  1. And I dread to think what they'd do with a Stingray
  2. They could probably lose several Thunderbirds
  3. Yep, the more discerning you are about - and the more you pay for - wood, the more chance you have of building instruments using wood with largely consistent characteristics across instruments. Which is why top builders are able to make the statements about wood, and why all bets are off with Fender
  4. Which is true and speaks to the variability between component parts 👍
  5. Just checked, he used Secursus https://www.secursus.com/en-gb/?gad=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImaGpvKyTgQMVRvDjBx3oUQtjEAAYAiAAEgJsd_D_BwE
  6. I sold a bass to a member here recently and he sorted his own insurance for the courier, seems what sensible people do, but still doesn't remove the 24-48 hours of stress
  7. Mmm, to use your own phrase, no you've got that wrong. If you're going to bring in the laws of physics then the transmission of energy through a medium will differ with the characteristics of that medium, type, density, age, moisture. Yes it makes little difference most of the time but certainly can make a big difference in some. Whether or not it suits snakeoil salesmen, science (physics) also attests to this reality
  8. I'm with you mate, but for those who aren't......
  9. With no disrespect to anyone who has/does, I really struggle to understand why anyone would entrust anything of any value to Evri, they are a mass-market small parcel business delivery service that clearly has a 20% loss and/or damage rate built into it's KPIs. Hope this works out but for god's sake, next time don't use Evri (I won't tell you my horror story - it was an incoming and expensive parcel (studio gear) but suffice to say I wouldn't use them unless they paid me the equivalent value of the item in question as a deposit first. I specify with sellers that if they use Evri I'm not buying)
  10. That's a good point Re 'in the wrong place' does it really matter if we all know where it is and how to get there? For me it's probably a more useful forum than A&C, and given thread titles can on occasion be misleading - meaning I might miss a useful PA-related thread in A&C - I'm pleased we've got it. Thanks mods 👍
  11. @JohnDaBass Do you have a link to the build diary thread, can't find it 👍
  12. You’d still hear it if it were pointed in the opposite direction mate 👍
  13. Carbine M6 is up there with the SVT-II as an amp every bass player needs to own at one stage or another. Extremely versatile while at the same time gloriously simple to get a great tone. And loud as f**k 👍
  14. Do I need this bass? No Do I want this bass? Hell yes Am I going to buy it? Damn I'm trying hard not to, I've reached a point with my basses as which I've found the bass I play the most is a fretless Precision with the Wizard PUP wired straight to the O/P socket, there's something wonderfully honest (and DB-like) about the need to derive tone and volume from fingers and not electrics. Also, the more I have to tinker with, the more I tinker, a tinker free bass is so much less stress
  15. Not easy to sell a DB at the best of times, but absence of photos and whereabouts probably renders it 0% chance
  16. The Tech 12 Fly Bass rig looks almost looks like they had fretless in mind when they put it together, is it any good?
  17. So, had something of a catastrophe, bridge down mid-rehearsal, soundpost fell. Never had this happen before. Should I be looking to use a soundpost tool and do it myself or are there any issues with doing this on an aluminium instrument I need to consider? I guess I would simply unscrew the body and reinstall it but suspect that might introduce a whole new set of problems
  18. Pedal board for a minimalist feels a little bit contradictory?
  19. Yes, but some rather odd narrative on the site, perhaps lost in translation?
