  1. I have a photo from a gig a few years back where I'm looking for the dots on the bass I'm playing at the time and man my posture was quite extraordinary. As I get older my biomechanical/structural integrity becomes more and more important to me and I'm very glad that I got out of that habit
  2. @Bloopdad1, who knows a hell of a lot about uprights, wasn't being obnoxious but was asking questions that a prospective buyer would ask, largely because your listing isn't exactly comprehensive. For example when I think 'vintage' with double bass I'm thinking earlier than the 60s/70s, so some idea of the actual age would be helpful as I suspect you're using a different point of reference. It also looks like it's been hand painted, I might be wrong but if so it's also the sort of thing you might want to mention in the listing (who, why, is it removabl), and you might also want to explain the reference to the neck that's never been broken which I suspect promotes far more questions that it answers. Not trying to piss on your sale, if it's a good bass at a good price it will sell anyway, but I don't think either your description or your response help in the slightest.
  3. This ^ Working in touch is preferable to working on vision, especially for posture, but working on pitch to develop muscle memory is the goal 👍
  4. ….and therein lies the irony in Warwick’s description of the bass 😁
  5. But look at all that high fret access 😆
  6. Really enjoyed that 👍
  7. Sorted https://reverb.com/uk/item/79844096-warwick-reverso-artist-series-adam-clayton-signature-4-string-bass-2010s-gold
  8. I don't think you can go far wrong with the Markbass unit 👍
  9. And BTW the one on the left is for sale, and it's going to need to go to pay for the repairs to the one on the right 🤔
  10. Thanks @Merton as above I'll try with Status again next week and see where things land 👍
  11. Thanks @LeftyJ I'll give Dawn a call next week, I think I owe it to the bass to get it looked at and sorted by Status if at all possible. If not, I'll have to think of other options 👍
  12. Thanks guys, I'm hoping to have some luck with Status but slow progress at present, which I get. I registered with the Statii forum - or tried to - ands am just getting this...
  13. It's huge but sits perfectly and plays so easily. It's Modulus Flea territory with a little more versatility and, dare I say it, a little more heft (can a bass have heft or is it just amplification....?). Thanks for your earlier posts Andy, helped a lot 👍
  14. I'm going to keep this, in part because despite the problems it's an incredible piece of engineering and I won't find another anytime soon, in part because I don't want the hassle of dealing with a shitty seller (and BTW Reverb have handled this very poorly), and in part because I'm going to enjoy fixing it. While the financially sensible thing to do is to get the circuit repaired, given I'm not convinced the bass was all that well maintained, I don't think I'll feel fully happy unless a new circuit is installed. I was hoping that Status might be able to supply/build a replica of the original but having been initially quite responsive they've gone very quiet which is frustrating. So I'm guessing there are a few options from here. Re the earlier comment about size, check this out.....
  15. 9/10 when a tube amp that’s been working fine develops a fault it’s a tube, so it’s always worth having a few spare tubes around to test before getting techs involved. I do think I’m missing a trick not owning one of these heads 🤔
  16. Was that the fretless Buzzard?
  17. I suspect we evaluate a bass as a function of expectations of that bass, a £250 instrument that performs like one legitimately worth £500 always impresses and generates positive perceptions and emotions. But against a bass with legitimate value of £2,500 that £250 bass, no matter how good, will nearly always lose out. The key question is of course how much that intervening £2,250 means to you 👍 And note my deliberate use of ‘legitimately’ 🙂
  18. Nice 👌
  19. No point buying anything but a special bass (i.e. one you can’t put together simply yourself), bitsas built from Basschat/ebay/Reverb parts win on price and quality over factory basses a lot of the time, keeping a keen eye open for used components by Warmoth, Allparts, Mighty Mite, Gotoh, means you can build some cracking instruments 👍
  20. I was in the firing line of one Sunday evening, extraordinary volume 👍
  21. All the best @Paolo85, hope you find your way back to playing one day 👍
