  1. Of you like the bass and the price is right, buy it. If you don’t and/or it isn’t, don’t. Most of the best Fenders I’ve owned have been mongrels of one form or another 👍
  2. And supported Thin Lizzy on at least one major tour IIRC
  3. Mmm, never seen a P-neck like that, except on your Hondo P-Bass 😆 Looks a bloody decent bass for the price, there is something so iconic about the cream/black combination on a ‘Ray 👍
  4. Could use this gone, so £150 gets you a lot of creamy bassiness for not a lot of cash 👍
  5. Played this through my (previously for sale) Mesa M6 his evening. F**k me, on the basis of which the M6 is now staying and if I didn't have far too many basses, this would be also 🤔
  6. If anyone want to take this off my hands for £150 on the understanding that at the very least it needs a new preamp tube but could be more, feel free to get in touch 👍
  7. There's a rather elegant lifecycle to things on BC; how many of us have bought something, then sold it as the result of GAS, only to find ourselves realising the error of our ways and buying the same model - sometimes even the same item - again? This has sat unplayed for almost 6-months. I sat down and played it this evening and realised that, if I didn't own a Mesa Carbine M6 Combo, I'd be posting for one in Items Wanted. So I guess i've saved myself the bother of selling it only to find I need to buy it again! I'd like to say 'So with apologies, I'm withdrawing it", but given it's sat here for 6-months, I don't feel all that guilty
  8. Lovely stuff , great trumpet player, shame it stopped just as it started 👍
  9. That indeed could sharpen a prospective buyer's mind Lawrie 🤔
  10. I've owned both twice each!!! 100 feels more like a double bass to the hands and body, 200 sounds more like a double bass to the ear and amplifier. Both are beautifully engineered, I doubt there are better EUBs in the mass(ish) production space, nearly all of the boutique or bespoke instruments I've played have felt very poorly built by comparison. If I were going to buy another it would be the 100, but it would be a close call as the 200 is way more portable
  11. Here's a pic for you @Cosmo Valdemar Still a big part of me wants to strip this bass, despite the very high quality of the current finish and relic work - and blondify it al la Tumahai/BBD, that bass was an iconic part of my youth! Problem is, I'd do all that work and probably still sell it 🤔
  12. It is. If I were going to keep it I would probably switch out the current circuit to a stacked VT/VT control set, to maintain the vintage vibe but make it easier to find the sweet spot between the two PUPs. Having said that, having what amounts to three presets is pretty handy also 👍
  13. Hey mate, there's nine pics in total, I can see them all, I've no idea what this stuff (below) at the foot of the first post is, but i don't appear to be able to remove it. Either way, I can post more pics?
  14. She is, and I just made THAT mistake as well.......... Had to take it into the house to weigh it, so before taking it back out to the studio thought I'd have a quick play...... 🤔
  15. That is my sentiment, fine for the builder/player, but that’s where it should stop. To my ear it sounded far too much like a fretless bass to warrant the hassle of the larger instrument 👍
  16. Hi mate, I'll stick it on the scales later today, worth mentioning ahead of that that it's the classic 'moderate weight' bass, neither noticeably light or noticeably heavy 👍
  17. And he knew a thing or two about cool
  18. Thanks Dave, it still sounds lovely but hard to get anything other than the yellow preamp LED to light and switching tube hasn't fixed it
  19. As luck would have it, having taken this out today ahead of a visit from a prospective buyer, it seems to have developed a pre-amp fault so i'm going to need to get it looked at
