  1. Looking forward to watching the whole thing at the weekend 👍
  2. True of what most of Sting does mate 🤔
  3. Think you’re getting confused with Jazz 😆
  4. It’s a double bass, a large hollow resonant wooden box, if you’re amplifying it, feedback is an ever present threat 👍
  5. Sounds like s separate thread to me 😆
  6. Spend between 500-1000 on a used bass that you’re ideally either able to play first or can buy from a known BCer. Don’t buy new. Get to know it acoustically and amplified before spending too much on strings/PUPs etc. Have fun, it’s a great journey (both the instrument and the genre) 👍 It’s well known in Bluegrass circles that blonde instruments sound better BTW 😆
  7. A man at one with his bass 👍 PS I have that PUP combination in a similarly unique bass, albeit fretless, very very nice indeed
  8. It has an oddly foetal feel......
  9. Yes, and with really shoddy/cheap screws as well
  10. Not that I was in the market to start with, but it's quite an impressive piece of YT that can actually out you off buying a instrument. While he clearly has some skill - more than me for sure - the sense of this all being a bit of a garden shed hobby came across a bit too loud and clear to me in that video
  11. ….doesn’t shout “Professional Luthiery” does it 🤔
  12. That was my first thought also
  13. A credit to the forum 👍
  14. 100% this, the other two are way too showy 👍
  15. IMO the simple answer to this comes in two parts.... 1. Depends on the drug 2. Depends on the player Just like everything else in life really 🤔
  16. Dude you really don't have much luck, frankly Id just get your cash refunded and not worry too much about not having a bass that wasn't your first choice anyway 👍 A few of us were in the pub a few years ago and one of the gang described at length the catalogue of disasters that had been his last 10 years of buying new cars, finding them faulty, getting them repaired and/or then replaced. It was pretty amusing albeit not for him (he has more cash than sense being a big part of it). He finished his tale of woe with 'What the f***'s a bloke supposed to do...?", to which came the almost unanimous reply 'Stop buying new cars" That probably wasn't much help 🤔
  17. Good stuff, important to have a bass that calls to you 👍
  18. Agreed, it’s the ‘we don’t give a f***’ attitude of the whole process that can be quite draining. Glad it was sorted Russ 👍
  19. It would be a pleasure @neepheid 👍
  20. I'm going to target future gear sales on the basis of BCers I'd like to meet and who reside in nice destinations on that basis
  21. ...I'm trying to find the link, but IIRC the irony was that the tube was about the only bit of the head that had survived the drop 👍
