  1. It's an immensely impressive collection by any standard, even by the standards of immensely impressive collections, but certainly seems to veer firmly in the direction of what I've always thought of - rightly or wrongly - the Eurobass side of things. I'm a luddite Brit at heart, I like a Precision, if pushed a Jazz, if really pushed a Wal or a Ric. Despite that massive collection, it was the beautiful '70 Precision that caught my eye the most. Sorry Tony As an aside, I'll never forget - because it was so unexpected and inappropriate - what a musician said to me when he saw me with a Yamaha TRB-6 around my neck. Made me realise that 4 strings and Leo-designed is where my soul resides
  2. I was going to say you could have mine FOC but also a Precision neck, and to be honest, I suspect you'd probably not like it much either!
  3. Not sure I get what you mean? EDIT Ah yes I do, nothing deliberate Tony, I think i just had BC fatigue at the wrong moment and was on the phone and out so failed to see them all ๐Ÿ‘
  4. Good spot ๐Ÿ‘
  5. Bart MK will fit, any opinions? https://bartolini.net/application/mk/
  6. I'm hoping Fender see it and offer me a Beedster Sig model ๐Ÿ˜„
  7. Folks This recently made its way to Beedsters Home for Abused Basses. It's a lovely old bit of wood in the shape of a Jazz Bass that someone has really gone to town on, routing new PUP cavities with what appears to have been some form of agricultural machinery. Installed PUPs are a pair of Ibanez EXP-4s which I suspect I'm not going to get along with too well. I'm going to tidy things up and then I'd quite like to put in something PUP-wise that will be different to a Precision or Jazz. It's going to have a fretless neck and I can experiment with a J-Retro also. Present PUP size is 11cm x 3.5cm. Suggestions welcome
  8. I had a double J-PUP at the bridge on a bass a few years back and never liked it, didn't have a lot of life, bit too close to the bridge I expect?
  9. I noticed that also, in his defence he has been equally rude to me under both usernames
  10. Spoke to Tim at East Street today, I love it when someone sounds keen to do the work despite being busy, and makes everything really simple. Thanks for the recommendation folks
  11. I've got a Roscoe that's small enough to go on my back and is only marginally bigger than a single bass bag and a Fusion that is about the same size as Luxembourg ๐Ÿ‘
  12. Iโ€™ve got two twin bags, one very big and tough, one less so, couldnโ€™t live without them ๐Ÿ‘
  13. I agree, but Fender haven't done this to sell the bass in question to players like Blu, they've done it to sustain their relevance with the demographic that aspire to be Blu. They don't care whether the bass sells by the 10s or by the thousands, but the fact that people are talking about Fender in the present tense, that some people new to Fender believe they are relevant, still others even that Fender understand them, that's where the mojo is for Fender ๐Ÿ‘
  14. Sorry thought I'd replied to this, 4.2kg/9lb4oz, balances nicely ๐Ÿ‘
  15. I feel this thread - or this phase of this thread - has come to it's logical conclusion, final few lines of this seem relevant......
  16. "Alexa, play Lonnie Donnegan" Gotta laugh, first song appears to be about 'The Young Folks'
  17. OK, I'm going to give it a go ๐Ÿ‘
  18. Just joshing mate, but that was exactly my point, we each have our own terms of reference for life, those that my daughter's generation share are very different to those of many if not most of the contributors on Basschat, and I suspect that this thread demonstrates it. Blu is very much a member of the former and is speaking to that demographic, our points of reference - as Fender's PR and marketing depts are aware - are largely irrelevant in this context. And I wish I could have liked Lonnie Donnegan, just one song!
  19. Yep, my Dad was likewise underwhelmed by longhairs and transistor radios and preferred to get his kicks from Lonnie Donegan LPs No disrespect to my Dad BTW, but I never could bring myself to like Lonnie Donegan no matter how many listens
  20. It's quite amusing that last week a poll was started asking the age of members, I suspect reading this thread would have achieved the same, we really are largely a bunch of out of touch old blokes aren't we ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  21. All good points but again relates to the 'what is commercial success?' question raised earlier. Why would she need to join a gigging band, she can no doubt have an easier, more financially rewarding, and potentially happier life generating content, recording music, and monetising other processes related to these? If either of my daughters wanted to be a musicians these days and were given the choice of an 18-month World tour (and those of you who've done them know that the excitement wears off after a week), or being around their close friends, doing what they love doing but having a normal life beyond it, I suspect I know what my advice would be ๐Ÿ‘
