  1. Not anorak if you're used to one or the other, I utterly rely on it being a D
  2. This lot turning up at my place demanding money would scare the stinky poo out of me
  3. One of my all time faves Jack, nothing obscure about it
  4. Option paralysis is a great phrase @LukeFRC. But yes, I have 8 Fender-fit necks and 8 Fender-fit bodies to play with and while some combinations disappoint, others simply excel. The Enfields however are another level, I start with P-Bass each time and slowly blend in other things depending on the song, and I have to say I'm falling back in love with playing bass, fretted and fretless 👍
  5. Thanks @Clarky, yes back in the day that would have been mine, extraordinary sounding instruments, there is no other passive fretless out that that can get the sheer power and tone that these can. But, as per another thread recently, I've owned two and sold two, I think it's time to see sense 🤔 However, if you've not owned one of these, you owe it to yourself, the first gig I did with my first was extraordinary, we started with Whole Lotta Love, and when the bass kicked in everyone in the space - including the audience, the rest of the band, the bar staff, everyone - seemed to stop for a few seconds, smile, check their viscera for damage, and carry on. It was one of the best gigs I ever played PS Clarky we really should have a curry sometime mate 👍
  6. Want your money back? Ask yourself, how would these two guys go about it......?
  7. Mmm, almost tempted to have it back to see if it likes my Alu more than my other mics and PUPs do...
  8. My first thought on reading this thread 😆
  9. Gigging mine for the first time in two weeks on an equally steampunk bass. Will report back 👍
  10. Do you know if the neck is drop-in Fender fit?
  11. Too many underfoot hazards in most rehearsal spaces and venues for me to do that
  12. These days less than they’re asking 😕
  13. This Plus the oldest eBay rule of all…. NEVER BUY FROM A SELLER WHO WRITES IN CAPS But yes, those screws 🤔
  14. As has been mentioned before, past basses and past girlfriends have a lot in common
  15. Same seller different outlets. Different culture in Japan, but you're generally safe buying there. However, I'd have thought you'd get that (not especially rare) bass quicker and cheaper either by waiting for it on eBay.co.uk or by posting a wanted ad here
  16. This 100%, recognise the extraordinary privilege that far from being the result of talent - lots of people are far more talented - or hard work - lots of people work harder - or 'sacrifice" (you're flucking joking me) - is simply the result in 99% of cases of luck, and get out there, be a pro, and give the audience what they've paid for. If they don't like you, grow some and win them over rather than resorting to the standard 2020s model of whinge. I did a single gig with a semi pro band (whatever the fukc that actually means), the singer of which threw a major hissy fit mid-gig because people in the 'crowd' (about 40 people in a stinky poo pub in Surrey) were talking during the set and still see it as my musical low point, the guilt of association etc (BTW this 'semi-pro singer had arrived at the gig without his mic case so had to borrow the SM-58 that i carry in my kit bag just to make it through the gig in the first place, and had the lyrics on a printed sheet in his hand. Complete prick). The sense of entitlement that oozes from so many musicians today amazes me.
  17. Yep, my unwritten rule for how a bass should feel and play is "Like a Wal, but not a Wal", and you can only come to that place by having owned and played (a lot) one or more Wals 👍
