more of a challenge 👍
  13. No, I don’t think so because it will likely cost much the same as having a new neck built, which is your second best option, the best option being waiting for one to come up for sale, which will happen the moment you pay for your commissioned neck…
  14. Many thanks, that's very reassuring 👍
  15. I found that with the Markbass 2x6 (or was it 2x8?) also, it was louder and had somewhat greater **heft** than the PJB Briefcase albeit similar vertical speaker alignment format which I found worked very well for DB gigs ** = term is used with significant caution
  16. I used PJB live with electric and upright for about two years, I used the Super Flightcase (in bigger gigs with an extension cab) and it was very good, and I even used the briefcase for small DB gigs. I do feel that by compariosn with other brands PJB combos are underpowered, but that perhaps is a subjective (and possibly biased) opinion and many other disagree. PJB can be picked up quite cheap used here and elsewhere. 15 years ago it was cutting edge/innoovative in terms of size and quality, these days there is a lot of competition
  17. No it's not generally true, not any more anyway. There are tiny cabs - and cabs with multiple tiny speakers - that can sound amazing compared to much larger cabs of lower quality. Quality, not quantity, is a big part of the picture (not the only part however)
  18. At least this wide
