Speaker cable question (running 2x big twin 2 gen3..)
Beedster replied to Benji85's topic in Amps and Cabs
T’was the O/P’s rejection of advice along the lines of ‘have you never been in a band’ that encouraged me to engage in a rather negative tone. And yes, arguing for being highly experienced while apparently not fully understanding the amplification issue in question could be interpreted as contradictory. Anyway, my apologies, welcome @Benji85, stick around, stay lively, and enjoy it. We’re mostly decent folks here 👍 -
Really like the look and feel of this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325701115499?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=qi249DpnTHW&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=155UlNbXQGW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

For someone who's been in so many bands and is so knowledgable, you don't seem to understand amplification very well.... 🤔 -

Great attitude to bring as a new member, perhaps do some homework? -
Not my thing, the technique on display is to me far more consistent with sport performance than performance art. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have 10% of the technical ability, but if so I'd not choose to do that with it 👍

Most of the gigs that stand out in my memory have been to small audiences 👍

It doesn't have to say Fender on the headstock...
Beedster replied to jd56hawk's topic in Bass Guitars
At those prices it might as well say Fender on the headstock, and if they were Fender they wouldn’t look like cheap bitsas. Nothing attractive about thise to my eye at all -
Perhaps you just prefer the sound of a downtuned bass, perhaps you have a instrument that - for whatever reason (resonance?) sounds better down-tuned. Who knows, but if you like it, keep it for down-tuned and get another bass for E-tuning. that way you have another bass which is always good

Nothing bad to say about Andertons, and having bought a rather expensive UAD interface from them during lockdown, it was rather nice to find that the loyalty points earned pretty much pad for a pre-amp I ordered a while later. For me they are the best of the online retailers, taken over from Thomann who I found increasingly unreliable over the years

Music industry going in very much the opposite direction 😕

That brings back memories. IIRC did some odd things to eat Beatles stereo where instruments and sometimes voices were only on one channel. Definitely interesting though 👍

Beautiful example of a great instrument, I tried to sell mine a while back, then I heard our guitarist play it after he'd played his J-45 and realised that it might be a keeper (in fact our guitarist made that decision for me by in effect keeping it albeit on permanent loan). Sorry to see you selling it @oldslapper

Another hissy fit - Sleaford Mods this time

It's almost as if there's a PR agency out there suggesting to bands who's fortunes are sliding that being a complete silly billy in front or a large audience, real or virtual, is a great way to get your name back in the headlights. And if only there wasn't precedent, but ........ The spokesperson for a famous tech company who used to sponsor a sports team that was continually being found to have broken doping rules said that while winning races got their brand featured on the back pages of papers, being prosecuted for doping got them onto the front page, and in his opinion most people simply saw the name and didn't think to hard about the context. -
