Just to clarify, the body is that of an Enfield Fusion/Avenger built by Sims Custom Shop https://www.sims.guitars/enfieldguitars as opposed to a custom body with Sims Quad PUPs installed. In short the quality of the body, the routes, the circuits etc is as you'd expect given Martin's reputation for high quality work. Further info on this model (which was rebranded from Fusion to Avenger but like all Enfield basses is now discontinued) can be found here https://www.sims.guitars/enfield-guitars/avenger -

Hey mate, thanks for the post. I think we had a chat about these necks (and this bass) a while back, and yes, I'm very very glad I persisted with the Enfield, and especially that I held out for the neck that I knew would transform it; I tried a Status fretted Jazz neck on it but both the frets and the width/size didn't work for me. Something that really surprised me about the neck is that I am far more in tune, no doubt as the result of the virtuous acoustic cycle et up by small changes in how it feels to play resulting in small changes in the clarity of the note resulting in same change in my confidence in hitting the note. The Badass and J-Retro both added something incremental, the neck is. a step change. I've made a lot f bad decisions around music gear over the years, this appears to be the good decision that makes up for them all ๐

Indeed, thanks for the correction @LeftyJ ๐

J-Retro controls are as above. The two switches above the control plate are the coil selectors for each PUP switching essentially between Jazz Bass (2 s single coil), Precision (2 x split coil) and Stingray (2 x humbucker) and any combination of those front and back PUPs. The Badass, J-Retro and graphite neck add a little audio emphasis to the PUP selection.

Newly put together bass day Enfield Fusion I bought around a year back, to which I've added a Badass, J-Retro, and Status Graphite unlined Precision neck. It just works in a way that no bass I've owned before can claim to do. OK, it was a great bass with the original neck, but the recent addition of the Status has taken it to another level in terms of intonation, clarity, and tone. I feel rather lucky to have this one!

Body bought from @pluckedout on here a few months back, it has a fast wearing LPB nitro finish that you're either going to love or hate I'd guess. Plays beautifully with (unusually in my experience) a VERY nice Mighty Mite Precision neck which I suspect has had some work round edges and dressing frets. It has a nice retro feel and with flats a nice retro tone also. Fender US 62RI PUP, lovely Gotoh lollipops also ๐ I've overspent on some building work or this would be going nowhere. A few other rather nice Fender-alikes will be wandering onto the market over the next few days for the same reason I'll post more detailed pics at the weekend No trades, price is firm. Thanks. I have several decent boxes so can courier at costs although I'd prefer collection or meet up (I'm in Whitstable but get to London regularly). I'll post some more detailed pics at the weekend with covers off etc ๐ BTW in the flesh it has a slightly more LPB tint, it doesn't look quite this blue!

Enfield Fusion Jazz body with 2xQuad PUPs, Badass, 3-band Glockenlang EQ with various push/pull options also and Fender neck. Neck is an MIJ 75RI of the older type with S/N on the headstock. If you want a versatile bass, this does everything from Flea BSSM era to Flea Stadium Acadium era, to Jamerson, to Stanley Clarke, to Bernard Edwards, to..... I could make this simpler by saying that if they played a Precision, a Jazz or a 'Ray, this bass can probably do it! I've overspent on some building work or this would be going nowhere (but hey I have two Enfields, so I can console myself with the other which is my keeper FL). A few other rather nice Fender-alikes will be wandering onto the market over the next few days for the same reason No trades, price is firm. Thanks. Number 5 absolutely reflects my sentiment also. Number 3 is also a fair point. Has 4 happened, I thought not?

Not exactly obscure small banks then? Hope this all works out for you @theplumber, and glad it wasn't a stupid amount of money if it doesn't
-
Who do you bank with and which bank was the payment going to? Feel free to decline to answer of course ๐
-
Which it now is

ยฃ7000 for a Gibson bass, should be in the memes thread ๐
-
Used to (and will again soon when I start gigging again). As long as youโre in tune no-one should notice unless you want them to. I find fretless easier than fretted these days
-
They can do, depends on the bank, I have to send payments to a builder and it's very slow and makes me nervous as hell each time I do it, hence my interest in this thread as we also had a glitch a few weeks back, although it transpired that it's the result of the two banks having multiple checks. I always screen shot every stage, although i wonder how much use that would be if there was ever a major problem as the bank could probably simply dispute the integrity of them, but it's probably better than nothing. A couple of friends have lost large amounts, one through trusting a process that he - or more correctly his wife - was duped into but very very cleverly so, the other through something not dissimilar to what your case appeared to be at first sight, bank account details that appeared to be paying one person when they were paying another. He made the mistake of ignoring the notice on the screen telling him he should only go ahead with the payment if he was sure.

This is her way of blocking your bass purchases mate
-
Apologies for asking (but hey, you did start the thread), and just to be clear, your wife made the payment, you weren't with her when she made it, you just checked the details after the fact?

That's a good question ๐
